WW weeks 8-10 flowering, lights off??

Flying Dutchmen White Widow Feminized ( via attitude)
in week 9 12/12. Looking good no pics, but nice and plump and crusty.
Reread the suggestive info on site and, well here it is

It's suggested to flower (12 hour light) this marijuana variety for 8 weeks, but 10 weeks will really give her the crystals you are after. Try to turn the lights off altogether the final 2 weeks of the flowering cycle- or at least down to 8 hours. This keeps the flowers from re-growth and stresses the plant into giving up its last drop of goodness as crystal to protect the flower! The buds have so much THC on them that it is hard to see them at all.

I have no idea what to make of this.
rumor has it that this info is garbage and i would like to think otherwise, but hey..dunno.
So anybody leave the lights off like that?
Do you feed them/flush?
Temps?
Pretty much any thing you wanna add here?

light cycle 11/13 for the whole flowering period, last 3 days no light whatsoever.

i would suggest 8/16 for the last week, i couldnt do it this time... but its a very good idea.

ya i just started flushing tonight. lights went to 8/16 last nightgoing for the finish.
2.5 grms from 1 plant? That would be great. Whatever it is, it is. I got 2 plants in the grow , out of 5, that look like they will need extra time. 1 for sure cuzs its a freebee seed(powerkush) not sure how they will do in the dark when I want them to go longer. I'll have to do somthing, or nothing then somthing dunno.

Yea like Monkz said 3 days at the end with no light really does make a significant difference in crystal production. Ive even heard up to 5 days never tryed it tho.

and i do like the idea of 8/16 in the last week (week 10) as white widio is a very high resin plant i think that with 3-5 days dark and you wont call it green any more hahahahhaha.


Never heard of the 11/13 cycle, is there a certain reason you do that? Ive always wondered if you should lower the light steadly over time like out in the wild but i was worried it would effect yeild... Would love to hear some feed back on how it works for you...

12/12 isnt a must, its just one of many light cycles you can use.
for my past 2 grows i did 12/12 so i thought this time id try 11/13... hasnt seemed to affect yield much either positively or negatively...
but it does encourage faster flowering, which is why i tried it, my last 2 weeks i went to 10/14... nature decreases light as time goes on so theres no reason you shouldnt.

personally i would never deprive my plant of light for 3 days or anydays..in nature it dont do that..

i've always heard 2-3 days in the dark at the end significantly increases resin production on the buds, but no way would i go 2 weeks too much shit could go wrong in the growroom

why is a seed bank reccomending this to people who pay them very good money for seeds then? so that we experience problems in the growroom and want a shit outcome to 8 weeks of flowering and all that effort?

could somebody put 2 cents in that has exp or some actual knowledge?

odds are if the shop suggests this then they probably had some type of good exp with this system. also i've read in many places to cut the lights completely the last few days to put your plants into overdrive. constructive critisism is a must.

ya i am doing that now and i am mad scientesting a variation into that. i am using 150 watts of cfl in addition to a 430 hps. i am now in 8/16 but only 2-3 hours of all lights in combination. i unplug the 430 hps for 6 hrs of the 9............
we'll see........

I put a plant in the dark my last grow, just to to try it out. I left it for 3 days, which was long enough for the bud-rot to take off. Luckily I only lost part of the cola, but you may want to put a fan in your dark area if you have a dense plant. It didn't look much different as far as resin production, by the way.

good to know, thanks. ya i have2 fans in the room 1 blows vented outside air (from new england ).
so budrot huh, eee dont want none of that part of the expierience. i have 2 plants that kinda look like they may be 1-2 weeks behind you think i should consider abandoning the less light aproach and just grow till they say chop me?

This isn't expert knowledge, but most of the resin production happens at night and that's the theory with long periods of darkness. Because of the nature of nature, I imagine it would work for some strains well, a little bit for others, and may hurt some. And ya of course the area you leave it in the dark has to be well ventilated still duh

It's not a crime to cut early..different buzzes. But if they're dramatically behind it might be difficult to give a few darkness unless you have an extra room. You could just try it with the slow girls this time?

well, of the slow girls only 1 is widow so the points you made about this not being good for all strains is valid and may find a way to fuck me in the butt, but still got a few seconds on the play clock allowing for an audible.i may just go 9/15 8/16 with a dark day or 2when the slowpokes are finishing up. all kinda up in the air hence the thourough investigation lol.
