OK I just read through the last couple posts. Sorry I was pretty tired last night I just got done driving 6 hours from the beach. If it's the borer beetles you'll see like brown saw dust looking stuff at the area in question and it gets all swollen up sometimes. I wasn't 100% sure, but I think mine came in the bottom of the stalk, worked its way up the entire plant, and once it started narrowing towards the top it busted through. Plant went from looking fine to dead within 3 days, although who knows how long it was digging through. It could just be rot too, it's hard to say without a pic. Is it just soft or is there any kind of discoloration going on?

Oh BTW good luck with the new job man! Haha, that's part of the reason I tried growing too.

I don't think it's a beetle, I think I was over watering and it got a little rot at the base. I've moved it so that it get's more sun, and cut back on the watering. I think it's going to be OK. I don't really know much, but I think it only needs about a month and it will be finished.

I'm stumped man. They obviously aren't autos, but the days are still pretty long so that's crazy they are flowering, especially the first one that started in june. I guess that's not a bad thing, is it? I would have loved if one of mine started flowering in june and now one in early july, haha. Just a guess, but maybe the bushy indica one can be a different pheno??? Can you throw up some pics of the ones that are flowering when you get a chance? I'd really like to see this.

I think Jock Horror is a hybrid (NL x Skunk x Haze)

The issue is that they are all supposed to be the same strain, Kaya Gold which is sativa dominant. Well there are really two issues. One plant started flowering in june, but it has the same overall look as the others. One plant looks completely different, more bushier like an indica, and yes the fingers on the leaves are different, thinner.
They are all flowering now. I'm not too terribly suprised. Don't forget, mine are in the woods in an opening that gets about 5-6 hours of direct light. But, it's pretty thick in there, so it is probably "dark" to the plant before the sunrise/sunset table says that it's dark. Tables may say 14 hours of light now, but the plants may be only getting 12.

OK and update. All my plants are flowering now. The short one that started in June is really coming along. I think it will be finished in a month or less.

I had to bury the buckets about 1/3 or the way in the ground, because the wind kept blowing them over.

I also had to stake and tie everything because they are getting top heavy.

I apologize, I'm a lousy photographer with a piece of shit camera. I can't get closeups of the flowering without them being very blury. You can tell by the mass at the top colas.

That plant in the second picture looks like it has a cola that shoots up another 3 feet past the top of the plant. Good stuff man. Too bad you can't get better pictures of the buds but it is obvious you've got something good going on there. How's the smell? I think today was the first day I could actually smell mine while just standing by them. It is starting to get exciting.

Tallest ones about 8ft, the shortest that started flowering early is about 4ft. Other 3 are 6 to 7. I'll tell you what I'll do, if I get a change this weekend, I'll take out a 6ft tall ladder. I'm going to try to get my wifes camera and see if I can get bud shots. I got to play it cool, she ain't cool, and don't know nothing about my secret garden.

Suprisingly, not a lot of smell. I'm wondering if the high heat is going to effect the bud quality and THC content.

Same here man. I got 4 healthy female plants between 5-6" high. I'm paranoid too something is going to go wrong, especially with my luck.

That would be awesome if you could take the ladder out. I can't believe your wife doesn't even know about your grow! Now THAT is keeping a secret. Well done.
Perhaps the heat does affect the smell. I admit mine are certainly smaller and probably not as far along, but I have close to no smell. We had highs today of around 103F and when I am in my garden in the day I can't smell a thing. In the evening when it is only 90F I can usually get a little hint of something in the air.

About heat affecting the buds and THC, I've heard heat can actually be beneficial for THC production; assuming high heat usually means high UV-B rays. This is from Wikipedia:

THC also possesses high UV-B (280-315 nm) absorption properties, which, it has been speculated, could protect the plant from harmful UV radiation exposure. It could just be forum myth, but supposedly buds will produce more THC to absorb the UV-B rays.

I was pretty paranoid about a month ago too. Although I have a slightly more controlled environment than you, someone wrote that I just have to keep the plants growing. Keep the foliage happy and they will hopefully outgrow any problems. I guess if there are some crazy bugs or something you could be in trouble, but just try to keep the plants growing and hope for the best. It is also probably way more humid where you are, so mold could be a problem come harvest. I am at less than 20% humidity and it almost never rains so I'm not concerned about it myself. I'm sure there is info out there on how to avoid bud mold.

Honestly, your plants are quite big. I'd think it would take something awfully crazy to wipe those babies out.

OK, I finally got my wifes camera, so I can finally post some bud shots.

These are pretty good, but I know I can get some better ones, I took some yesterday. But, somehow I screwed up and deleted them all but one. I took some more today, but they aren't quite as good. Spent so much time screwing with the camera I didn't get a chance to take the ladder out there to get the "scale" shot. I'll have to take it out there though, because I need to tie a couple of the tallest ones higher up, and I cant reach them without the ladder

Looks awesome. I'd say you will have quite the harvest, especially considering you need a ladder to reach the tallest ones and they still have a ways to go. Bet you are stoked. Your plants sure are a lot further along than mine.

The first 3 I think are from the one that started in June, the rest are from the others. The 5th pic is from the plant that looks different, even the buds look different.

I'll tell you one thing, I've decided to go and invest in a better camera than the one I have. I had a hard time, downloading the pics from my wife's camera. She has some kind of software on the computer, I'm not going to bore you with the details, but I actually got some better pics on Sat, but lost most of them somehow.

If I have a better camera, I can experiment with the distance from the plant and the zoom, and get some good shots.

There's no smell in the general vicinity, but if you stick your nose in close they smell good.
I rubbed one of the small bud leaves between my fingers, and it was really sticky, and smelled strong.
I'm stoked!!!

You know there may be something to that. I have a killer vegetable garden every year. My friends can't get anything to grow, but mine is always good. We grow corn, green beans, squash, collards, cabbage, egg plant okra, butter beans, cucumbers, tomatoes, and all kinds of peppers. I should have posted some pics of that.

Previous experience growing anything definitely is a plus. I'm Italian so growing up mom always had to grow her tomato, basil, onions, and bell peppers and I always liked helping her out. God forbid we ate store bought spaghetti sauce! haha. She is pretty old school. Your stereotypical Italian woman. Honest to god, I don't think I ate jarred sauce until I was like 10 or 11 years old at a friend's house, lol.
