Brainstorming thread. =) Post all of your thoughts and suggestions at anytime you think of them. =)

This is all we were given to start with. Which means- we have a LOT of room for our own ideas.:blsmoke:

how bout a budshot section for each month... people are harvesting all the time =]
just make sure the pics have like RIU on a piece of paper in the pic though so we know its not just taken from somewhere else on the internet... plus people couldn't use old old pics of theirs, only current stuff

it wouldn't be The Top Grower... just a look into gardens that really work well... so people can see the variety of ways you can be successfull...



i dunno just tossing things out there...

"Topics you want to know about but won't find in the FAQ" ? There's some good threads around here each month that are lost into the archives- but contain some vital 'rare' info.

Birthday's are too much of an identifying factor... I agree, not for this one.

it wouldn't be The Top Grower... just a look into gardens that really work well... so people can see the variety of ways you can be successfull...

This is a great one as well- we have a lot of highly respected veteran growers here as well, I'm sure people would be interested in knowing some of their tips- and seeing their successful set ups. Maybe stay away from going into strains with them- will just make this section even longer. lol. We could keep these 'articles' strictly to their grow techniques and advice.

This thing is all yours guys/gals do with it as you will just give me a date that you want to send it out every month and I will get things rolling on my end.

Along the same lines as most improved growers of the month.... first harvests for noobs :-) Kinda a who's popped thier cherry at growing for the month.

Might be interesting to do a couple polls as well.

How will the layout of the newsletter look? Also whatever information goes in there should follow a specific formula. For example there would need to be a headline page, or top story of the month... we could also have an agony aunt/uncle section where users send in their questions, or they could merely be plucked from the boards. An entertainment section too, maybe a horroscope... weather from different parts of the world would be a great idea too for all the outdoor growers, maybe any fishermen that are lurking around...

The scope is indeed endless but the key will be in keeping things simple. It's no good throwing everything into one edition.

No layout format has been chosen yet- feel free to suggest or provide examples.

LOL.. the things we could put in this newsletter are endless- but we also will need ideas for next months as well. :blsmoke: You're right, one or a few of the stories will have to be headlines- maybe after the deadline on the articles we can vote on which story we feel is most important for that month's newsletter. That way also, the elite members who are not directly working on the newsletter will also have a say in what the final product will be. :blsmoke: I think the more input we get, the better it will be.

I do like the idea about horoscopes though, lol.. would we get grow and smoke related horoscopes? LOL.. :blsmoke::blsmoke: Harvest cherry popping.. lol, that's just awesome :blsmoke: Most improved grower of the month, new users that stand out (welcome to the boards). :blsmoke:

In regards to formats I feel tried and tested works best. If we followed the formatting of a newspaper we couldn't go far wrong.

In regards to the main page there would be a main story down the centre of the page. The left hand margin may contain snippets from other stories alongside their page numbers, or even a link to click straight to that story. The right hand margin could act as a contents page for competitions, the horroscopes, main-stay columns (like if there was an agony aunt, this would be a regular fitting) etc...

Hey, the newsletter should be cool. As this will obviously be an e-newsletter, we could also embed monthy users grow room videos? I don't know about u guys, but I love to see videos of peoples grows/setups. Just a thought.

These are very good ideas Hot&Sexy and Ian, especially the strain reviews and most popular strain and why. Sure we can read up on this but it is more believable when you have real testimonies from growers.
It might even be interesting to have a medical marijuana section connecting certain strains that may be beneficial or best for various disorders or illnesses.
Or a section on compassion clubs(in general) and what they really are there for, to increase people's awareness of the real reasons why they are here. Although this would just be a topic, it could be made into a 'monthly section' that could be called 'RIU Compassion Club News' where you could combine these two subjects together for those who are interested in the medical aspects of marijuana and not just the obvious enjoyment of it. (I agree with H&S that smoking weed should be mandatory :))
Great idea on legislation. It would be very interesting if we had some more members from different countries around the world participating.
Best grow room set up or new idea. The ideas are endless and I noticed that many outdoor growers have disappeared for the winter and a newsletter might just be the thing that reminds them to get back on track:blsmoke::roll:
Maybe you could make a thread for each category of interest so members can participate and add their thoughts if needed or wanted.
