can you grow a plant with 24 hour on until the flowering stage?

Ruderalis is used to growing in 24 hours of light. I do 18/6 to save electric but honestly 24/7 is giving an extra day every 4 days and the main point is just dont do 12/12 before the plant matures no matter how you get there. 24 gets you there faster
im not disagreeing with 24/7 just looking at the pros of 18/7. i use both methods depending on wether i can be arsed with setting up a timer and relay:eyesmoke:

No one has shown the proof that 18/6 is better than 24 but there is no disputing the fact that every 4 days gives another full 24 hours of light doing 24/7 since I know it is no worse doing 18 and saves electric I choose the 18 to save electric otherwise I would choose to get more done in shorter amount of time and 24 hours of light is simply more than 18 period so it happens to mature your plant faster.

this is not up to speculation its simple math

The thing is plants need a dark period to concentrate all its energy in the dark period to grow roots. the roots suck up nutes and shit. its gonna be a slightly better yield and a healthier plant. like someone said to me eairlier nature dosent provide perfect conditions. i say if you do the plant is gonna perform better.

.

The root system growth is best in the dark when the plant isn't devoting it's resources to photosynthesis. I like 18/6 to 20/4.

FINALLY!!!! Someone besides me.. for once.. understands how the plant actually works! Amazing.. I really thought that I was the only on around here that doesn't do 24hrs of light.. nor do I do 20/4 or anything else like that..

Just stick to the 18/6 for veg.. and as soon as you think your ladies are ready to flower.. THEN switch them over to 12/12.

Now! when it comes to my flowering cycles? I like to try and imitate nature as closely as possible. What I mean by that.. is like during the spring time.. we all advance our clocks forward an hour.. so therefore halfway through the flowering process (week #4 or #5) I'll give the plant an extra hour of sleep (darkness) and keep them under that schedule for a good solid 2 weeks.. then start coming back to the original 12/12.

Trust me.. it works. Why? Because your imitating nature like it should be imitated.

Which again.. is also another reason I don't use 24hrs of light during veg. When doing that.. your not supplying the plant hardly any dark periods. Which is vital for healthy and strong root structure development.

some people just don't get it.. and some never will. Your imitating nature.. your suppose to imitate the environment for the plant.. to make it think that it is outside growing in its natural environment!! This is NOT rocket science you guys.

24hrs of straight light? During the whole veg cycle?? That shits retarded.. unless your actually growing a strain that is indigenous to the artic.. where the sun never sits for 6 months out of the year. But other than that.. 24/0 IS NOT THE correct lighting regime for MJ. Your plant's root system CANNOT grow properly without some kind of dark period.
remember.. if you imitate nature correctly.. you'll get better plants and buds.

That's all I'm saying.

Peace.

ganjaluvr, thats a lot of info. But I have a couple dozens of plants under 24\0 for a month or so that will tell another story.
My plants are healthy and have healthy roots. under 24\0 since cloned.

I don't know where you live but I don't see 18\6 light regime outside no matter what season it is.

Technically you might be right. Phisicaly its open for debate as both ways tested and found working.

I do 24/0 for most of the veg but when its about 2 weeks before i want to flower i slowly switch to 18/6 and then whem im totally down to unleach the flow i slowly put it to 12/12 and ive had decent results.
