Why was pot quality so bad in the past?

Did people just not know to remove the males or something? If you look at old High Times from the 70's all the herb looks like this:

I'd compare it to cows, in a environmentally controlled indoor range, with natural grass.. except the cows are wayyy fucking hungry so they eat grass like crazy.. but the biodome they live in keeps them from getting sick or stressed, which produces perfect meat

I would still say my no1 priority for determining nice herb, is the smell (also our strongest sense).

Marijuana is a GMO through the process of selective breeding stronger genotypes and more attractive plants (phenotypes) are picked. its only gonna get stronger as time goes on..there still was the bomb as we have today it was just a lot more rare

I don't think the quality was as low as people try to say in these thc test...a guy on the news saying 1-2% thc in the 70s and 80s...and now thc with levels in the 20% and higher range


...I pretty sure the Thai and Gold I used to come across in the late 70s thru the early 80s would test higher than 2%...if it could be tested fairly against strains grown today...either they would test lower or it would test higher...but it is not a 2% versus a 20%...theres just no way possible

All the old people I know say that bud back then were barely stronger than cigarettes....

It just has to do with our increased knowledge of science and botany and experiments. I'm sure in the future we'll have whole entire marijuana plants that are just all drenched with trichomes and look like diamonds with no visible green. People are working on it

You just reminded me of a 2008 article where they uncovered a tomb of a man from 2000years ago buried with a bag of marijuana and they zoomed in on it and it was pretty amazing looking. it looked like some dirt brick weed. but zoomed in it was bright green with random red dots in the trichomes. They tested it for psychoactive properties and said they confirmed marijuana. ... google "2000 year old marijuana" article should be all over the place. some say 2700 year old stash. some articles have many pics. some have one. just find a good one

I believe nature is just a baseline to work off of and it can be modified and improved upon.

...I to tired to argue...lol...all I can say is that I was there then and I am here now....smoked then, and smoke now...and have been smoking for 30 years....the Gold I am refering to and also the Thai did not come in a brick form...it also was not "around" for everyone...if you could get it...and please ask others, not just me...it was every bit as good as what we have today
....google test don't mean shit to me if they are stating facts that are simply not true...a variety of smoke was available to me back then...good and bad....damn'it the good was GOOD!...now I can't argue anymore now...but some veterans will be here soon to back me up..( ...I hope...lol...)...and I'll be back in a few hours....gatta find a time machine or something
