DWC 20 plant sog question.

i was gonna suggest you break off one clone, replace the collar in the net pot, and use it like (my girl's va-jay) an access hole.

but, you did even better.

very smart move, bro.
now, i'm betting you'll do quite lovely by creating some space on that lid.

i will check out your soil grow right now.

here's a couple shots of what i got crackin. have until october-ish so the flower pics are early stages.

got clones lined up like soldiers ready for battle & just bought an extra grow tent for the overflow.

i'm such a grow whore.

i rock soil & dwc (buckets & cloner) too.

maybe we're kindred spirits... or maybe we just REALLY like to grow the dank :joint:
Damn bro everything is looking healthy as fuck. Nice and green how they should be. Yeah man, i like to explore my options. Thats why im doing both soil and hydro. I have a single plant in a dwc bucket, i have these 12 going and i have the 18 plant soil grow. I harvest 2nd week of october too. Its going to be a good month for us. Oh i see ur from tri state area. Im from SE Pa myself. So ur right in my neck of the woods. And maybe we are kindred spirits. And i REALLY do love to grow dank. Oh and i got a white widow outdoors right now that is pushing 6 1/2 feet so im looking forward to chopping that bitch down in october too. Hellz yeah. PEace bro and keep them cherries burning. GL

right outside illadelph, my man.

yes, october is looking like a fine month for us both.

i got 10 of these going right now : http://www.sanniesshop.com/jack-berry-f2.html

once i find the perfect pheno (and 50% got the purples), and we talk & contribute & hang on the net for a hot minute, i will clone off and gift few for your head ...if you like.

now that's the kind of "brotherly love" u will never ever see in streets of philly.

ya hear.

phillies fan?

you know october is for baseball & blunts, right?

ok thats what im talking about. October is def for baseball and blunts. I was just at citizens bank 2 weeks ago when we played the giants. So am i a phillies fan? YEZZIR!!!The jack berry looks off the fucking hook. It looks really similiar to my sour diesel. Ur right, i will never see that type of love in the streets of philly, but im down to swap strains sometime. Hell yeah. pEACE bro

i am new to dwc and have had a hard time finding out some information. i hope you dont mind me bustin in here lol. how often do you add nutrients to reservoir and how often do you completely change reservoir? here is an image showing what i am working with.

i know dudes that top off their dwc nutes.

not a fan.

i change out every 7 to 10 days.

wasteful, maybe.
root rot, never.

plus, when you get the plant moving along, you can tweak the nutes (higher ppm, different additives, whatever) to your liking.

buy a ppm meter.
score a little hygrozyme, multizyme, or cannazyme.

personally, i dont sweat ph either. drift is fine as long as you monitor.

i start at 5.5 and by the time i am in the high 6s i am ready to change out anyway.

so you are saying just change out completely every week to ten days? you replace with ph balanced and fresh nutrient enriched water correct? what ppms are you starting with and what does it drop to just before change? i am currently 6.1 ph and 890 ppm.

your ppms may be a little high... but that plant looks mighty nice in the picture.

i know there are strains that will take 1200+ ppms.

i also know that ph drift is important to the uptake of nutes.
on the other hand, and it may seem contradictory, you don't want drastic ph changes... slow & gradual is the key.

the idea is : as the plants takes in nutes & water, the chemistry in the bucket changes.

at lower ph or higher ph, plants will uptake certain elements... and this is where "lock out" comes into play... the plant(s) wants/needs an element but the ph is not in the correct range for that element's uptake.

i have been experimenting with ppms quite a bit in a extra bubble cloner i have ...& what ppm to run depends on factors like: strain, plant & stage (seed, early veg, early flower, flower), clone, environmental conditions, etc...

i never rock seedlings in dwc; so, that's a moot point there.
i only go from clone to dwc; this way, i can be absolutely sure i've got good, long, hairy roots that go right down into the bucket.

i run clones at 200 to 350 ppm
i run veg at 350 to 600
i run early flower at 600 to 750
i flower at 750 to 1000+

still, like a good pimp, i let my ladies tell me what they need.

i study up all the time in the "infirmary section"... i check pics of people issues, read (and re-read) the stickys, and study my own plants.

change outs : i know dudes that NEVER change their buckets & do great... just as i know dudes getting root rot on the regular.

prevention is the key. being clean is the key. disolved oxygen (air pump) is the key.

yes, i change out every 7 days if i am feelin spry... 10 days if i am feeling lazy.

i also change out often because i could care less what my water temps are.
be careful with frozen bottles, roots will die when left exposed to ice cold bottles for long times.
just use the right size container scaled to your bucket.

i was thinking of maybe going to igloo coolers (genius), like bloomer57, but right now it's just an expense i dont need.

insulating the buckets is cheap & easy.
however i change out on the regular and use the nute water on my lawn & plants.

i run 6 buckets & keep 6 extra buckets & lids all clean & ready to go with extra tubing, extra stones, and all that.

so, every week (+ or -) i start fresh.

until i go rdwc & buy a chiller, my low maintenance dream, i just change out on the regular.

hygrozyme (or cannazyme or multizyme) and h202 are your best friends... just know when to use each & never over do it.

depending how far into my change out schedule, i don't always add nutes to the buckets. when i do change out : i get my water level right, mix my nutes & double check ppms, & THEN set my ph.

if i am feelin nerdy, i do the water & nutes the day before... and adjust ph the following day. i don't check ppms everyday unless the plant is drinking tons of water... which will change bucket chemistry.

with a ppm meter, you can actually see when the plant is taking nutes out of the solution.
with your eyes, you can see when the plant is "drinking" water.
you just adjust accordingly.

i do keep 3 gallons of pre-mixed, NON PH ADJUSTED, nutes (for whatever stage i am in) at the ready in case i need to top off.

i simply break off a gallon into a container & adjust the ph right before i add to a bucket(s).

with three closets going, a cloner, my experiments, and cracking beans, i do spend at least an hour every day in my garden... so i always know what's going on.

don't think for a second that root rot will not happen. when it does happen, it jumps off fast.
i don't adovcate not checking/controling your water temps.
i just don't play that (and another) game.

with ph, i think, most hydro guys like to start in the 5's with ph.
as i said, i like 5.5 (ish).

i DONT play the ph game either... i let it drift & adjust if i need to.

did i answer all your questions?

if not, flo grow, has his shit quite tight.
he's an excellent source of information.
and, i will check back.

hey bro this is an excellent post. +rep. thanks for taking the time to explain a little of this to me. i did do a successful dwc/bubbleponics...ill attach an image to show you results. i was happy but am still not ready to make the change to the rest of the garden....ill see how this plant does and ill take it from there.

nice photos!

no problem on the post & you're very welcome. thanks for the compliments & rep.

i totally understand about not making the 100% switch to dwc.
there's a definite learning curve & shit can go wrong with the quickness.

i still rock some soil as part of my operation because it's less drama, less work, and easy to do.

nevertheless, dwc (and hydro in general) has advantages : fast growth being my favorite.

good lookin.

i think your grow will do nicely, and the 400w is fine... overall lookin good so far, just keep and eye on things and you will get the swing of working with water.
Thanks for the positive reinforcement. Ill think it will be ok too. I was just a lil shaky at first, but my man gudkharma, got my back so thats a big burden lifted. SEriously RIU, gudkharma knows his shit when it comes to hydroponic growing and hes not afraid to help a fellow grower out. I wish more people on here would have the attitude that he has. Oh defcomexperiment, i peeped ur grow real QUICK, it coming along nice man.Helluva nice grow. Keep it up....GL'09

Whats up everyone? Hows it going? Im having an awesome weekend. The weather is phenominal. I also have some great smoke that just got done curing for this weekend. Its the sour diesel. Same sour diesel thats in this grow. Timing couldnt have been better. The lil ladies are doing awesome. They r growin at a fast rate. Faster than soil by far, no dought. Quick question, i have 2 little girls in soil and they r in the same tent as the hydro setup. Is this ok, or will they mess one another up? Anyway heres some pics and hey kharma, the pic of the bud 7 weeks into flowering, thats the bubblegum in picture 6 and in the background in a bunch of pics....:peace:and keep on keepin on!!GL'09

Anybody know...say i wanna journal this grow. Can i keep it right in this thread or do i have to start a new thread with the journals...AND DO U GUYS WANT ME TO JOURNAL THIS GROW?U THINK IT WILL BE INTERESTING ENOUGH AND WILL U GUYS FOLLOW?LET ME KNOW

Hey everybody. Whats going on? Just wanted to throw an update up with some new pics of the plants. They are shooting towards the moon still but i have noticed the growth slowin down. Minor, whoever noticable. I need them to stop with in another 3 or 4 inches so i dont out of roof space. I bumped up the rez to 575ppm of general hydroponics maxi grow. That was yesterday and todays, so far so good. They are adujusting very well. I have my sceen built for the top. So i might add that in i few days and i will put some pics up of that process too. I said before and ill say it again. The net is not for a ScRoG,its for a support system and noyhing else. So anyway, heres some pics, enjoy, comment , anything. Peace....Ganja:joint:

h202 1 tsp per gal per day. look into food grade h202 at a heath food store if your going to be eating any of it.
