hi

i have set up my xl homebox grow tent with 600w hps light. im after big yields and have 16 pots in there. i was thinking of using the 600w for veg and maybe adding another 600w or 400w for flowering? is this a stupid idea?

i dunno if im gonna struggle with temps, but want to achieve maximum yields out of my 16 pots?

any ideas?

You're gonna need a bigger boat.... How big is the tent? You plan on using the one tent for all 16 plants from seed to bud?

Well more light is always better I guess if you can control the heat. If your tent is 4x4 and you put in 2x600w lights that is 75w a square foot. That’s pretty good. I would personally go with 2x600w lights just for uniformity sake and maybe have one MH and one HPS and rotate the plants in-between both spectrums every day. So no its not a bad idea. Good luck.

the tent is 2mx1.2mx1.2 and i am purchasing seeds, propagating them and then putting them into the tent and under the 600w when ready.

buyt for flowering im hoping to use another 600w in there.

im gonna buy big bud seeds and super lemon haze.

If I were growing either of those strains in that tent I would grow six plants and definitely wouldn't go beyond eight. Unless you're going for a sog type grow 16 is way too many in my opinion.

you will definitly need another 600w for that room. i have a 4'x8' tent and i have twelve plants just on one side and they are growing into eachother at the moment. once i cull a few males out i should be down to 6-8 females and that will be enough to fill one half of the tent to the max

if i may suggest, you will get the same amount of lumens from 1 1000w hps as you will from 2 600s one 600w sunmaster hps will put out roughly 75k lumens and i believe a sunmaster 1000w hps puts out 145,000 or 150,000 lumens would make it easier to keep temps down only venting one hood and my buddy has a 4x4 grow tent theres no way he could fit a second hood in there. definately go with a digi ballast tho not a remote ballast. if you really want to go for two spectrums like whodatnation suggested gew a growzilla hood holds 2 bulbs up to 2000w total

a light mover for a tent smaller then 4x4? im having trouble understanding this please do explain. i could see if he was using the 4x8 tent you have but a halfway decent hood can cast over a 4x4 tent. i aint talkin shit im curious about this

i'm assuming he messed up with the height but last i checked "m" stands for meter

his dimensions are 6.5' x 3.9' that should be big enough for 2 lights ore one big one on a small light mover

to bad the size of the cola doesn't matter. its the weight of the over all yield and 2 x 600w will win every time against a stationary 1000w, that's just a fact. the colas may not be as big but the light footprint is larger and more efficient allowing for more plants and a greater over all harvest. everyone knows a larger amount of small plants yields greater than a few big ones. its the entire principle behind SOG

just explain why he needs a light mover for a 4x4 tent? if he gets a 1/2 decent hood and a diffuser for his bulb explain how 2 600w's would be more efficient then 1 1000w lets compare please

1200w of power for 150k lumens
1000w of power for 150k lumens

double your overhead costs on ballasts bulbs and hoods so lets say he is payin 300 a piece for a 600w ballast then another 150-200 a piece for the hoods 100 a bulb takes 200 watts more power for same lumen output lookin at what like 1200-1300 bucks startup before a plant even grows a 1000w setup can be 700 out the door

so again ill ask you to explain how 2 600w's is more efficient than 1 1000w seein as to how you explained nothing but the size of his tent which i already knew

your a dumbass, ever heard of Scrog people gettin mass amounts of weight off lowest number of plants and your working with a 4ftx4ft tent not an entire room

theres plenty of room to add another 600 in they are ready to flower. Its all new equipment so it would be shame to not even use it. I do not smoke myself and im doing this purely for the weight. My aim is for aroound 25oz if possible. Im going to be growing big bud and northern lights or super lemon haze. I would appreciate any input on seeds that bring good weight. I, like most people want to keep it cheap as possible as i have spent a lot of money already on the equipment so maybe the 600 would be better?

its all your personal preferance i guess, i know a guy who grows 60 plants under 3 600w's and he pulls 2lbs off 20 plants if your trying to grow commercially you want to take 2 factors into account, yield and flower period cuz a plant that yields alot but takes 12+ weeks to flower to full maturity aint gonna do much for you commercially. what kind of hood are you rockin? a 1000w setup costs like 140 bucks more then a 600w i think the energy savings would pay for that in a couple crops, could always run a 1000w next to a 600w

But they spend much more time vegging their plants.................. Edit 2mx1.2m= aprox 6ftx4ft. Now who is the dumbass?
