Long term investment is key. Go with Solar for the long term. In a year i'm up around $400 with a base investment of 1100. I'm gonna be investing more.

If you had 20 grand to put on Ford in March of 2009, it would be worth a little over $300,000 today. F**K me!

might be a good short term investment but i doubt its a smart long term investment.all the hype right now is because of the ipo or initial public offering this is a price set by a new company that dictates the starting price of a stock.the company can set it to whatever they want gm is supposed start selling at 33$ but in order to make any money they need to hit 49$( so they can pay off the 53 billion dollar government bailout).personally i would wait till i could see their finicial statements and p/e ratio.just my opinioin tho good luck regardless.

you are wrong on this one.

what sets the price on an IPO is the required rate of return of investors, which is dictated by market interest rates.

good try though....

...i don't know much about this...I was thinking a short term thing just to see...maybe like 2 or 3 years...like with fords if I would of put in $1000...I could sell that today for about maybee $5000 or more...idk...but that's more than money is doing now...just thinking that it seems like a small short term stock investment of GM might return pretty nice in 2-3 years...if it does like ford

Well GM just reported to have a $2,000,000,000 profit last quarter so I dont think its a bad investment.

yes i know its still just a made up number they could set the ipo at 80$ a share it doesnt mean the stocks value is 80$ its tough to know what the stocks value is until you see some fininacial statements heres an excerpt from wikipedia
An initial public offering (IPO), referred to simply as an "offering" or "flotation", is when a company (called the issuer) issues common stock or shares to the public for the first time. They are often issued by smaller, younger companies seeking capital to expand, but can also be done by large privately-owned companies looking to become publicly traded.
In an IPO the issuer may obtain the assistance of an underwriting firm, which helps it determine what type of security to issue (common or preferred), best offering price and time to bring it to market.
An IPO can be a risky investment. For the individual investor it is tough to predict what the stock or shares will do on its initial day of trading and in the near future since there is often little historical data with which to analyze the company. Also, most IPOs are of companies going through a transitory growth period, and they are therefore subject to additional uncertainty regarding their future value.
