Are you sure they are seed pods? They could just be dense Calyxes?

Plus if they are pods with no seeds then you should be fine and it should still smoke great.

A little late with the 36 hours of darkness I know.... but from what I read... it's about the ammount of trichs. Apparently they have done studies that show the highest concentrations of THC in the plant are around midnight. So some people think that if you give them a hell of a night, then cut them... they will have a higher concentration of THC.

But in my head... if they have the highest at midnight...you should cut them 6 hours into darkness... not give them more?

Also some beleive various forms of shocking the plant at the end of it's life will make defense mech's kick in and the plant producing more trichomes.

I feel like I treat my girls hard enough... no stress' for me. I cut with lights on becuase it's easier and I always have more plants growing... I have never harvested everything at one time.

HOWEVER... I do give them 36 hours of dark between veg and flower. TLD is nice and likes to transition. I just send them a serious message... "Get ready for long nights"... no idea if it works but I figure it get's the lead out in the transition.

Is not watering them the last couple days a soil thing? I shouldn't be drying out my girls before the chop too should I?

sum of the stuff ive read regarding "good" stress during the last days of harvest can help with the thc level but i have no first hand experience with this. i do think i like the 36 hour dark period before flippin the switch.

-and bro sorry to hear if they did hermie but at least u were able to crop out successfully without total disaster of seed infestation. but like they said be proud of ur accomplishment and hard work and the bugs lookin fukn great to me!
any luck on ur harvest photoshoot? haha

I cant even tell what you are pointing at lol..you should be OK :)

Great job dude.

EDIT: Not watering before harvest can be used in any container medium. Starving the plant from water puts it into protection mode and forces out trichomes increasing THC contect. FACT.

Hey, got a question. What do you guys normaly do with the little buds under the canopy. I trimmed some, but they are not very dense and smell like hay. I have 4 paper grociery bags of fans and 2 of fine trimmings already. I wasn't planning on making any hash, just butter and oil with the fine trimmings. I need to get some hash bags. Is it worth it to trim all this little shit up? Does the green undergrowth bud smoke decent?

Here are the little green buds I am talking about.

Trimming sucks ass by the way. My neck and back is so jacked. This is the pile that took me all day to acumulate. The one on the end of table is my wife's. I don't think either of us could make a living trimming. :)

Jeez Raiderfan... give yourself some credit. That is way more than I would trim in a day. You could be employed by me to trim ANYDAY. Come on down. Doesn't trimming Fucking Suck Ass!!! It's like this sick joke that is played on you after this amazing grow you just did. I really hate it.

I'm sure most will disagree, but I trim every single little tiny bud and keep it to smoke. All the time when I am trimming the tiny tiny buds that are more stem than bud... I think "no one else in the world would trim this stuff". I think everyone just throws that stuff in with the trim.

I just know that when I running out of a strain I grew... I would kill for just a few more bowls.

Amazing job on the trimming. Looks really good (from what I can see).:weed:

Yeah all the work in the end seems to make the smoke taste better. Hey Raider you did a fantastic job. I am still not sure that what you showed us in the pic was a seed pod, it almost just looks like Calyxes. I would give anything to be at the trimming stage right now but i have a few months to go.

Trimming is kind of therapeutic to some. I am one. Find something on the TV, get my receptacle(seperate trim, fan leaves etc), load some bowls, get a floor map with some daylight cfls, and go to town. take breaks when neccesary, and things get going......

And that is pretty much exactly wha your looking for. Now lets get those Colas big en fat ;)
Thanks buddy, I can see now how I didn't prune enough of the lower shit off. I remember you saying a couple months ago to take all the little bud site off. I should have listened. There was a shitload of growth underneath. All that wasted energy that could have gone to the colas. You can see it in the last pics I posted. I have decided not even to trim that little stuff up.
Congrats on the harvest bud. Looks amazing to me. Sorry you're a bit disappointed... things may not have been perfect, but you did an great job. Don't forget to be proud of yourself.:clap::clap:
Thank you Jig, I apprecaite the comment. I am hapy with my first round. Many lessons learned and many more yet to discover.
Looks damn good. Got a beautfiul purple tint to it! Sorry about the pods.
Thank you, yeah they are very purple. I can't wait to see how they dry.
man those pods dont even look bad, i cant tell its a hermie from looking at it
you should be stoked they didnt go full blown herimie, i fuckin hate seedy weed
I am not sure if they hermied, it could just be some swollen calyxes. I guess I'll find out when it's dry enough to smoke, but at this point I am much more optimistic than last night.

I am hoping so. :)

Yeah, the jury is still out on the hermie situation. There were a few things that made me think they had. The pods, which may be calyxes, the top of some of the buds were almost dry, and the odor change. The smell changed the last couple weeks of flower from real sweet to a little more harsh smell. I don't know if that means anything, but during harvest the odor was so strong we had to go outside and get fresh air every couple hours. I actually showered and went to the store, ran inot some people I know and they said " wow dude, you reak of pot." lol I wore gloves, but I was wearing the hat that I chopped them down in and I had my head all in the stuff. lol

Yeah, I am kind of paranoid.lol I am hoping it is in my head. Last night I was going on 36 hours without sleep. I had to take someone to the ariport at 3:30 the morning after new years, so I didn't get any sleep and came home to start chopping and trimming. I was getting dilerious. lol

Thanks again. Trimming does suck ass. I thought it was cool the first several hours, but then it becomes a job. :/

Well next time you can come over for aa therapy session. lol I did it at the dinning room table with tv on, but mainly just listened becaue I had to stair at the buds to trim.lol It wasn't that bad I guess.
PK is always a winner. There's a reason the PK cuts are more expensive at the Oaksterdam Nursery.

Can't wait to see the finished product and good luck with those little pests...
Thanks man, I think I knocked the bugs down in the veg room. Haven't seen any the last couple of nights.

So we are pretty much done trimming. The house smells like a skunk pissed all over the walls and I am ready to crash. lol I have no idea what to expect for a yeild, but seems like it should be decent. My goal was .5 gram per light for my first round. I hung the buds in my downstaris bathroom with a fan on low facing against the wall so there wasn't any direct air hitting them. I am going to get a reducer to vent the exhuast fan in the bathroom into my room, so I can use the carbon filter I already have, tomorrow. I have a lot of work to do now moving the vegging girls and getting the flower room prepped. I will probably start a new grow thread tomorrow for them.

Oh and just a note I forgot to mention, dont give them 36 hours or even 24 in transition to 12/12.. go directly to 12/12. Just a rec. Ive seen experiments where increased hours into transition didnt speed things up but slowed them down, as well as increased stretch over the dark period.

That trim pile looks nice and neat. You wouldnt believe how lazy I got with trimming this round.

RAIDER i am sorry i never even congradulated u on a gorgeous harvest, your pics were some of the best on the site, and still are
props for that bro and yea im a big fan of pruning, those lower stemmy buds are annoying

u should compare your yeild off 1 plant u did this round to 1 you prune in the future because TONS of ppl here will tell u not to prune, well others are all for it

sidenote: BTERZ, ive always thought like that, give a plant 18/6 or 24/0 or watever for veg, and then just throwing them in the dark for 36 hours will just stress the shit out of them before flower? not make them think to flower?
you know they are FACTS??

I remember contiplating this last time and after researching it decided to go straight to 12/12. I have heard of many people that swear by that 35 hour thing, it just down't seem natural to me.

Thank you, I appreciate the compliment. I will defiatnly compare yeilds, beacause I plan on runing off all the little bud site that shoot off. the main colas.
nice work Raider

we oughta get together sometime soon and do a sample sesh :-)
Thanks mam. Are you in norcal?
nice grow man. hey when your done trimming all of that, can u tell me what your yield was
It has to dry. I just had a buddy call and ask the same thing. He even asked for wet weight. Why would I weigh it wet.lol I will post a final yeild whenever it is dry and I transfer to jars. I might put a pic up later ofdrying buds tho.

you could leave all the popcorn nuggets on the plant to continue to develop ;). They will ripen up nicely with more light exposure ;). however, I know you really want to clear some space in your veg room :)

I like what TLD is saying there.......
I like to take a wet weight, takes the surprise away though, and can give you a reasonable ball park......

Here are some shots of the drying buds.

Hanging

This I have on a screen and rotate every few hours..I got lazy last night, but I will probably hang this up.

The bag on the left is popcorn, the other two are fine trimnings. I threw out all the large fans.

There are some more loose buds on a little box that I forgot to take pic of.

Nice. One step closer. Your gonna have some good hash there to. So you cut all the fan leaves and trim and manicure them before you dry? I am new thats why i ask, still learning about drying, manicure and cure part of growing. I want to know the best steps after harvesting to maximize potency.

Raider those buds look tasty
