Hello fellow marijuana growers and enthusiasts. My name is TJP and I’d like to welcome you to my garden. I’ve been growing MJ for about 2 years now and have a few modest grows under my belt. I’ve grown in soil as well as Hempy in the past, But recently made the switch to DWC. The difference in night and day. Needless to say I’m a 100% DWC guy now and don’t plan on going back any time soon. I’ve been crusing the threads here for about a year now, taking in a TON of information, modifying my setup to mimic different parts of many people’s grows. Along the way through this adventure I will try my very best to give credit where credit is due and provide links to whatever I can find. A large portion of my growing areas have been DIY projects of my own designs and of others that I have found on the web, many of them from good old RIUers!! Big shout outs to BoomerBloomer57, SICC, Sub Zero, Flo Grow, onthedl0008, FuZZyBUDz, Wolfman Zen, Al B. Fuct, StinkBud, and Fditty00 just to name a few (I know I have forgotten many…..I’m a little stoned….what can I say?) for inspiration, ideas and/or input that has helped me get to the place I am today. But enough about me for now, let’s get to the girls……
I’m currently growing Northern Lights #5 x Arjins Haze from clone. This journal will mainly be focusing on 2 of my little girls. They were cut and placed in a DIY Bubble Cloner based on the design of Wolfman Zen https://www.rollitup.org/do-yourself/103903-best-diy-ez-walmart-dwc.html on 11/05/2010. 8 days later they showed their first roots and were left in the cloner for another 7 days to build a decent root mass before moving them to homemade DIY 3” net cups (made from old yogurt cups…. Oh yeah) filled with hydroton. The newly rooted girls then were placed into my DIY 5.5 QT DWC “starter” tub on 11/12/2010, and put into the Veg cab (also a DIY project of mine) under 4x23W 6500K CFLs set to 18/6 light cycle. Been Veggin there ever since, growing bigger and healthier every day. I topped the larger one on the right Yesterday (12/07/2010) and it didn’t even seem to phase her. Leaves still reaching up for the light and new growth every day. She now has 4 nice tops.
I’m attempting to turn this into a perpetual grow, taking cutting from each generation’s best candidate to start the next round before transferring them into the flowering chamber. It’s on a 4 week cycle as of right now since NL5xAH is a 9-11 week flowerer. A little longer than I’d like for a perpetual, but it’s what I got for right now so lets go for it. I’d like to change the genetics up a bit to a strain with a shorter flowering time, but for now this is all I’ve got.
Been feedin’ them Gen Hydro 3 part flora series at ½ strength according to their label instructions. Been using these nutes for 3 grows now. No complaints. They also get Botanicare Cal/Mag, Botanicare Sweet and some Grotek Monster Bloom later on when they get transferred to the flowering chamber, as well as H202 and PH up/down whenever needed.
PH stays between 5.5 – 6.5
Ambient temps range from 82*F – 65*F
Water tmeps 65*F – 70*F
Not sure if I’m leaving anything out (probably am….got some Headband from my buddy and it’s THE SHIT!!!!! Got me dazed….)
Anyways, now on to the Pics….. (bout damn time)
Here’s a few shots of the girls. The larger of the 2 (on the right) is the one that got topped a few days ago. She ALSO served as a mother for the next generation coming in after her.
Yeah I know the one on the left is a LOT smaller than her sister. That was a cloning mishap. While scraping away the bottom of the stem I accidently cut off the bottom 2 nodes. (shit!) Couldn’t take any more cuttings @ the time so I decided to put her in a little small (3” to be exact) and hope for the best anyways. She was actually the first to show roots, but turned out to be a much slower grower. Took longer for roots to hit the water but now that they have I'm starting to see steady growth. She may get cut later but all of my DIY 10gal DWC tubs have 2 spots for plants in them so may just leave her be. A little bud is better than none at all.

A peek inside the veg rez. A little small but it gets the job done. I only veg for 3-4 weeks then transfer to 10gal Rubbermaid DWC tubs in the Flowering room. (You’ll get to see those soon enough)

I got the original idea from Fditty00 here https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/311817-ditty-makes-57-grow-box.html Took a lot of tweeking and cost me more than it would have if I would have just bought one, but the experience of screwing it up, fixing it and figuring out every little detail for it is something I wouldn’t give up. She works great now and fits right in my closet!
And off to the side of the Veg cab is where I keep my filing cabinet. Nothing special here. Wait…. Why is the top drawer glowing?
Hey, we found the cloning cab!!
Just run some wires through the back and use industrial strength Velcro to fasten a light to the top of the inside, add Bubble cloner and Air pumps and wait about 7 days…..magic!!
I use the bottom drawer to store all of my nutes, ph up/down, ph tester, dropper and the million other things that are nice to keep close to the garden. Quite Handy!!
And that’s where we are now. Expecting to send them over to the flowering chamber in about another weeks or so. That’s when the fun really starts! So please, take a puff, pull up a chair and join me for my adventure. I don’t think of myself as a pro by any means, so any POSITIVE comments and suggestions are more than welcome. Let’s try to stay away from the negativity and the name calling here folks. (I’ll just put you on my ignore list and move on) I’ll be trying to update weekly (with pics of course).
