Things like national defenses are a public good because they are good for a nation as a whole so the whole nation needs to pay for it. If a person can’t afford their portion of the bill it is impossible for them not to receive to the benefit of national defense. But health insurance is an individual responsibility, not a right. Government intervention is one of the main factors in health care and insurance being so expensive. You can’t pick and choose what coverage you want in a lot of states because it’s mandated by law what insurance policies have to cover. Hell in one state I read about, I can’t remember which, the government was requiring insurance companies to cover hair plugs. Maybe it’s Joe Biden’s home state. Look at the problems with the V.A. and maybe you’ll think twice about a single payer system.

There are too many guns in the hands of American citizens for a large scale rounding up of citizens to take place. We’re also too independent of people. Maybe I’m wrong here but I think most American’s understand, this includes the individuals in the military that America is not its government, it’s the people of this country that the ultimate authority lies with. See we had a peaceful transfer of power so many times in this country its crazy to even think about. We’ve got our differences but one side’s not going to round start round up the other 47 or 48% of the country.

What about Hurricane Katrina when they disarmed everyone and rounded them up and put them in the stadium? Or the japanese internment camps 60 years ago?-Second amendment?? Do you have any idea how many Americans have no second amendment rights? Many people in the U.S. are prohibited from owning Guns , many are even prohibited from possesing other means of self defense like pepper spray and self sufficiency like knives and Bow and Arrows.you will make up some excuse for this but it is a fact and you seem to have no grasp of the situation at hand. Yes canada has a lower murder rate....and in the U.S. some states where more citizens have guns their is less crime like in N.H.- In mexico it is illegal for citizens to own guns.....how's that working out? In nazi germany they were also banned.

I'm not much for higher numbers but I believe that your math is wrong, I believe that 5,000,000X330,000,000 should equal like, 1,650,000,000,000,000, and that my friend is 1 quadrillion, 650 trillion, I believe that is even more than the national debt by a long ways, just saying, I could be wrong, But 330 millionX1,000 is 330 billion, right? 330 billionX1,000 is 330 trillion, right? then 330 trillion X 1,000=330 quadrillion, Right? BTW, a thousand thousand is a million.

So you think the "millions of Americans armed to the teeth" could go up against American military firepower? I think it would depend on who is in charge of the govt. A few years ago when Bush attacked Iraq there were people gathered not far from where I live with signs supporting our troops and our president. Now that President Barack Hussein Obama is in charge...funny how they are no longer out there supporting this administration and the troops. I really think people would be too busy fighting each other. Its really sad how we let ourselves get brainwashed into believing that people have a right to guns but not healthcare.

As for the O.P. with all the numbers....I'm sure we could safely eliminate 90% of 'defense' spending if not for the fact that we have bought a lot of hardware for the military....and with all those guns i'm pretty sure they will insist they continue to recieve their payments
