You are correct I may have misstated his position. He was not a creationist but had been quoted saying something along the lines that he admits the evidence is there but he just does not like the implications so he "chooses" not to believe. I just read that recently and will try to post a link when I can find it again.
Be careful. The creationist websites are rife with inaccurate quote mining, some have been completely fabricated.

"God" has been revealed unto myself once before. No joke. Since that night my life has never been the same - I can't explain it, or rather I wont explain it, but suffice to say I experienced and continue to experience glimpses into what I guess is the "divine" or other "dimensions." These experiences come to me at random times and places and they are as real as anything else in life. I wonder how many others might share that same connection I have...But unless I actually know you, there is no way in hell I would describe it to you. Way too sacred for sharing with strangers...

Because you derive some benefit from your believes does not make them any more true. The document you refer to was written in the bronze age by desert tribes men, not a supernatural being.

And your complete lack of respect for another individuals experiences is exactly why I wont discuss them here.

Not to mention your complete assumption of my religious orientation...which bothers me.

No actually the Bible was written by many different men from all walks of life over thousands of years. It is the inspired word of God written by men through the holy spirit.

more true than what might I ask?

OK, I just want to make sure I'm clear on what you're saying.

Are you saying that someone can only discover God while in these extreme moments of heartache and sorrow? When they reflect on themselves and their life after something traumatic has happened?

Surely you can't be saying that, and I don't think that's the position you're taking.

What about when a person does the same thing without going through something traumatic? When they sit down and reflect on their life and the way they've lived and existence? I've heard plenty of believers say Jesus will find you if you just ask and truly believe, etc.

Every time I learn something new or exciting about the universe I feel the same way. You're forced to look at the truth of reality for what it is.
Okay originally when you wrote this response, in someway I felt like you were directing the post in my direction. As it stands though, as a whole. Do you think he's a figment of our imagination. And no I'm not going to argue, but your thoughts on what I am about to say.

Back in January, I hit one heck of a wall. Causing me to go to the corner liquor store and buy some wisky (mentally I thought that was the answer, couldn't get the "cold" to leave). After I downed a third in less than 5 minutes, I swallowed two triamacets, and continued to drink a couple more shots. I was feeling fantastic (warm and fuzzy). On the outside I was a mess, I could help but cry because I was just so hurt by family rejection, I wanted it to be over with. Needless to say, I found myself crawling on the floor only to lay perfectly still (to stop the room from spinning). Next, my roomate took me off to the hospital, from there I was shipped of to a psych ward, in there....that was when I knew he was on my side (as it relates to experiences, he's always around each and every one of us:) ). Now the part I forgot to mention was when I was at the house, and smashed my head off the oven door handle. It had split my head open, but I didn't know it until I was admitted into the room. So as I layed there, I had my arm under my pillow....trying to find a comfortable position for my head. In the process, I felt my hair, it was completely soaked.

Right then and there, I heard a voice tell me, "Please relax my son, you'll be okay. Your message will be heard" Within 15 minutes my hair was damp, but the area that it was leaking from was BONE dry. I thought it was a mirage and I walked up to one of the nurses on staff, and said, "**** I'm healed, can you run a paper towel over this spot??" He does it, only to say that it is completely dry. So in disbelief, I walk back to my room, only to find my pillow is bone dry too (took only 30 sec. to get from the room to the nurses' station.)

Point is he IS all around us, he just doesn't want to been seen or heard, unless he has something he knows that is the only way we'll listen.

Just my .02, the silver-lining is there guys. Your nieghbourhood cowboy.

Peace love, rock'n'relaxation,

Why is it so hard to believe you [anyone with a testimony about God] could be wrong about this? Why is it so hard to believe that your senses shouldn't be trusted, especially if you are in a highly emotional or intoxicated state of mind?

Why does it always have to be God?

You jump from A to Z with 24 gaps in between that still require explaining.

Okay granted, but then how could it be possible to to have my brain hemorage on me (as I had wrote....it has happened more than once so I know what it feels like). No medical attention, because after the fact, I knew within my heart that i was going to be okay. And to this day, I often wondered what the cause of having my eyes feel like they're spinning in my head every time I have my blood pressure goes up (....like RIGHT now). In no way shape or form would I want an arguement to come from this. My hands are tingling like sum'bitch right now, I can't feel shit in my back...and you want proof.....sorry man I don't have any proof.

Peace, love, rock'n'roll,

Buddy

First of all little bug. I am much more educated than you obviously know. I have done many hours of research on all sorts of disciplines from electrical engineering to thermal and fluid dynamics. So don't come on here and try and belittle me on my own thread and treat me as some neanderthal. Why don't you go do some research on creation science and then come tell me that there could not be a God. As a matter of fact there is a very large part of the scientific community that support such science and have done extensive research. Go Google Dr. Raymond V. Damadian, Dr. John R Baumgardner, Dr. Robert Gentry, or how about some Evolutionists that converted such as Dr. Gary Parker or Nobel prize winner Dr. George Wald. Your arrogance looks a lot like ignorance from here.
I do not care how many hours you have spent researching on any subject. It means nothing to me, i treat people as i find them. I found you on your thread proclaiming the word of god. Fair game, no ?

Why is it the deluded get so upset when they are challenged. I get jehova witnesses intruding on my privacy but dont start jumping up and down on my doorstep when they tell me i shouldnt of had a blood transfusion that saved my life or that i wont be going to heaven becuse i refuse to be bullied into the god club through fear.

i will google those names and have a look. If thats your convincing arguement then im interested.

creation scientists ? i was not aware that those two words were ever used together like that. Are there such men ? Are they the same chaps that were called in to test noahs ark when that was found ? ;-)

i think you need to lighten up a little and not take yourself so seriously.

And im the arrogant one ?

When someone says something is the work of god its just a mix of luck and belief. You think that if you didnt start reading the bible that you wouldnt of been sent free? The bible, to most, is a tool of hope. People force themselves to believe the literature until they start thinking "its real, god is real, i must live as god wishes so or else ill burn in hell". I do believe the bible is good, but not for me. It gives hope to the hopeless makes them think god is helping them, consequently their lives get better because of this. Why? Because people "make" themselves happy by believing in god and think "im with god now, so i have to be happy and do better in my life" so they do, they turn their lives around thanking god its all good now not knowing god had nothing to do with it, it was their determination to be a better person. You should really thank yourself.

I just wanna clear up my beliefs. I dont believe in a religion, but i do believe in "godly beings". I am not going to be christian solely because thats whats in my community its as stupid as believing that "YOUR HOOD" is the better hood just because your in it. When someone says they saw god how do they know its him? What if its a divine soul, but not god? Maybe a dead relative? OR maybe its you?

Actually you specifically told me to do some research. Then proceeded to call me ignorant and now deluded. Should all this not offend me? I try not to take it personal but when I start a thread saying share your testimony of God and all we get is criticized. Constantly people are saying that Christians are oppressing me and society. But the proof is on these threads. Its usually not the Christians doing the oppressing its the other way around. Such double standards going on here. How was my original post offensive to anyone? How did I provoke you to come on here and insult me?

Anyways those names are just a few. I have many names of secular scientists that will argue against evolution and some for creation. I would also throw out that people should also look into the psychological understandings and how that ties together with religion. I would suggest an author named Josef Rudin. He has several interesting books on this subject.
