the blue cheese ive grown doesnt come close to the smell that big buddhas cheese gives off. ive never grown blueberry, only smoked it....i really like bluecheese though so am sure you will have a good smoke on your hands

Just visited your grow, and damn str8, you will be 'round soon'. Your buds look sweet for 3-4 weeks in-- we def have to compare notes on the smoke.

i think last year i let them go for about 9 to 9 1/2 weeks to finish. but i do an assortement of different strains and harvest all at once. but i think they were ready by week 8. i just like to go a little longer to try and get the best flavor.
this year i only went for 8 1/2 weeks cause i started to see a little budrot on the white rhino so i chopped everything and put all the clones in for the round 2 grow.

Less than 3 weeks to go to harvest, and things seem to be going pretty well. There are two factors that my limit the yield a bit, though:

Too Damn Hot - A lot of folks here are having the same issue, so I don't feel so bad. The weather has been hot for an extended number of days, so even the basement ambient air is well over 80 degrees, meaning my cab has a hard time staying below 90.

Sucky Reflector: The reflector I have now is not well suited to hanging just above the buds. It has a large hot spot and is fairly dark around the edges of my screen. I think I may have to live with it until I can build the new grow space and utilize a larger reflector that I recently purchased.

pic 1 and 3 look like a ways to go but pic 2 is looking very nice. i like your little setup you have. i am having some temp issues myself but have overcome for the most part by using homemade cooltubes that i made using the pyrex bakearound tubes and running my lights at night time. i bring in outside air to my room and during the day would just be too hot. i like that you have all bluecheese growing. i like an assortement of smoke and even tho the bluecheese is one of my favorites, its just not a big enough yeilder for me to have enough smoke to last me a year.

Thanks for the info. I'm now thinking I might stagger the harvest a bit-- take one cola at week 8, another three days later, and so on. I can start with the most finished looking buds. This is my first grow with this strain, and I need to gain some sense of how the high develops as she ripens.

I have found that the high from a single strain can vary a lot depending on the timing of harvest; the same plant can smoke (vape) like a totaly different strain. I need to look into the 'staged' havest a little more though-- don't want to shock the plant too much. Time for more research at RIU.

Nice to hear your grow is coming along. Post some pics, or better get a journal going-- this one has been a great experience for me as I record my successes... and things that need improvement next time around.

I'm now on -edit- day 47, and will start harvesting in 10 days. Here are some pics of the grow today, and a couple of buds facing their last days.

I will start with these at week 8 and then harvest most of the rest of the grow at week 9.

You may recall that I took one of the Blue Cheese outdoors. I had a rotten time dragging out the sack of soil (getting all scratched up, muddy and exhausted), and then just abandoned the plant there.

A few weeks later, I stopped by to check if it was ok, and found that something was digging at its roots, but that she was holding up ok. Then the drought hit, and I didn't even go out to water her.

I decided to check on her today, and to my surprise, she looks great:

She is about 44" tall, and other than a few insect chewed leaves, seems pretty damn healthy. I will go back to ignoring her (since I think she likes it that way), perhaps visiting again in early September, to see how she's flowering. I'm just tickled that she ain't dead yet.

I think they'll be a bit early at 8 weeks, but still want to try two or three buds, just to see what the high is like-- I'm probably also just craving a little taste of this girl.

I only wish there was a way to sit down with all you folks one evening, cook up some scrumptious grub and blaze away with our homegrown together.

Ok, I'm starting to hear a theme here--- the 'wait one more week' crowd has won me over; I'll hold back the knife a bit longer.

i have a 30x jeweler loupe to look at the trichs for a closer inspection as to clear,clouder or amber color. but overall you can just look at the plants without the jewelers loupe and see when they are about ready. the buds will change in appearance. when it happens you will know.

Ya, my buds can definately be counted among the first set of pics you show. Thanks for putting them up there. I have been surprised at how 'Blueberry' the Barney's strain is, which would give it a longer finish.

I just noticed that I mis-represented the age of the buds in my last set of photos-- they were only 47 days old, rather than 54. So, I'm not even at 7 weeks yet. Took a look at the trichs, and they are still pretty imature, too.

Nice to have you sign up. I will be putting up more pics by tomorrow night-- should be ready to harvest in about 10 days, though the hairs have not yet started to turn color.

Thanks I think the compliments, especially for a new grower are great since there's really no other outlets and my soon to be wife gets annoyed when I start talking about them too much, although lately she's coming around and reading the forums so

Hairs are just starting to turn red. I look forward to feedback from you folks as to when to cut. It is at least 10 days away yet.

hey nitegazer, i keep checking in and seeing its 10 days away, then another 10 days away lol... why not chop a little bit and try smoke it ? always hard to judge from photos but you'll know pretty damn quickly when its in the bowl and in your lungs if its ready or you want to be totally couchlocked. personally i dont like being super smashed, i prefer the high from sativa but i just cant wait that long and the height issues kill me, so indica it is, but usually a little earlier then most on RIU would prefer. i'll keep checking in though as either way its looks like its getting pretty close peace
