I am surprised how they survived. I checked the pooled run-off and it test at EC 5.5 pH 4.8 OUUUCCCCCCHHH!!!

Possibly because my nutes were all organic. My understanding is that they need to be broken down by bacteria before plant takes them up, I am thinking that's why it took the girls a while to show they were hurting.

All this could have been avoided if I watered with run-off at least here and there, and check its pH and EC.

It seems that most of the folks visiting my thread know a lot more than me, but to all the noobs learn from my mistake!!

Yeah Bro, I don't always get 20% run-off, but I water until I see the water comming out of the bottom, it continues to run out after I stop watering. I would say 10%, but every 3rd watering I try to make sure I get 20%. Don't ask me why every 3rd, but it has worked for me.
I am glad to hear you found your potential issue, but I wouldn't change much as your grow is doing so well you don't want to mess something up now..I would make subtle changes.

Looks like your biggest girl has a 1/2 oz cola on top :p :D....... There need be no guess work when it comes to runoff..... put your plant over a larger basin, start with a half gallon water for five gallon pot and go from there, water, water falls into the larger basin from the bottom of the pot is the runoff, once it all collects in the basin, you can measure it, remembering you started with a half gallon, you can see what % is runoff, and choose whether you want to increase amount of water or decrease.....

When watering, I get about 10%, 15%, and then 30% runoff before starting again at 10%, it helps keep the media happy and free of unhealthy salt build ups etc. it also makes it easier to manage the EC..... my water comes out of the tap with an EC of .7 ... when I feed, it gets as high as 2.3 with my strongest feeding applications, and even then I water in with regular water that has an EC of .7 :D ...... this works to balance things out perfectly...... same with ph..... comes out the tap EC-.7....... ph-6.4-6.6 ...... TDS 70-120...... this is perfect for balancing out my aggressive, but balanced, feedings that get to points where its like, EC-2.3-2.5 (at highest, I water in) ph-5.5-5.7 (at lowest, I water in) and TDS of close to 1700 (only getting this high from week 5 1/2 to week 7 by combining two separately fed formulas Micro Maxes at ppm of 500-700, and Macro maxes at 1100-1200) I have tested my runoff when feeding thus...... and typically what happens is: As the feeding formula's pass through with approximately 10% runoff I get measurements that start at ppm 1800-2000, EC 2.5-2.8, ph 5.7-6.2, and the runoff changes to this as I "water in": ppm 1400-1600, EC 1.7-2, ph 6.0-6.4

Hope that helps people understand how I get away with what seems like too highly concentrated feedings ;)

man id be proud to have plants like urs in my tent lol. My tent looks like a trench at Verdun, well it did till i hooverd the coco up and cleared the bodies out lol.

Thank you so much my good friend for this excellent information. I have definitely learned a great lesson, I am just happy i learned it without wasting the medicine. With your explanation along with all other good friends' inputs I will surly not repeat this mistake.

Thank you for you kind words.

I do sometime wonder how it would be growing in other mediums, since I got no experience prior to this grow. Is Coco that great that I should even consider messing around with other mediums?
