150 to a 250 is actually bigger leap than you would think. I think the 250 is a better choice over the 150. Alot bigger selection of bulbs, they are just more 'mainstream' than the 150. As far as growing goes that is. And your very welcome. Its threads like these that make you appreciate this site. Everyone working together for a common good. Hey Riddle, your not a communist are you? LOL

Yeah, but having already purchased a 150w setup do you think I should splurge on the 250 now? or wait a little while until I can dial in temps and go for the 400? I mean my space isn't that big so 400w maybe going a little overboard. 2ft wide 2ft long 6ft high. Also if the 250 does give a significant boost of temps it could be used only during fall/winter as here it is usually fairly cold. Easier to raise temps then lower them if need be :D

If your not going to grow 4 foot plants. Then the 250 would rock a 2x2 space. And I bet you would be surprised at how little heat difference there is between a 150 and 400. The big thing with 150 and 250 watt lights is many have the ballast built into the hood. I recommend always getting a remote ballast setup.

Well. I sure feel like an ass.:wall::twisted: I went to see the Ansi of my 400W Ballast to check what it would take to change it. It had a MH Bulb when I "freed" it from storage a decade ago. It was a S51 and looking it up it is a HPS, and I can order the bulb from http://www.lightingsupply.com/CDM400S51-HOR-4K-ALTO.aspx
Who I have had great relations with and FULLY recommend them. It's my veg. table, so now we'll see how one does there. It's my B-day on the 15th, So Fuck it, for my first B-day with M.S. I'll buy myself the bulb and 150W Pulse Start Ballast Kit.

See above:eyesmoke:
and I can't wait to see it.:eyesmoke:

As you can see from my A Medicinal Refridgerator I had a Loop really fuck me up. I hope you can get your hands on one too.:blsmoke:Thanks for bringing it up, so I thought " Hey, can mine be converted?"
Daniels:twisted:
Still can't believe I never even checked that "MH" Ballast:wall::wall::wall::weed:
I got mine today, YEA!! The 100 watt bulb is so teeny-tiny!! Is your 150watt bulb small too? That's cool cause I made my cooltube from a lantern globe, it will fit perfect!

The 150watt ballast is only like $45.00 dollars at 1000bulbs.com. If you sign up for their coupons you will get an email for 10% off, I did at least. The coupon link is on the main page somewhere. Don't forget to get the right ansi number!! I will help if u need, but I think I posted it in 1 of your threads here @ riu.

Yeah well I got a 150w from htg supply with the grounded magnetic ballast (the one that sits outside the grow room, at least outside mine) so really you don't think there would be too much difference for the 150 and 400? Or is that just overkill for that space?

A 400 in a 2x2 space would not be overkill. It would be a grow monster. At least some really tight fat buds. And I bet you would be surprised at the heat difference from a 150 bulb vs a 400. A little 130cfm dayton blower, can be found for under 40 bucks if you shop around, would be more than ample to move the air needed to keep that space cool. I am assuming the ambient temperature of the room your closets in can be kept under 80. Or your 'lung room' if you will.

I think your gonna like it......... And cant forget about silicas when using the CMH. They have always been a big part of my medium mix. So I cannot say first hand about the benefits of using them along with a CMH. But everything I have read points in that direction. Coincidence that silica aides when using a CMH or just the fact that it helps grow a stronger more resistant plant and more folks are finding this out and just helps it get frontpage. With threads like this one day we may have an answer. One day, maybe...........

Yeah well one of the reasons temp is an issue is because I don't have proper ventilation. It is a closet with no door on it and an oscilating fan inside for circulation. I wouldn't have prefered to do it this way but it was my first grow so live and learn. I can put the door back on (which I plan to do) and cut a hole, insert fan, etc. but I just don't want ducting going all throughout my surrounding room.

also got a sample of purple dragon (different friend) was not impressed, looked great but the high was not all that

and yet another sample of G-13 which was ok, great look, kinda upper midshelf high

NL #5 is an actual strain, tilda was a NL Special and my next grow will be the strain that kicked this shit off many moons ago NL #1, and after that gonna cross NL #1 to NL special

maybe just bad generations? werent up to the breeders expectations or something...
i honestly have wondered the same for a long time, because iv heard of #1, and #9... kinda why i asked about the #5 lol

yeah I have seen NL#1,,,#5,,#9,,and #12

don't know what is up with the inbetweeners???
I think the NL#'s were different pheno's he had. Kinda like if you put in 15 beans and labeled them NL1, NL2 and so on. I remember his favorite was #5, but the missing, could have been males??? didn't make it or he didn't like them?? I read that story somewhere, maybe one of the bud books or cannabibles or hundreds of magazines I have in a drawer.

Side note a breeding partner has 2 males for me. A white widow, I used last year for the Purple Rain and Isis crosses and an Ice from Nirvana. Def using the WW, not sure on the Ice.

If anyone is interested in the beans I mentioned in the post before, send me a PM and I will get them to you.

Ohhh, and am I lost here??? I thought that the CMH bulbs ran with a metal halide magnetic ballast??? I saw some posts about it being HPS only?? Help me out guys, can I stick the Phillips 400w in my 400 W Metal Halide ballast, or makey go sparky?

Very cool to meet Riddleme today, thanks for the invite brother. We will be back for sure, love to talk shop ! I can tell you folks now, he's down to earth good people, period.

Got me some jacks today, just the 20-20-20 for veg and fed it when I got home, they got rain on weds and a burst, I'm looking for another one.
