Sorry it took me so long to get back. Well the one I think may go hermie hasn't showed any signs yet. The plant has just looked different the whole time. It grew faster than the others. I don't know just a hunch.

Man, it has turned hot as hell. Been in the mid 90's for a week, and that's the forcast for the next week. I'm hauling a lot of water.

One of my plants has started flowering early, so I gave it some blooming nutes today. I don't know what the deal is, it is shorter than the others by two feet, but it is in full bloom. Oh well, I guess I'll have some bud early. Every thing else is cool. I'll post some pics later this week.

Be careful what you wish for. We had 20 spring days that reached 90 degrees.
The first week of summer was brutal, 95,96,97 degrees. And on top of that, I had to go out of town for a week. When it is that hot, they need water every day in 5 gallon containers. I had a friend water them once for me. I watered good on Tues, he watered Fri, and I got back Sunday. They almost fried.

I've lost a lot of the large fan leaves on the main stalk. I think the heat, and that week they were under watered had a lot to do with it.

But, I'm also worried that I'm not feeding properly. I had some yellowing, so I increased the schedule to every 3 days or so, but I'm not sure. Some look great, some are showing signs of nute burn. I'm confused.

Overall, they look good. The short plant that hasn't got as muc sun is flowering like crazy.

That sucks bro. I had some watering issues with mine too. It's been a royal pain in the ass having to hike out there with water 2-3 times a week, and that's just to keep them alive. I think the entire month of June in rained only like 3 times, with only 1 time being a good soak. Temps weren't too bad, except this past week and this weekend it's been in the 90's.

They're still looking pretty awesome to me man. They are certainly monsters! That's the downside to growing in 5 gallon buckets with plants that big, they need watered a lot. Mine are probably about 5' and not near as full as yours and I've been giving them about 2 gallons each 2-3 times a week. They are nute hogs too. Been feeding them Botanicare Pure Blend Pro Grow once a week at full strength and they still want more. I have some Schultz 10-15-10 plant food I've actually been mixing in with it too. On top of that, I mixed a little Miracle Gro time released into the top layer of the soil. Just need some rain already! What kind of nutes have you been using?

If you think they are getting root bound, I've heard of guys cutting out the bottom of 5 gallon buckets and turning over the soil underneath the buckets. Or even cutting out the bottom of the bucket and putting that into another bucket full of soil. Although with the first option you wouldn't be able to move them around anymore once the roots start moving into the ground.

Keep us posted man, I'm eager to see how they turn out for ya.

I was just using Miracle grow multi-purpose, but when the short one started flowering, I said what the hell and started it on Super Bloom. At that point I was hauling two buckets with food mix. Then, a second one started flowering so I said they were all going to get switched to the blooming nutes. It's 12% nitrogen, and 55% potassium. I gave them a good full strength feeding of that on the day that I left, and I wondered if perhaps when they didn't get watered for a couple of days that started it. Funny thing is that only one of the plants looks like it is nute burn. Hell I don't know, it's mostly the large leaves on the main stalk. Is the 55% potassium too hot?

The shortest plant is only about 4ft, but it looks like it would have a couple oz's if it was finished now, and it's got a ways to go.

The tallest plant is over 8', and the other 3 are 6.5-7ft. They are defintely large. They've sure come a long way from the first pic I posted here.

I'm gonna check out your grow journal now.

Those things are incredible. I started growing feminized Jock Horror seeds from Nirvana around the same date you started. Mine are only 3 feet tall! Ha. Your trees have really filled out nicely. I'm hoping to get to about 6-7ft by the time I harvest. I would be plenty happy with that for a first grow.

I considered Kaya Gold as I remember reading it was hearty and did well in hot weather. It sure looks hearty alright! Mine only get about 6 hours of sun per day as they would cook in our 110+ F weather. My plants' nodes are extremely close oddly enough, but they sure aren't growing like yours.

Ha, I just took a look at my most recent pic and it almost made me laugh how much smaller they are. Oh well, when I rub the stem the smell is INCREDIBLE. Can't wait to smell/taste the buds. How much longer do you have till harvest? I'm looking at another 3-4 months.

I honestly don't know, they're acting kind of crazy. One is only about 4ft tall, and it started flowering in June, and another has started flowering too. The other 3 just normal pre-flowers. One of the plants I honestly don't believe is the same strain, it's bushier more like an indica than sativa. I think these are supposed to flower in 60 days, but I'll need to go back to Nirvana's site to see. Mine are only getting about 6 hours of light too. are the Jack Horrors indica or sativa?

I'm stumped man. They obviously aren't autos, but the days are still pretty long so that's crazy they are flowering, especially the first one that started in june. I guess that's not a bad thing, is it? I would have loved if one of mine started flowering in june and now one in early july, haha. Just a guess, but maybe the bushy indica one can be a different pheno??? Can you throw up some pics of the ones that are flowering when you get a chance? I'd really like to see this.

I think Jock Horror is a hybrid (NL x Skunk x Haze)

Sonar has it right, Jock Horror = NL x Skunk x Haze. It is supposed to be a sativa dominant hybrid. The leaves certainly look sativa but I thought they would have grown taller and slimmer. Some are just starting to grow into each other which could be a problem since I think they should still have 3-4 months to go.

Does that bushier one of yours have the same looking leaves as the others? Does it smell the same? I don't know much about genetics, but Sonar could be right about it being a different pheno. I would love to see some more pics.

This may be a silly question, but how do you know when your plants are in the flowering stage? Are they in flowering as soon as you can see the sex traits?
I took this pic a week ago and there are clearly pistils. Flowering?

Those are just normal pre-flowers.
My plant that's flowering has buds that are 2" long already. I'll try to get some good pictures, but I've had a hard time to this point getting it focused without being blurry. But, I think I may have figured out that photo editing program from Microsoft.

On another subject, this plant has developed a problem. It looks fine, but it has a soft spot at the base of the stalk, right were it goes into the dirt.

Sonar, I'm going to check your grow journal out again, but didn't you lose a plant to some kind of boring insect? Did it go in at the base. I'm really worried about this plant. It's the one that is flowering already. I can literally take my thumb and push it into the stalk. I'm afraid it's either that, or maybe I watered it too much and it's developing some rot. Because it didn't get as much sun, it didn't dry out as fast as the others, and every time I hauled water out there, I gave it some too.

On another note, sorry I haven't been as responsive on my thread, but I just started a new job. I was out of work for almost 8 months. Part of the reason I decided to try and grow some weed. I was bored.

Cool. Pre-flowers, eh? Can't wait to start seeing some real flowers.

You need to get that camera going! Is it a regular point and shoot? They all pretty much have a macro mode. Just get as close as you can where it will still focus and enlarge it on the computer when you get home.

That sucks about the soft spot in the stock. Those borer beetles (or whatever they were) sure were nasty little fuckers. Hope that isn't what you've got.

Congrats on the new job.

Appreciate the congrats on the job. I needed it, I have a family.

The camera I'm using is a combo, video recorder thing. It was cheap. I don't know if you noticed on some of my pictures, but they got clearer when I used photo editor.

I'll try to get some good shots of the buds.

I've got some pics on the camera that I took last weekend, but since then I've had to do some staking and tying. I also had to bury the buckets part of the way with the staking. They were getting top heavy and falling over in the breeze.

I'm not sure if it's a borer or not. The plant still looks good. I think if it can live at least another month, I'll get some decent buds off of it. Maybe not completely finished, but something.

The other 4 look great.

Oh, and the plant that looks different, yeah the leaves are different. I don't know what happened with it. I'm not sure if the hybrid is stable, or the breeder was sloppy or what.

Hey man just saw your post I just got back from the beach. Check the stalk if it is swollen anywhere. I think that is usually where they are hiding. Sometimes you can carefully open it up and pull the grub out.

OK I just read through the last couple posts. Sorry I was pretty tired last night I just got done driving 6 hours from the beach. If it's the borer beetles you'll see like brown saw dust looking stuff at the area in question and it gets all swollen up sometimes. I wasn't 100% sure, but I think mine came in the bottom of the stalk, worked its way up the entire plant, and once it started narrowing towards the top it busted through. Plant went from looking fine to dead within 3 days, although who knows how long it was digging through. It could just be rot too, it's hard to say without a pic. Is it just soft or is there any kind of discoloration going on?

Oh BTW good luck with the new job man! Haha, that's part of the reason I tried growing too.
