My first grow and journal

I have been growin for a month and a week now, i did get the lights off schedule a couple times and i think that threw them into flower mode, but im still vegging for right now.
I want to wait till all plants are growing a good couple of 5 point nodes before i start flowering.
I also want to let the new babies get some good growth on them and try to flower all the plants at the same time since they are only a couple weeks behind the older plants.

hmm that is nuts that they started to flower. I would think growth would slow down since they have to revert back to vegging.

I too have some plants older than others and I want them to flower at the same time. Check it out sometime the link is in my sig at the bottom there.

I was thinkin the same thing. Maybe that's why they are still continuing to grow so slow. Or because I only have 75w hps *sigh* Oh well it was free and I can't complain. I am finally a grower!

Very true very true. Start researching CFL I hear they are a good way to keep cost down and work good too.

yep, I been lookin at the cfl's every time I go to walmart. The only problem there is they only go up to 26w (100w equivalent).
I did get to buy a couple 100w MH bulbs on clearance for 7 bucks tonight!!
The ballast for the mh looks the same as my hps, Im gonna change out the hps and put in one of the metal halide bulbs and see if it sparks her up. If so, maybe my vegging will come along better. The reason I bought 2 is in case when I try the first one it blows up the bulb from improper ballast lol
trial and error. I don't think it will be a problem since they are such low wattage.
Im goin to lowes and/or sears tomorrow to check out those monster cfl's i keep hearing about.

from what I understand ur mh will work but the life expectancy of the bulb will drop considerably. Those will be a nice add to your grow Im sure of it.

eh, they were only 7 bucks a piece. I'll accept the loss of life integrity of the bulb. Worth it, if it helps my babes grow better.

well, I tried the mh bulb. The ballast wasn't strong enough to push the bulb. It was barely brighter than the moon lol

Here's the plant I tried topping on. After I topped Is when the 5 pointer first came out.

Here she is from the side, you can't really tell from this pic but there are 2 growths other than the 5 pointer that is coming out.

Here's the taller one. I'm pretty sure she is stretched so I start callin her the stretched one.

Here is the stretched one. I tried a super cropping technique on her.
You can see in the pics the new growth forming right under where I pinched the stem.
There was a bead of "blood" formed over the wound, I'll try to get it in my next pics.

You can see right under the leaves the stem looks flat, this is where I crushed it. Under there you can see the new growth.

Before I take and upload these new pics I must say the other day I added more MG to the water to make it more of a 1/2 to full strength solution.
A day or 2 later I noticed a MAJOR difference.
The leaves were super dark greener and looked so much healthier. They seemed to be a little thicker and sturdier like they are actually absorbing the hps now.
I think they really needed the stronger nutes.

They don't look so well do they. I'll keep my eye on them, I think they'll pull through.

This one's two leaves fell off and only has these little 3 pointers.

I know, these two need to be transplanted. As do all my plants -_-

Here's a pic of the growth on the cropped one.

As you see this technique obviously works. Just testing out different ways to grow so later when I can create a bad ass setup I'll grow some of the finest.

Good experience, gotta learn somehow.

Heres some good shots of the topped plant.
You'll be able to see the 5 pointer that came out, a new 5 pointer as another stem just starting, and another leaf that is the product of not topping correctly lol

Here on the left is the 5 pointer, in the top middle is the new growth and the leaf on the right under the new growth is actually another stem not part of the new growth.

Same pic with more lighting, you can kinda tell a lil easier what I'm talkin about.

Here you can now see the deformed leaf of when you mess up. But it's all good, still gonna grow.

The way it looks this plant is gonna have 3 tops. I'll keep you informed cuz it's my first time so I'm not sure.

thanks for all the info. No wonder why you want new pics you always have a shit load. Well it looks like the experimenting worked out for you. and you do have the HPS right? those babies still need more light try getting them a little closer so they do try and stretch on you any more. Good to know you got the super cropping down I want to see how that new growth looks in a week. Keep it up

Yeah I got the HPS, but turns out its only 70 watts!
They are about an inch or 2 away from the bulb.

This grow is not well thought out, the plants do not look good. If I were you I would just buy my weed, or put some real effort into it. MG is for bitches. Thi is one of the shitttiest looking grows I have ever seen

Very rude, Being new to RIU and first grow I would expect advice at the least. Not being put down by a spoonfed hoogie that was raised in the suburbs.
You actually have some real grow lights and you talk shit? Did you buy them, or were you given them? Because all I have is a 70w, and it was free which is all I can afford.
