hey nitegazer, i keep checking in and seeing its 10 days away, then another 10 days away lol... why not chop a little bit and try smoke it ? always hard to judge from photos but you'll know pretty damn quickly when its in the bowl and in your lungs if its ready or you want to be totally couchlocked. personally i dont like being super smashed, i prefer the high from sativa but i just cant wait that long and the height issues kill me, so indica it is, but usually a little earlier then most on RIU would prefer. i'll keep checking in though as either way its looks like its getting pretty close :) peace
Yeah, well this time I mean it. 10 days!:cuss:

Actually, I have some friends coming over this weekend, and will probably have a little sampling of the girls. I prefer sativas as well--and will want to harvest them before they get all amber.

This is the first indica I have grown since I was in college. The next crop will be G13/Haze and Acapulco Gold (vegging now). I have some Kali Mist coming in the mail for my winter crop-- an old favorite.

I find that with scrog, I only need about 1 foot more vertical space for sativas than indicas, and fortunately can handle that in my cabinets.

I look forward to harvest so I can check out the weight of the yield, too. I am hoping for between 5-6 oz, but I have no ability to estimate dry weight from a bunch of wet bud, so I won't have the final verdict until the end of the month.

Ok, after looking at the trichs yesterday morning, I figured it was time for the girls to come down. I spend a fair amount of time last night trimming, so I won't be able to put up pics until tonight.

I was surprised at how few leaves there were to trim-- not sure if that's an indica thing, or if I just was able to get a better bud to leave ratio on this grow.

The smell is amazing-- a pungent fruity scent with a bit of spice.

More tonight---

Kali Mist, is some superb bud!!!

I had a feeling it was going to take longer then you thought before. Happy to see the time and care you put in to get the best weed possible! :leaf:

ColaFarmer,

Right you were! I am glad you (and others here) convinced me to hold off a bit. Trichs were about 20% Clear/70% Milky/10% Amber.

The time also gave me a chance to run my version of 'flushing'. I am in the minority on this board in that I do not flush with pure water. I steadily bring the nutrients down to 1/4 over the last two weeks of the grow-- I like to keep my leaves green up through harvest.

The buds are now drying; I will post dry weight and pics in a week or so.... (now is the hardest part of waiting)

No idea what your schedule was or high type you were looking for but, they do seem like they could of went a bit longer. That's all my opinion of course. No disrespect by it. It looks great, makes me look forward to the Big Buddha Cheese in the future. :leaf:

They may have been able to go a bit longer, but I'm trying to avoid a bit of the heavy indica high-- didn't want any more of the trichs to go amber. I usually vape sativa. From your interest in the Big Buddha strain, I imagine you are more into indicas.

Thanks for your view, though-- certainly no disrespect taken. I'll have to play around with the harvest time of future grows to find out what is the very best for my needs.

I'm into buds; big, small, purple, green, pink, indica, sativa, and crosses of the two. I give each it's need and purpose. The only reason I'm going to be possibly growing "BBC" would be for possible crosses with some other creations I have going on. :leaf:
**I do know my next grow will be...

-Females-
"Hash Plant", "BBC", "Jilly Bean", and "Space Jill"

-Males-
"Hash Plant", "Querkle", and "Romulan"

Space Jill and and Querkle are two that I have some interest in. Right now I'm settling in to Kali Mist (the upper), Blue Cheese (the downer), and G13/Haze (the hallucinagen). I got a Acapulco Gold as a freebie that I need to evaluate yet. The only kind of strain I want to add right now is a sativa dom for indoor or out.

I don't feel motivated enough to pick up breeding(just growing is addictive enough!)-- hats off to you, though. I would definately sub to your journal.

Ok, the results are in! Total weight is 127.3g-- almost exactly 4.5 oz.-- it's a little less than I was hoping for (I was looking for 5-6 oz), but I'm very pleased over all. There is still a couple more weeks of curing to go, but the blueberry flavor is already strong when I vape. It is very different from the spicy, almost peppery flavor of G13/Haze.

Potency is strong (my spouse and I each share a hit-- giving us each a nice ride), but very up. It's great weed for conversation and getting work done around the house. I was concerned that being an indica, the Blue Cheese would be 'heavy', but at least harvested at 8.5 weeks it makes a good daytime smoke.

The biggest issues limiting yield were--
* Temps over 85 for much of the flowering period
* Poor coverage of the reflector-- the plant directly under the light produced 40% more in weight than the plants to the side
* Using 3 plants from seed (either using clones or 4 plants would have resulted in a bit better coverage)
* A bit of Nitrogen deficiency in the early weeks of flowering

Most of the issues will be addressed when I build out my new grow room-- under the stairs of my basement. I've been feverishly planning the new space, and will start a thread on the project in mid-September-- I hope some of you will follow that project.

Overall, I am very happy switching from soil to ProMix. The super light medium boosts root aeration, and the inert medium is easy to keep bug free-- and it is super simple.

My next crop will be G13/Haze and Acapulco Gold, which will be ready to flower in two weeks-- giving me enough time to clean up the cabinets. I will probably just post occasional pics on my grow Journal-- as I will be concentrating on the new grow space I mentioned.

Thanks for coming along on the ride-- stay in touch!

Nice to have you stop by.

Progress on the new grow room is moving, though more slowly than I would like.

Electrical is done, and I'm in the middle of framing. I'm taking pics and am journaling along the way, so I can post a thread on it once I'm finished. The goal for completion is Friday April 15. I have a party on the 16th, so need to have the place cleaned up proper.

By way of a preview: I am building out the space under my basement stairs (3x10-- with a slanting ceiling) to hold separate veg and grow spaces. Emphasis is on environment (ventilation, heat), stealth and safety. I will have a 3x4 flowering area, which more than doubles what I had in this thread.

As for strains, I have Blue Cheese mothers that I will clone while I dial in the environment. I also expect to receive some seeds by next week: Vortex, Querkle, Kali Mist and freebie Bid Bud. I plan to start the Kali with some G-13 Haze seeds I have in storage-- I am very excited to compare the two sativa doms in growth and potency, and will certainly run a grow journal on that.
