A heads up for you outside Hill Country growers. Ft. Hood is a training stage for the bellowing low throated booming FLIR Army helicopters, they do this broad loop around here looking for increasing Central American pot growers. I see them all the time at my place.

Of course they are looking for outside grows. Friends recently told me that growers from El Salvador were busted for outside grows. South Americans are finding out that it's easier to grow pot on someone's land than it is to import it. Camps with cell phones, tents, etc. have been confiscated along with the plants.

The helicopters are large, army green (brown) with long FLIR pods sticking out the front used for ground signatures. They are loud, deep throated, and slow moving. You'll here them coming a mile away.

In a situation like that would it make a difference to turn off your lights?
I would think not but any advice from a veteran like yourself would be great!

On a side note, thanks for your thread on topping and fimming. I got a four foot round bush with 8 fat tops after parcticing your tech.

Great post buddy. Good information. I'm in the same area, but I only grow indoors. They pretty much are just sweeping the countryside right? They don't fly over city/residential do they? I've heard Austin has FLIR too...

keep your grow room cool during the winter

dont let it warm up just because it is cool outside

also if you can buy mylar to keep heat from sticking to your walls

if you vent, make sure, its through your dryer exhaust and not to the attic as it will show up in the cold time of year IF you are running a big number of lights

you can also get those FLIR thermal protectors or something like that i think growtech uses them check out his journel

be careful dudes

I used to grow out in Burnet TX back in my early days and I would be out watering my plants and I would have to flee through the woods cause the choppers would be flying over looking for plants. That was about a hour south of Kileen/Ft. Hood.

It's all about heat signatures. The FLIR can not pick up an inside wall unless you're running alot of wattage and that heat is transferring thru the layers of ceiling material, insulation, roofing materials, etc. An outside wall signature is a different matter, but then again I've never seen a copter flying at street level.

Good to hear you're gonna have a fat harvest. Have fun!

IOW, don't sweat it.

Don't know D.C. Must be alot of growers in the Hill Country.

A cowboy walks into the bedroom carrying a sheep in his arms and says, "Honey, this is the cow I make love to when you have a headache."

The wife, laying in bed reading a book, looks up and says, "If you weren't such an idiot, you'd know that's a sheep, not a cow."

The guy replies, "If you weren't such a stupid bitch, you'd realize I was talking to the sheep."
