if not, then what are the advantages of 240...besides being able to plug more in?
More amps i think.
You pay by the kilowatt. Kilowatts are the same 120v Amps or 240 v Amps.
There are some efficiencies, but what you pay for electricity is the same.![]()
yeah i know this, i was saying i thought 240 provided more amps,
sorry, its l8 here lol. meant to say sonar has got it spot on!
What is your point then?
What do you want to know?
Google "Basic Electricity" I bet you'll find plenty of information.
Good Luck![]()
Good edit Sonar !
But doesn't 220 run 2 wires instead of 1 ?

It depends on the appliance. Some will use a 3 prong outlet, which needs 3 wires (black, white, bare) and some will use 4 prong (black, red, white, bare). I'd have to really check into the price of romex cable to compare, but I think the important thing is that you won't save on electricity by using 220v over 110v. It still uses the same amount of watts.
I meant 2 hot wires and a ground. That's what you'll see in the Romex.
P.S. - Out to the spa. C' ya
