250 watts hps questions

So my current set-up im kind of happy with its 200 watts, but im only really using it for one plant so it will work, however for my next grow im thinking i should be using my 250 watt hps for flowering. The only reason im not using it now is i live in an apartment so im a little paranoid that it will make my electric bill noticably much higher, however i realize now that im already using 200 watts plus another 100 watts for two lemon trees i have. So would the 250 watts hps raise my electricity bill a considerable amount more?

Depends where you live. You should try Southern California Edison on for size at 22 cents per KWH, and have it go up 10 cents per KWH as your move up the tiers. You can easily get to 42 cents per KWH here.

I live in Canada although that doesn't really help with the specifics, but only $8.25? thats amazing i hope its that cheap for me. I would only use it for flowering so hopefully it doesnt raise my bill. Iv decided ill wait to see what my electricity bill is like at the end of this month, cuz i realized im already using 350 watts already on various plant lighting in my apartment, So i wonder if the extra 250 watts would raise it to

oh really thats funny i live in ontario too, so you dont find it raises ur electricity bill too much? its not even the money im worried about its just like a $150 or something like that electricity bill is sort of noticable. lol im being a bit paranoid, i used to live in a house though so i had less worries.

Find out what the rates and hours are for on peak and off peak hours. They break this down right on the bill, at least where I live. Or you can call them and they will tell you. Try to run the lights at off peak hours. There are many electricity calculators out there specifically made for stoners like us. But I think you'll be just fine using a 250. They produce more lumens per watt than a cfl, so are overall more efficient. I've seen some great grows in these forums from folks using 150 watt HPS lights as well. Good luck!

If you haven't been living there for very long, call your electric company and see what the average bill was for the previous person that lived there. Of course the winter months are going to be more...but even if its $20 more a month the electric company or anyone else won't catch onto it or worry about it. It's when the electric bill is $100 more than the average that people become suspect about it.

im debating getting a 150 watt hps i found a place that has one for $80, its not that i think it will make my bill any cheaper than a 250 watt it because i dont have anywhere good to place it, but i have a closet that would be perfect for the 150 watt hps i only really need it to flower 2 - 3 plants. But i do already have a 250 watt hps and hps/mh conversion bulb so im not to sure where id put it

and your already growing legal plants? just set it up it isn't suspicious amount of electricity usage and you have a reason to be running grow lights if such a problem were to arise.
