Dj Ruiners feeble attempt at his first DWC grow...Jacks Classic only.

tonights pics....have yet to water party girl...since lowering my temps...and having the cup sitting in the net pot of the dwc...it seems to not dry out as fast now...before if i was late by an hour watering it...it would wilt to almost dead looking..then spring back up within minutes of watering...but now after topping the cup off with perlite,and low temps...she seems to not suck up as much water as quickly..slowly getting the buds to form on there...but pretty much par for a sativa....its almost all green again..so i guess she is nice and healthy....for those that think ph dont matter....should have seen this thing before i got a decent tester

Damn, the party girls getting big, love the name btw!! You think that thing is going to finish before the end of december, looks like she might flower for a while!

I've got 3 little sprouts that are just getting there true leaves, 12/12 from seed in a party cup is the plan.. I wonder how long they will take to show sex on this light schedule, any experience with 12/12 from seed?

I have some Jock Horror I have growing right now just vegging but I heard some people taking it 15-16 weeks! Suggested is 11-12 but the high gets totally changed it was interesting listening to it, I believe it was a YouTube video. I'm assuming the Jack's Classic is a sativa as well.

im pretty sure jack classics is just the nutrient he is using, I use to use in when I did soil and soil less its cheap and pretty effective granual fertilizer with complete micro already in it I stopped using it when I started DWC because I was unsure about it working.

the name is fitting for her...and i hope it will finish by then..if not..im not to worried about the contest...now i just wanna see how much i really can get out of it.and i just looked back...its only 11 days into flowering...seems like longer then that but its not.and im going 12/12 on the dwc...these was on 20/4 before i switch to 12/12 to flower...so doing my first 12/12 myself

most sativas do take much longer...but they also tend to grow much taller...which is why they take longer to flower...really depends on the strain...each is different.and jacks classics is the nutes im using jacks classic grow/bloom.pretty much covers everything i need but Mag and Cal...so to make up for that im using 1 tbls of epsom salt for mag and eggshells in the water for cal...and ph up/down since i have shitty tap water.i have a mix of that and a mix of AN's big bud and 1 tbls of molasses that i use every other feeding with the jacks classic.my ph runoff is right at 6.0...never thought it would hold ph so well will all i was pumping into it

jacks as been working great for me..used it to finish off my last plant and doubled its size right before harvest.and the plant im growing now is in soil with a couple inches of perlite on top....it was a project i had going that i didnt plan on keeping the plant..but after getting a now almost 2 foot plant in a party cup..i had to keep her after she showed hairs....its now growing about an inch+ a night....but im currently germing some seeds to start my dwc grow...im going to use the same nutes for my dwc grow as i am for the party cup...like you said wasnt sure about using jacks classic in dwc...so i figured id do a good test of this stuff in hydro setups...maybe give a final answer on that...i have yet to find a real answer.only thing i wont be using that im using now is the molasses...i know thats a no no for hydro

got some new pics tonight...also...again...redid my grow box.since im keeping the back off during lights on time..the vents and fans was kinda pointless and taking up room...so i pulled them out..redid the lights...put up a lil rack on the side to hang stuff..lights,meters,run wires....fit perfect in the box and helps like a mofo getting the lights where i want them.ive got the new dwc in the box waiting for the seeds to pop...and still got party girl sitting in one of the nets pots...and now the roots are starting to grow through the bottom and down into the water...but shhhh..dont tell...it will dq me in the party cup contest

got some pics for tonight...ive got a whole new root system starting on the party girl...after seeing that the roots starting growing out the bottom of the cup...yesterday i took another party cup..make much bigger holes in the sides and bottoms..transplanted party girl into the new cup..then duct taped a net cup to the bottom...after a few hours of being in the new cup...with the roots now getting water from the dwc...the roots started exploding out the bottom...this girl just went from a soil grow to a dwc grow...witout even coming out the soil...and ive got 2 seeds in rockwool that have broke the surface and is under the light...and another sprout that i left germing that got huge..so it went right into hydroton in a net pot...so i guess the dwc is underway..woo hoo
also tossed in a pic of some new stuff i got last night..no idea what it is..but its dank as hell..kinda lemon/cirtus like

yeah..i hope it isnt a problem either...but it should be ok..12 days into flower....and its not a transplant really...went into the same cup...with bigger holes...no new soil or nothing like that...which is part of what causes transplant shock i think.just went from cup to cup...seeing as it has grown 2-3 inches of new roots in a day it seems to enjoy it...and im not having to water this damn thing 1-2 times everyday

I doubt you have much to worry about bro, I transplanted the 2 girls I have now and they where further in flowering plus they where in clay pots and that shit didn't go smooth at all! Needless to say there doing fine so I'm not a big believer in stressing a plant very easily..

all kinds of new pics tonight......

guess ill start with the party girl....this chick is growing roots like crazy...about a 1/2" new root growth every 3 hours...been doing pics about every 6-10 hours on it.first pic is it 10 hours after i transplanted,second pic is 10 hours later,third pic is 6 hours after that (right now)

i placed one of the rockwool babies in the net pots,sitting in hydroton that was pre-soaked in water with a ph of 5.8...this was the first one to start showing roots out the bottom

still have one seed in perlite/rockwool...it should start showing some roots tomorrow..then in the dwc it goes also.

this will give me 4 plants in there total....been a good little practice run...soon as i see everything is working well ill start germing some real seeds..and then the fun begins

so far so good......
ive got the party girl blowing up with bud and new roots growing like crazy...she is just taking forever...damn sativas

the new rockwool sprout is doing great...getting nice and green and growing on pace...the water from the dwc is keeping it pretty moist.
the one still in the cup of perlite is doing good too..no roots out the bottom yet...but i looked down into the rockwool and the root
is kinda coiling down to the bottom...hope its ready later tonight..still early for me.

also took another seed after it germed in put it straight into the net pots,
without rockwool..and it has sprout today...so it seems the dwc is doing its job

Hows the water level been since the begining when the first attempt dryed up? Did you just end up raising the water level?

yeah..but i knew it was gonna take a while...i hope these new ones end up being indicas...but i doubt im keeping them...just doing a test run...which i always do...when i try something new..still got my papaya,bubblelcious,and g-13 haze seeds waiting to go in.
and didnt change the water level at all...same as before..but i had to change out a check valve...it was defective...i could not even blow through the damn thing.why it went dry before..i still dont know...but this water has been in there for 2 weeks...just plain water.and the water level hasnt changed at all.i cant figure out why the levels dropped so bad before.there are no leaks at all...guess just the one air stone working wasnt enough...now the whole top is getting wet on the inside of the lid...bubbling like hell...and the levels are staying perfect.....soon as the roots from the other babies start to pop out the net cups,ill be doing a res change..at that time ill be starting my nutes at 1/4 strength...and the good thing about the party girl...she still has roots and soil in the cup...so i take it out and water the cup with bloom nutes...its getting the best of both worlds...constant fresh water with the new roots...and bloom nutes going to the old roots...she seems to like it...i might have found a new way to grow in dwc..cant find anyone else thats done it this way on here

Well everything definitely seems to be working well now!! The dwc/soil grow is very unique, I've never heard of anyone doing it either.. So for the most part, the first few weeks of dwc is going pretty well then I would assume!? I can't wait to start my first hydro grow, I'm curious to see the growth in veg with these girls compared to dirt. So how much in total did you spend on the pump, air stones, hydroton, net pots and whatever else I would need to start a little 5 gal dwc?

Oh and do the roots sit in the water or are they just barely touching the water? I'm just trying to get a visual of how everything works..
