Great idea zekedog... although I don't get what that has to do with the newsletter?
Anyone got any ideas for the story of the month? Can anyone read stars? You don't actually need to be able to read them, but have access to information... BEFORE it happens... mua ha ha ha haaaa.
Need a centre page too. Obviously this thing will start out as an ebook but I can see this becoming a paper publication one day, so this is the reason I want to go with the newspaper formula.
What about outside events? Like outside the forum? News events... the emery thing for example would have been a good story.

yes. The 1st newsletter needs to have a good cover story.
How about how rollitup got started and why? How and why the elite status came about etc.
Or progression of marijuana laws or the availabiltiy and access to info about growing etc. witin the forum. I good introduction to the site might be a good start.

How about a section noting where to buy certain things with links to websites and such. Like seedbanks, seed dealers, smoking tools, lights, nutes, systems etc. Kind of like a growing/ smoking directory of sorts. No advertising would be required, just some research from one of use to put that together. Wecould ask the help of the members to build the directory.

lol..Also, for the first issue, I was thinking the main story should be possibly a spotlight of FDD or the like- for a lot of people March is the month to start planting outdoors, I think we should def. spotlight on this topic for the first month.
RIU's 2nd year anniversary is in May, perhaps we should leave the "beginning of RIU" story for then.

To add to the directory thing. There could be best links, on-line grow shops, glassware, clothing, culture stuff etc. And there could be a spot for testimonials for them too. As well a spot for up-coming events or calendar to spotlight such events as the Global Marijuana March in May and other events.

OK... now we really need to get things moving... an important point to consider is how many pages the publication is going to have.
So far we have the main page... with maybe the story continuing over to page 2 for the full info. Obviously there will need to be a pic that encompasses the main headline.
We have dank who has kindly offered to write an article. I don't mind if MILF does the main page as I'd like to write something for the advanced section.
I also think a grow system should be concentrated on. Like say SOG or SCROG. The how's and why's etc... with pic's of course.
I also think we need something like an ask ed column. Obviously Mr Rosenthal will not want to help us out here, so we're going to need someone big. Potroast... maybe? Ask Pot'... sounds cool to me.

I am open to anything. I could something on security(or outdoor security top ways people get busted ect.) or smell and filter issues inside( I have learned alot about this the last few weeks). I can do something on setup(I am a good builder). I would be willing to do a strain review in addition to an article. I grow in soil so anything soil related. I also use advanced Nutes and would do an article on them! I sell on ebay and dont have a real job so I got some time. Please let me know what you are thinking or what you like to read about.

I already have started writing for the medical marijuanan section but need some direction in regards to;
1/when you want this rough copy finished for review and editing by
2/when the first edition is to be sent out by
3/where do you want it sent to
4/how many words, paragraphs etc. (you know me)

I really like the idea of having an in depth look at someone who does their own strains. I find that fascinating and would someday like to do it myself. When getting into clematis I discovered this breeder who created his own strains of absolutely stunning clematis. It was beyond impressive and I think I would be equally ,if not more impressed ,with learning how someone does this. It is ,not only exciting to observe, but extremely interesting and I bet many members here might start considering it themselves.

skunk... instead of a "ask Pot" section... i like those, but i've always liked more when a panel of 2-3 or maybe even more people all respond to a question... that way you get more than one viewpoint...
all you mods have diffferent ways of growing... and all have your own very distinct personalities...
how bout opening a thread where users can ask the mods something... just like one question per post... and select from there a few different questions that seem fairly intriguing or entertaining or whatever...
then have atleast 2 mods answer each of the 3 or 4 questions so that people get a broader perspective on the answer to things... and if you guys completely agree on something... that just kind of solidifies its validity...
just my opinion... but i think it could be a very intriguing section that would be easy to setup...
in a few days you guys can have a whole years worth of newsletter sections done...
and i'm open to doing most anything for the newsletter... i have no preference in where i'm going to be used... just let me know what still needs to get done...
