quick tric tip, the amber trics you are seeing on the leaves aren't a good indication of bud ripeness
pretty much ignore leaf trics, they turn amber way more early than the bud

Thanks SICC. Yeaa they are starting to swell up now. can see hairs receding back into the buds too.. which is a good sign!
This plat grew extra quick the whole grow! At 3 weeks vegging.. it was huge! and then on the 5th day of 12-12.. it was already showing white hairs in a few its spots.. soo I had a feeling it would finish flowering a little sooner than I had thought too. =)

And I'm flowering with CFL's and 1 floro tube. its 310 watts of CFL's (mixed - some soft white and some Daylight) and a 20 watt floro tube. =)

Not bad for just CFL's huh? lol

Hmmm. yeaa i was wondering that. Thanks. yea the leaves i checked were the lil small ones just just barely show out of the bud. I figured those would be as close as I could get TO the bud.. without actually cutting off a bud. Thanks tho, i was actually gonna google that.. but u saved me that hassle.

Exactly! Its sad that theres people on this site too that will sit here and talk shit about CFL's and say they cant produce a nice plant..... hah! Mine may not be the best/biggest plant... but its DEFF not a bad plant.

as often happens, the criticisms come from non cfl growers
i got 35g of excellent dried bud off 1 plant from 78w of cfl's total
cfl's can do very good work, if you work them well, they have their own tricks

Agreed! Yea 35 grams is good! especially if it was excellent bud. and from only 78 watts! That awesome man. Well its good to know that i can grow a couple plants with all the CFL's im using on just this 1 plant.

I agree, CFL's can do very good. You just have to constantly move them around adn stuff... but you can get light to so much more of the plant than u can with an HPS. Cuz with an HPS... you cant get light UNDER the plant or directly on the sides.

I Love CFL's. =) Sooo to all you CFL haters!

lol. Thanks. This is only my 2nd grow.. well 2nd that is going to be completed.. My 3rd grow all together. Soo I am still learning.. and making mistakes as well. lol.

Cant wait to grow some of that "Double Berry". =) I have another White Widow plant about 2-3 weeks into Veg. Gonna top her soon.. maybe even today? and I have another Mystery Seed about a week old. Gonna flower those after I harvest Mary Jane.. adn then my next grow will be those Double Berry.. as long as everythign works out. =)

Lmao. Ive been wanting to use the "Kiss Ass" smiley for the longest time.. but never had a good enough reason to use it. lol. glad to see it used to well. =)

Ok.. dont wanna scare anybody.. its not too too bad... But...There are a bunch of the smaller buds.. the lil ones on the lower branches.. adn they look VERY done! like.. to the point where the really dark red hairs look almost.. nasty..? and some will fall off if I touch the bud.. even very gently... what should I do??

Should I cut these off now?? I dont wanna let them "over ripen". They look pretty done to me.. like well-done. lol. Just wanted to ask b4 I did it.. but I'm pretty sure it is a good idea to do it.. they deff look ready to go.....

I just noticed that you cut off all the larger fan leaves. When did you do that? I have often thought about doing it but I figured it was a bad idea but with my CH the leaves are so fat and big there is practically no light other than the very top and the lower branches keep trying to grow straight up instead of horizontally and than up where they could get light. I really wish I had better light penetration and side lighting like you it's amazing how fat yours is. Anyways good job!

Just an FYI since I just read this in the Grow Bible the other day- the book says not to cut the big fan leaves because it fucks with the hormones- it seems like a logical idea but the book suggested not to. It said if you need to light the lower buds to get supplemental lighting instead.

Yeah I've always heard that it's not wise that's why I don't do it but I notice some people doing it with good results. Yeah I wish that I had better side lighting but my CHs didn't really take the shape i expected. I think that they would do better without topping i gotta momma of it now though so it's all good.

Anyways CHB check your trichs and just make sure you don't let em go too long. Give em as much time as you possibly can but anything over 75% amber trichs is gonna be losing potency.

Yeaaa... I looked this argument up alot.. adn idk.. I cant seem to find a right answer. =/ Some say cut the leaves.. toers say DONT cut the leaves.. idk. I feel like its more of a preference.. I just figure.. wtf.. Im about 2 weeks away.. Ill cut them off adn give the buds more light.. and worse come to worse.. the plant gets madd at me for cutting off some of her leaves.. man is she gonna be pissed when I completely cutt her down.. adn cut ALL her leaves off and light her on fire and smoke her! hahahaha

Idk.. i feel like its a preference.. theres some good adn some bad with it.. But soo far.. I'm happy with my choice to cut the bigger leaves off.. no ill effects that I've seen.. adn the buds seem to like it. =)

Yeaa I did cut them on tuesday. Pipe Dream was asking me when I did it and asking if he should. I told him he should wait until 2 weeks before he's gonna harvest. That's what I did. And I'm happy with my decision.

alll right guys. just a quick update.. bout to do my 2nd flush adn 2nd watering with Molasses. =)

The buds are looking REALLY good now. =) I may have to cute a few buds down soon tho.... =// I'll check'em on Tuesday.. but there's quite a few branches where the hairs are almost ALL red.. adn teh hairs have receded back into the bud already.. adn idk.. just by looking at them.. they look "done". Ya know what I mean..?

The buds dont really light as as much as they did before.. and I think that is due to the crystals turning amber.. like i said.. its hard to check with the scope I got from radioshack.. cuz I cant keep it steady enough.. adn the focus on it sucks!! lol. but I have cut a few leaves off.. those very small ones that just barely show on the bud.. and they are coveres with amber trichs... Like I will see about 10 trichs... adn I'd say 7 of them are amber...

I know everyone keeps sayin that White Widow should take 9-11 weeks... but idk about this one... You guys remember how fast she grew?? She was like... on speed/steroids throughout the whole grow.. I vegged 3 weeks (from the day i planted her) and she was huge! and on her 5th day of 12-12.. she had pistils in a few different spots.. which is pretty fast for a plant thats only been vegged for 3 weeks... Soooo basically.. what I'm thinking is that she matured sooo quickly.. adn grew so fast.. that maybe she will be ready a lot sooner than a "regular" plant would...?

That is just my opinion tho... maybe I will try to take some pics.. soo you guys can judge for urself... I just dont want to le ther go too long.. cuz I dont want a powerful Couchlock high.. I am thinking of maybe (on Tuesday) cutting a few branches off... any that look "ready" adn have that 'done" look..

The main cola still has a lil bit to go.. there are still some white hairs on it.. the top of it is mostly red hairs.. but theres a few spots that still have white hairs.. adn the Poly-Ploid bud looks pretty done too...

As I said before too.. some of the smaller buds on the lower parts of the branches look VERY done.. like the bud looks dark... and some of the red hairs are falling off....? =/ I think thats a sign that they're ready.. lol. almost "too ready".. or as I like to say.... "Well Done"... lol. =)

Well.. jsut thought I'd let you guys know.. I might take her out adn examine her closely in a little bit... and try to make a good decision...

I just dont want to cut her is she's not fully ready... I am impatient.. But I am willing to wait.. adn I'm not saying all this because I want to harvest her right now... I would rather wait.. adn let her fatten up some more.. but it's hard to tell if shes gonna fatten up anymore.. or if shes just about done.

I dont wanna cut her down too early... adn lose alot of weight.. and not have the buds get as fat as they COULD be..... =/

well, i like the detailed info, that's how i've been with my small grows
you could cut one of the small buds, then put on a table and scope it out
it much easier to focus on the trics when everything is stable
if you could get a trich picture, it would be fantastic
trich pictures are a pain to get, i have to grit my teeth to get a good one out of 10 pics
but they're a huge help in gauging your harvest

ok guys.. heres a couple trich pics.. they are very hard to get.. lol. i clipped off a very small bud.. and thats what these pics are from.. like i said.. a pretty goo amount of amber trichomes... im gettin nervous.. =/ I dont want them to be too ripe.. i wanted to harvest around 30% amber trichs... Im gonna see how things look on Tuesday.... Cuz i might end up harvesting then.. depending on how they look.

** Also.. I was reading articles on White Widow.. and when to harvest and saw this small paragraph talking about the "Ionizer"... which is what I have in my closet... I thought it was interesting...

ODORS AND NEGATIVE IONS
Negative ion generators have been used for years now to cut down on odors in a grow room, but reports are coming in that a negative ion generator will increase growth speed and yield. No true evidence to support this, however it does make sense, due to the fact that people and animals seem to be altered in a positive way by negative ions in the air, so weed plants may “feel” better too. Try putting one in the grow room. You may notice the buds don’t have as much scent when picked, but that may be desirable in some cases.
A negative ion generator can be purchased for $15 to $100 depending on the type and power involved. Some have reversed cycles that collect the dust to a charged plate. It is also possible to use grounded aluminum foil on the wall and shelf where the ionizer sits, to collect these particles. Just wipe the foil clean once a month. It should be grounded to an electrical outlets ground wire. If you don’t cover the wall and shelf with paper or foil, the wall will turn dark with dust taken from the air, and you will have to repaint that wall later.
