Again, facts will bring out the truth.

1) Lower tax rates do not mean less tax revenue.
The tax cuts of the 1920s
Tax rates were slashed dramatically during the 1920s, dropping from over 70 percent to less than 25 percent. What happened? Personal income tax revenues increased substantially during the 1920s, despite the reduction in rates. Revenues rose from $719 million in 1921 to $1164 million in 1928, an increase of more than 61 percent.

The tax cuts of the 1920s
The share of the tax burden paid by the rich rose dramatically as tax rates were reduced. The share of the tax burden borne by the rich (those making $50,000 and up in those days) climbed from 44.2 percent in 1921 to 78.4 percent in 1928.
On top of that, in two years time in the early 20's taxes AND government spending were cut by 40 percent. Unemployment went from 11 to 7 to under 4 in those very same years. It's not a coincidence either. The private sector creates jobs the government creates debt. Not too hard to see which is better for the economy imo.

The small government deregulatory actions of which led up to the great depression, but lets ignore that fact...

And how did be get that manufacturing capability?? Debt...How did we run that debt? by straying from the gold standard...Contradict yourself often? Yes...Our government has been the chief driving force behind every single leap forward, even in the private sector. Modern technology is more of a result of defense spending more than anything else. Christ give it up...

Oh and the USA did not become the most powerful country in the world because we went into debt. No, we became powerful because our citizens are some of the hardest working and most innovative people on the planet when they do not have huge government sponsored obstacles in the way. After WW2 there were no countries with any manufacturing capacity left except the good ole USA. Guess who made everything the rest of the world wanted?

Alright, tax cuts do stimulate the economy, indeed, and we have tax cuts in place. LARGE tax cuts, and look what has happened...Loss of jobs, and the creation of debt. Everything has to be looked at in context. All the aforementioned tax cuts (short of the 80's) fell on high percentage tax rates, and yes, high percentage tax cuts, like 90 t0 71% stimulate and generate revenue. The Reagan tax cuts have some poor consequences as he oversaw the largest percentage increase in the US debt out of any on the past 5 presidents. Sometimes tax cuts are a good idea, other times they are not.

Tax cuts are not a good idea right now. I'm not for high taxes, just for proper taxing. If i get a bang for my buck then good.

lol No it wasn't. We had the Great Depression because of government interference with the free market ONCE AGAIN. The Fed set interest rates too low. Anytime you set interest rates artificially low you get mal investment. "Free money" does this. Prices rise against normal supply and demand economics. We recently saw this with the housing crisis that wrecked the economy and we still see this today with the skyrocketing price of a college education.
"Whenever monetary authorities allow the rate of monetary pumping to proceed at an accelerating pace, the purchasing power of money tends to fall by a much larger percentage than the rate of increase in money supply." The early bird gets the worm, followed by the bust being worse than the boom.

You left out the part on cutting government spending.
The reason the economy is lagging is the same reason the great depression lasted so long. Government manipulation in the free market.

Obamas stimulus plan said unemployment would be 8 percent. It's 10. People did not know how the government was going to manipulate the market so there was less investing and hiring. It wasn't necessarily that the economy would be bad, it was fear of the unknown that has held back investors and businesses from hiring.

The government prints up money and bails their buddies out which devalues the dollar. Buying power is reduced. We are seeing that now through higher prices.

Same thing happened in the great depression. In the steel industry FDR increased wages by ~30 percent in a years time. Prices rose along with this increase. The ones who received the manipulated raises could afford the higher prices.

Im pretty sure Walmart would give the government a good deal on a set amount of food or welfare people. You don't have to add anything, just give it to someone else to deal with. Walmart would probably do it for cost just to increase their orders which would drop their cost and make them money in the end. Quite simply put though. A 10 pound block of cheese, 10 pounds of hamburger, a few loaves of bread, and some milk/eggs is a lot cheaper than the 300-1000 that a lot of people are getting on food stamps atm.

Private interests could take care of this... have you ever helped at a food bank? I have. They give people plenty of food. It might not be a huge case of doritos and soda, but its food and it will take care of you. The food banks aren't spending 300 a month to feed a family.

It is pretty easy to see that most 'poor' people just don't give two shits about their own lives - Why would anyone else? Liberals are like Cuckoo birds, and Conservatives are like wild boars.

The only reason I would vote conservative is because I know at least I will have a gun to use to struggle against the oppression that is coming. Both sides are equally disgusting to me. I don't want my personal life or my financial life controlled. I vote the party of "Mind your own fucking business and and Ill mind mine"
I love the last paragraph. Just was wondering how your gun is going to do against the so called "oppression that is coming". If you really think government is going to oppress you, and then YOU ARE GOING TO FIGHT THEM WITH YOUR GUN?!?!?!?!?!???? I don't know if anyone told you, but as of the last century, a gun against the United States Military Arsenal is a fucking joke. If the U.S. Military wanted to oppress you, your gun would maybe be useful to shoot yourself. Or maybe you could use that gun to go and steal someones copy of Red Dawn, and fantasize about how you, your gun, Patrick Swayze, and Charlie Sheen were all hopped up on some coke and fought off the U.S. military with your automatic weapons. I doubt those things do much good against a bomber. Or a tank.

Let's talk about your strategy......you and your gun, how are you gonna topple the government once it oppresses you. I am interested in this......I am fine with people having guns, but I want to hear this story......

having a gangbang.

:fire:bwahahahahahahahahah!!!!!!!! :fire:
So, you go from personally attacking me to personally attacking my dead mother. Classy. Well, I can see your arguments have failed and you have resorted to personal attacks rather than having a discussion on the topic. This is typical, when a liberal cannot win on the facts he attacks the poster.

Since you have no arguments left it would be pointless to continue this conversation with you.

People don't keep guns so they can fight a war against the military, they keep them so that they may defend themselves from other people. Also the military does not waste its resources by sending multi million dollar hardware to take out a single individual. Besides, if guns are so useless why the fuck does everyone in the military have one?

There is a lot of speculation there...low interest rates we fighting a deflating dollar, which was killing production power. The depression was caused by an under regulated financial sector, and the mid west drought, not interest rates. Interest rates have never ever caused a depression, that is an economic fact, so don't go pinning the fed this, the fed that, while the real criminals were in the private sector, pouring tons of capital into deregulation. Depressions are made strictly by private sector factors. Much like some of the tax cuts worked, government spending also works as well, especially in the 30's. Taxes are a tool, not a solution.

PS unemployment was decreasing prior to those tax cuts anyway.

Oh here we go about the stimulus. Pin the guy up for a number, not the facts. Did your state government halt in the past two years? No, guess why? Stimulus. Even the most conservative state governor ended up admitting they needed that money or the gig was up. Unemployment is never going to be less that 6% in my eyes. Why? because most of the jobs we have are useless and bear little to no fruit. Business found out that the average american worker is performing a task that can be done if others just work harder. Thats what happens with lay offs. The only regret i have about the stimulus is the goddamn stupid tax breaks. What a retarded move. It has been proven time and again that tax breaks like the ones in that bill, do not stimulate anything. Direct government spending, food stamps, welfare, unemployment all do. But you know what really stimulates the economy? all the teachers, cops, firemen, town and state sanitation and highway workers jobs that were saved do.

Lets be realistic about this, instead of dramatic and boarish. This was an economic disaster by any and all means. 2 years ago the entire financial system took such a massive shit, entire countries went bankrupt (like iceland). What is the worst that happened here? 9.7% unemployment, which is serious, but not world ending. Retail and Business bounced back in two years, our 401Ks, and mutual funds have damn near recovered, if not outperformed their prior status. If you honestly HONESTLY think that letting states come to a screeching halt, and having entire local, state, and federal institutions fall flat on their face would result in a better outcome than what we have, then your opinion really should be disregarded.

If you gauge the the stimulus only by its unemployment numbers, then you miss out on the fact of what it did. If you want to go around, basing your opinion on fiction, then fine. But shit, how many jobs did it save? How many did it create? What if they didn't get saved or created? Christ, its about 2 years later and retail companies are logging in christmas spending on the scale of 2006's numbers.
If you think that was going to happen without a stimulus than please carry on ignoring what actually happened, instead of what happened in your mind.
