hahah im no longer under fluros mate :P JUST bought a 600w HPS today :D

I was always under just 4-6x (varied it a lil) 36w tubes (so ~145watt) but they were proper grow tubes not just the normal lights you get from say bunnings. They produce a little bit more blue and red rather than just plain white. Now however i got a great big dirty 600w HPS :P

If i continue on with growing more strains later or get into the notion of growing more ill invest in a MH 600W and actually setup two rooms like you should. For now my HPS will have to do both Veg and Flower.

26th June 2010

Got my HPS last night. 600w at 500mm from canopy. Will drop it to 400mm tonight at lights out. Things need to get used to an extra 500w of light now :P

Also any ideas of where to top these? I posted pics of each individual plant to assist in node length.

I cant believe you have turned your back on flueros. Your 600w should get you some thumper buds. How are you venting it?

hahah it was bound to happen mate :P

But now im shit scared of coppers seeing the bright red light :(

Well its a big enough room so it kinda just vents itself. But i got that little fan in there to blow away the hot air.

ALSO how tall do i get them before i flower?

They are in about week 7 of veg and roughly a foot or two high (its slow under fluro and from seed).

Im starting to get very paranoid with getting caught now that i have this dirty big light so kinda just wanna finish them off but want some substantial bud from them aswell so its a while before i need to grow again :D

Sorry dude, im typing this from my phone so cant edit and draw a circle for you, but if it were me, id top this plant above the 3rd Node, then i'd trim off the bottom Node. This is ur closer internodal spacing, and thats what i always aim for when i top. Plus ur Shoots there are kinda developed, so the recovery wont take as long.

Thanks Ninja. SO just to confirm red is where i should cut? Do i then bury it upto this point or just let it be? I then assume i do this for the rest of the plants ie. cut between the shortest nodes?

ALSO how long till i flower? (in hieght)

EDIT: Sorry the colours dont come out very clear once pic has been scaled down. But it should be faint enough to still see.

Dude, that looks to me like u have put two red lines up the side then put a red line across the top of the 4th Node.. Do it again, but this time do it thicker so i can see exactly what ur circling.. Dont make a stoned person squint :eyesmoke:

hahah my bad. Yes i had the lines up the side to indicate i should chop the leaves off too?...but after reading UB's tut i see why thats a no no :P

He says to cut after the second node though?

So i guess the question is cut at 1 (red line) or 2 (blue line). O and if you can't see those lines now you are REALLY REALLY baked :P

Cut at Line 2 _ Blue Line, Definately. Then trim off the shitter lower node, then you shold be left with 4 nice strong branches.

I want to see it Alex. It would be a shame if mine were bigger under cfls. That is my aim.
here it is at 7 weeks old from seed.

first two weeks was 175 mh
then placed under 600 watt hps
it was veg. another 2 weeks then flowered.
veg. total 4 weeks
flowering 3 weeks now.
the photo was taken at 7 weeks old.
no fim
no lst
no topping
its extremely bushy as heck.

Nice and bushy alex. I think yours has more sativa in it than mine.
Based on how skinny his leaves are compared to yours yer i would think soo too. Odd then thats its soo busy?....i thought typically sativa was a straight and slow grower?

Anyway, had to raise the light back upto 500mm today as i checked on them and some have yellowing tops suggesting light burn?

Skiz very good observation young man. I didnt even think of the bushiness. I think that may well be a trait of the rhino as mine were so bushy it was slightly silly but once they started to flower they started to lose all their leaves in quick succession.
