Hey man how is the grow going! I see you scraped the original ghetto cab.

Can't wait to see your next set of photos. Going to kick back and smoke a big bongsmilie
hit when I do.

Ha, we will too... Right fucking now. bongsmilie

Here we go... We were going to scrap the old ghetto cab, but figured it'll do us well for seedlings or vegging a mother. There's actually adequate FL lighting in there. So much so that we've seen some entire grows use less. They got shit yields, but that's why we got those HPS lights :D

So we set the seedling/clone cab (Henceforth the Ghetto-cab, or G-cab for short) up, and we've planted a single seed to see how it goes. We've put the tower of lights up against the back of the G-cab for some added warmth, as our basement is cold.

That last set of pics was another makeshift setup where we were using rubber cloth as a substrate/lid. It was dumb. While fixing that f'up, we completely submerged little Shakira in Nutrient water, and it looked like she was gonna die for a minute.

It sounds silly, but to fix her, we added some oxi-clean to the nutrient res. Not only does it disrupt the surface tension of the water on a molecular level, but it gets rid of any algae problems that may have developed. On top of that, it makes Nute suds that completely saturate the root sustem with the perfect mix of water/air. So far so good. These pics are a day after we added the oxi-clean. If you have any questions, look up grey water irrigation on google.

All in all, we've got explosive root growth, and a shit tonne of new nodes coming in. The leaves look like a kaleidoscope.

Thanks for watching our first grow, and smoke plenty... It'll make these ridiculous things we've been doing seem smarter, or at the very least more entertaining.

Also, we just made a pacman sponge instead of a netpot, and that'll work until she gets quite a bit bigger, but by then we'll have to switch the tote to something larger anyhow.

For some reason I didn't get any root pics, or closeups of the new foliage, but they'll be there before the nights over.

TLDR; We stunted our plant growth and fixed it with laundry detergent. Also, pacman.

Be sure to keep the roots out of the light.. This could stunt the growth or even kill the plant. Oh, most important. Be safe, have fun!!!! One day you wont have to hide your wears in the basement.

Abso-fuckin' lutely. This world is a changin'. Political Upset, Public Protest, and Productive Garders are pavin' the way for a greener future...

Oh! and little Shakira... We're contemplating changing her name to Lady Gaga, 'cuz we really don't know if she's a girl yet.

What would you guys think of shielding roots from light with organic Food coloring? Just a really dark purple or something, and if the plant picks up the color it'll just add to the gimmick a little. We don't think this could hurt it, and we could even start flushing it a couple weeks pefore harvest if taste was a concern... we're not planning on revegging at this point, so Why would we care what happens to the roots after harvest?

Here are some more pics. With the roots, anything that doesn't have peat clinging to it is basically completely new growth. The greenery is branching a lot, too. The stem is like a little trunk... We took a vid of us just holding her by the sponge, and bending her 90*... Every time she'd just pop straight back to 90 like a piece of spring steel. It was kinda long, though... so we scooched the sponge up the stem about 1/2-3/4" The stem just developed roots in a matter of hours, This plant growth stuff is pretty sweet

Sorry for the rambling, I'm feeling pretty good about everything. Just need to stay vigalent and not try too much experimental stuff from here to harvest. We figure, get the basics with our first grow, and get fancy with our second.

***EDIT***
Because we're high, we actually uploaded the video: http://yfrog.us/6wcimg3790z

Hey waz up!! I didn't know you can have a plant in hand with the roots exposed like that and not shock the hell out of her not to mention death. Dude that is some trippey shit you got going food coloring, oxi clean, laundry detergent and stems going through sponges. :bigjoint:

I have a DIY hydro set up and I just used 2 inch foil tape to block the light from the root container and lid. Maybe you can call it mexi purple at harvest or something to that nature. I wonder if the plant would actually change colors. :?:

This has to be some sort of comical put on grow thread. Laundry detergent to fix stunted growth. ROFL. No pun intended bud but this is like the 3 stooges growing weed. You got to be pulling my leg.

Hope all goes well with the basement tour.
