i jar when they are as you describe, but usually take them back out for a day after a day in the jar. after a day in the jar the moisture in the bendy stems will spread to the buds...this may seem too moist to stay in the jars, this is something your going to have to learn to do by feel yourself. another day out of the jar, or even with the jar open all day, they should be crispy on the outside again. jar em up and start curing. i open for 5-10 minutes a day but as i said earlier YOU have to be the judge. you want it to dry/cure as slow ar possible without mold.

let the stem snap... too many ppl under estimate the internal moisture and get moldy buds... jus read another thread created today on it and how he jarred too early and his shit went moldy... ide rather have dry crispy nugs then moldy 1s

I've been doing it like this for years, I do not take it out of the jars once its in simply because I pack it in pretty tight. I check it daily, often leaving the jars open all day for the first week or so and have never had a mould problem.

i think i'll just wait until the stems snap, just to be on the safe side,is there such a thing as over hang drying ? where as when you put them in the jars nothing happens ? just curious

I waited till the stem bends and my buds were hard to keep lit. Give it some more time, and see what you get. Next time, you can change the process if you want. I think its all just how you like your buds.

I just went through the same thing. I thought they were getting too dry, but I was worried about mold (had some once). I wound up letting them go until I started getting snaps (6-7 days), and it worked out just fine.

The problem with waiting until the stems snap is that the stem only snaps when the entire thing is almost dry, the stem is in the center of the bud, so when it snaps, the entire bud has dried out, this risks having too dry of bud... I'm not saying it's wrong, but i'd rather have to cure a few days longer than have too dry of bud, you can't fix overdried bud no matter what you try... I wait until it's exactly as you described, and even with forearm thick buds it still dries just fine when the stems aren't snapping. I think the stem snap thing is overdone, plus, you aren't smoking the stem.... I've had my bud get too dried out and it is the WORST!! especially if you've taken your time and put effort into your grow. Jar those babies ASAP and cure them just like they say. If the stems are still a little bendy she'll be fine, may take a few days longer to totally cure but it wont be a big difference. Also, keep an eye out for mold! i've never had it but a friend of mine had it, yes, when the stems were snapping before he put them in the glass jar, so watch out! and get ready to enjoy some dank!!!....sidenote... i ordered masterkush with my blue mystic from Nirvana and was disappointed, i did the paper towel method and screwed up my seeds (newb mistake) oh well... you live and you learn... goodluck!!!

I take them down when they are getting dry on the outside. My last harvest had very large buds (see avatar) and I wanted to dry them slowly and evenly. I don't want to hang those up and wait unitl they dry out completely, they'll be toast.

I hang them until the outside is dry, put them in jars overnight and let that moisture draw to the outsides of the buds again. Then I'll pull all of the buds out and spread them around a bit and put them back in the jars with the lids off for a few hours. Then lids on. I basically use the jars to slowly dry the buds by using the lids as my moisture control. It takes about 2 weeks to get the buds fully dry by slowing the process using the jars.

I want to dry them nice and even and this is the only way that I've found that works. Jarring them and only opening the jar twice a day as has been taught on here for a long time simply isn't enough drying time. Let it get moist in the jar, then let it get dry in the jar again, and repeat over and over until eventually the buds are all dry and you no longer need to open the jars anymore.

The first few days it'll be about 1/2 the time open and 1/2 the time closed. Then it goes to only being open about 2 hours 3x/day so about 6 hours of open jar time. Then it'll go down to 1 hour each time, then 30 min. each time and eventually it does get down to just opening the jars and exchanging the air 2-3/day.

After about 3 weeks it's down to just opening the jars every once in awhile to exchange the air and the buds are nicely dried and cured, aren't crispy or moldy and give a great flavor and strong potency.

Sure you can. I harvested a crop last year that I had hanging to dry for a week or so, the problem was the electric heat was on in the room, so the buds got really dry, so dry that I had to handle them with care so as not to break them all apart. All I did was I gently put the buds in rubbermaid containers with some fresh orange skins. Within two days the buds were perfect and could be handled as normal and the bud smoked great.

To lazy to quote but, I agree with andy and laser. And the guy on the 1st page who said its up to you how its done. Using their advice as a guideline.

Ive never had problems with mold either, putting them in jars when the stems are a bit bendy. Neither has a couple of my buddies. But crops that are in less than favorable conditions, like rained on bud, high humidity, are prone to having troubles if not taking the proper precautions to drying the excess moisture out as well.
