I am starting a 15 plant grow in a 5 x 5 space i got a 600w hps for flowering but for veg i'm not sure should i just use the 600w hps? our would it be cheaper to use cfl's? i have two 300w cfl's so if you pro's could let me know what you think that would be great lol

I vegg all my plants with Floros! Dont waste the money. Use CFL's or go find shop light with T-8 or T-5 in them. I got mine for fourty bucks at a local hardware store.

1 oz a plant ... that isnt even worth your time. you could flower 3 plants under a 600 and yield a lb so why try and do 15? your going way overkill with the plant number.

For one ounce per plant you shouldnt have to vegg very long. Let them get to about 16" and flip to 12/12. I love my 600w I think its better than my 1000w in some ways. The 600w will give you nice dense nuggs if you do everything right.

Your CFLs will work for a couple of weeks. Your 600W HPS light is good for flowering, but i would use a 600W Metal Halide for the rest of the veg stage. They make conversion bulbs now that will work with either an HPS or Metal Halide ballast. I have two 400W systems and switch bulbs all the time. If these are seedlings, keep the light at least 3-4 feet away from them.

Wesmokdro does have a point. I have found it to be easier to take great care of a couple big plants than to poorly maintain many plants. Not saying its not possable just easier for a new guy. But it is alos very hard to keep a mature plant healthy and happy. It also sucks to vegg for two months only to find out that that stain sucks ass and you waited all that time. For someone just starting out like yourself I say try to do 15 but relize you may only have 5 or 6 healthy ones when time to flower. Its all a learning curve my friend. You have to find out what works best for you. Good luck and happy growing!

A lot of these people posting on here have really good points. Dirt free made a really good point with mentioning that its your first go. The first time you start growing weed is like the first time you have sex ... you really have no idea what your doing , and you fuck up. okay , maybe that was a bad analogy. but you def make mistakes the first time around. it would be a real task to take care of that many plants your first time around , and if you fucked up with the feeding, they could all die : / . id say 5 would be good in your space , gives just over 5 square feet per plant and if you train a bit you can make it so your canopy is just boomin with buds. i am growing 3 plants under my 600 right now , week 4 and its already becoming difficult to keep the light trained on all of them. grow 3-5 and learn as much as you can. 3 weeks in you will + rep me for telling you to grow less. lol.

oh and are you growing from seed or clone?

yeah dude , trust me , your gonna have a great grow. 15 plants would have honestly possibly made growing a less enjoyable experience. 15 plants is hard work and probably racks up enough hours to be a part time job. start looking into different training methods. and start reading A LOT! good luck friend!
