First Grow Room Set Up NEED ADVICE

I will be moving into a condo in a month or so...and there is a perfect little closet that I plan I turning into a grow room.

Currently I have a 250HPS and a 400MH Lights. I know that HPS is better for flowering and MH better for Veg but i'm thinking that it would be in my best intrest to veg with the 250hps and flower with the 400MH just for the simple fact its more light. Would that be the best idea? Or just veg with MH and flower under a weaker HPS?

Anyways on to the the grow room set up.

The closet is 1.5ft x 5ft x 8ft. I'm planning on dividing the closet down the middle to create two even sections. Attached is a weak ass mspaint drawing that i threw together so you can see the way i was wanting to set it up. I have a stealth cabinet conversion that i was originally going to grow everything in but with the closet i will use the cabinet for my clones and toss a couple 2ft fluros in there to get the clones going.

The fan i'm going to be using is a 740 cfm fan is that going to be enough to properly ventilate both sides of the closet?

The intake ports are messed up in the drawing they will be right next to each other and they will be drawing air from the other side of the wall(The right side of the closet wall is above the stairs. I was planning on using 2in diam pvc pipe( 90 degree elbow mounted directly to the wall then another 3in long piece running alont the inside wall of the closet to help eliminate light escaping or entering through the intake ports) On the outside of the wall i will be mounting an AC vent with the little slit type vents all pointing upward to cover the intake ports so that you cant see them walking up the stairs.

Also is it ok to have the exhaust dump through the odorsok and into the utility room since that room will be sealed off from the veg/flower chambers?

Is the way I have things set up in the picture going to work? Any ideas on how i could improve the design?

The best advice I can give is be patient and dont over care for your plant they like to be left alone pretty much. Dont over water. Its 100 times better to let it dry tottally out because it will repair in a few days. Dont water till top 2 inches of soil is bone dry. But overwatering and root rot will result in death or stunted growth. Dont over fert just follow the directions on box. Ok thats about it. Oh 1st timers I strongly reccommend soil. Use both lights for veg and flower.

I will be using soil...i say its my first grow but its actually my second.

Which is why i'm curious about the design of the closet and the questions I asked in my previous post.

I added another pic to my original post of the actual floor plan so you can see where the closet is located and get better feel for what i'm talking about. Would be nice to get an exp growers opinion of the set up.

Also does it matter if you set up your carbon filter on the intake side of the ventilation system or the exhaust side? Does it work better with air being pushed or pulled through it?

EDIT: If you look @ the diagram i attached you will see that in the flowering chamber i will have the fan hooked to one side of the cool tube drawing air from the chamber through the cool tube and using passive intakes...is this going to be good enough to ventilate the chamber?

EDIT#2: I picked up a Soil PH Meter from Lowes...http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=251959-83666-1220&lpage=none&cm_mmc=search_gps-_-gps-_-gps-_-Mosser%20Lee%20Soil%20Master%20Moisture%20Meter....are these fairly accurate or would i be better off using the actual soil test kits with the pills that you disolve in water?

Not to much help on the design but I do know you need to circulate air in boxes 2-3 times per five minutes. Figure out your cubic footage (length x width x Height) and then account for about a 10% to 15% loss of efficiency and that is the size fan you need. The loss of efficiency will be because of filters, elbows, and length of hose. Keep these all to the bare minimums.
As for the lights you need to use the MH for vegging and the HPS for flowering. There are some good threads about the amount of lumens per space on here. Just use the search.
