"6 of one half dozen if the other buddy, dont make the commom mistake most people seem to when lookinng at led's and lights in particular... dont overthink and overcomplicate it too much, find a quality reputable light with proven results and good customer service, get it, grow with it and IF you feel the need for supplement lighting add it later, coupla correct spectrum cfls, t5's, hell even the new plasma induction lamps from the same company as the light i mentioned above ^^ next to the panel at flowering ive been told is pretty much the ultimate af far as 'new tech' lighting go"

I totally agree, the company I use Growl LED, has jsut put out T5 LED side and under canopy lighting, check out www.ledgrowlight.com

yes lets all go out and pay 2k for our led's crimble YAY how about NO sir.... There are equivalent products out there for cheaper do some more research im sure those work good but.... why spend 2k when you can spend 3 or 4 hundred bucks....

Arent the plasmas way more expensive ben?

oh yea they are lol just checked damn man u want to run 8 of em JESUS lol got ten grand to throw away real quick hahaha i bet it would work super sick though

One of them only pulls 240w or so and supposed to put out between 600w hps power to 1000w MH power thats pretty damn good and i've seen these lights before bright as hell looks just like sunlight. heres where i looked and found plasma lighting interesting stuff probably gonna put LED's out of competition if they can ever get price down on em

http://www.polar-ray.com/Stray-Light-PlasmaGrow_p_203.html

interesting stuff alright

just looked at those LED again crimble to see if i missed something i did, their cheapest LED is a 100w panel (SO NOT ENOUGH JUICE) and they want 400 bucks for it, oh and all their lighting is not for stand alone your supposed to use it as supplemental to HID or CFL. The LED i am using cost half what their cheapest one did and has twice as much power output and is a 6 band led that can be used for veg and flower and let me tell you the veg was INSANE and im sure flower will be too given that i am sog in a small space and will be doing scrog soon in the same space instead of sog. I dont need supplemental lighting with my led neither do the kessil lights.

KaptKron- You always find a way to crack me up. But plasma induction lights aren't ALWAYS expensive. I have one of those that Ben mentioned above, and it is surprisingly effective. You can get single color versions for much less @ inductionlamps.com. Plus, they have other cheap screw-in bulbs that have great supplemental potential.

You know I like LEDs, but these are great, too, and they are white light, with no uv concerns.

yeah just concerns me that the guy from the company said NOT to use it for germination at all but didnt explain why, i know led's are amazing at germ and veg, so ill see how they go in flower, im gonna get 2 plasmas to put next to one panel as a comparison, if its worth it ill get the rest later! be a good side by side huh?

I think it's because they are deceptively powerful.and perhaps someone cooked their seedlings and complained about it. There's no mention of that in the light description. They give off a honkin' bunch of bright light...and a little heat. But, you could just use one of the 40w 2700k versions from inductionlamps.com ($59 )and test how it helps flowering?

I like your new avatar, Ben. What's it mean?

dunno, got the pro grows on their way now and i think ive dropped enough cash for now without even having beans in the dirt yet lol but leds are proven performers in germ and veg and promote exactly the short internodal growth i want for my cobb hempies :) ill order 2 plasmas coupla weeks before flower and put them over 1/4 of my crop, see what happens.
it's the chinese character 'ma' the earliest documented written character for 'hemp' lol

Yeah, I figured you must've robbed a bank the way you've been buying out the stores. So, you're going to send for some of the bulbs? You're going to be amazed.

BTW- LEDs are every bit as good for flowering as vegging. The new, quality ones anyway. One problem with the Blackstar I bought is it tends to throw plants into flowering early. Maybe it's just because it leans on that end of the spectrum?

So that's what your avatar means? Too much!

lol yeah i got jack herrer's book and it was in there so i looked it up on google and had to have it lol it shows two hemp plants being grown under a shade ha ha.
didnt rob the bank, insurance company just finally got round to paying me and what better thing to spend some cash on then my medicine :)
yeah gonna get two of the plasma lamps and put one either side of one of my led panels as supplimentary lighting like ben from the company said they were bes fpr, see if it really makes a difference but i'll have 180watt of led and 100 watt of plasma over 6 8 inch cobb hempy pots, see what i yield and the quality compared to led alone...

Crimble- You're beginning to sound like a salesman? Are you? Are you getting any kickbacks from Growl LED?

I ask because there are plenty of quality LED lights out there that can match, or exceed, Growl products. And at a better price.

All you have to do is look around.

agreed i can have two 180 watts lamps from Haight Solid State, 360 watts total (no fans = more TRUE watts), for less than your 1 300watt lamp (with fans).

2.33 per watt with Haight Solid State 420.00 for a 180 watt or 840.00 for 360 watts vs. 2.91 per watt with Growl 875.00 for a 300watt.

whats more important IMO is i can spread my light out more because it is divided into two fixtures, unlike a 300 watt where i have to use one light and the footprint is never what is advertised...never not yet.

Im glad I found this thread because no one is answering my questions on whether its worth using LEDs to aid in my aergogarden grow. Im not trying to spend and enormous amount of lighting right now but i have found these LEDs

http://cgi.ebay.com/225-LED-Hydroponic-Plant-Grow-Light-Panel-14w-Red-Blue-/320625361733?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4aa6c2c345

http://www.amazon.com/LED-Orange-Spectrum-Hydroponic-2501QUAD/dp/B003AJ9O0A/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1291308460&sr=8-4

I was wondering if these are actually good quality lights, and will make a difference with the two CFLs that already run on a AG.

Clarification would be fantastic, thanks!

I would NEVER buy anything off of E-bay or Amazon if you can't return it to the dealer for repairs or customer service or upgrades, don't trust them. Those panels look cheep, kinda only good for supplemental lighting at best imho, those panels are cheep, so you get what you pay for. People interested in LED lighting need to be aware that their are many companies out there making LED grow lights, most of those companies are using cheep production methods and giving the LED grow light revolution a bad rep. Go with a reputable company that has proven itself in the industry consistently for several years, thats GROWL www.ledgrowlight.com, look into their products, they make the best Growlights on the market.

i've run one of those ebay budget ones, it's okay but not going to make a huge difference even in your 2 cfl setup (well depends on the cfl i guess, if you are using weak 9watt cfls or something then this panel would make a small difference and help), money would probably be better spent on more cfls
