im growing in a grow tent
and i have a 400 watt hps
with a 6inch inline booster fan sucking some hot air out
and 2 normal house hold fans blowing air in
will a cooling tower 3 speed help me cool down the tent?

Anyone???????????????????????
You gotta exit more heat instead of trying to pump cool air in. Try isolating the bulb like make it a cool tube idea, and you'll notice huge improvements.

Or if you have access to plexi glass, make that the roof of your tent, and have the light in the top portion, and have a seperate ventalation for just the light.

But won't venting out a lot of heat mean that you're going to get a lot of smelliness? Or is this where you'd put a filter or something in?

Maybe it's just not a problem?

In my experience so far smelliness has not been an issue for me. However no, just because you vent more doesn't mean your have more smell.

Id buy a nice reflecter and a piece of glass, this will stop your heat stress.Cool tubes suck, they burn bulbs premature and dont spread the light downward

Why does the bulb burn out pre mature?

You may have just curbed my cool tube idea, but i like your piece of glass idea.

Im not the only one this has happened to.Ive seen a lot of forums.I only had a 4 inch TD series fan ,I bought a six inch vortex this week,I use sunlight supply-super sun and sungrow hoods with a 19.00$ piece of tempered glass and I have 3 cool tubes laying in the bedroom floor. My hotulux bulb burned out in 2 months of on a 12 hour flowering cycle. The bulb was yellow on the inside and kind of looked like a tar laiden glass bowl.My hydro store dont even carry tubes anymore because of this. Some people like them, maybe they have not used them long enough yet,They dont spread the light pattern downward either. You cant go wrong with a good reflecter and glass Peace

this could be a stupid question lol .... putting glass in front of the bulb ---- would that magnify the light ?----------- similar to like burning ants with a magnifying glass ??

make it so your light goes on at night and off during the day problem solved mine runs 73F when lights off during the day and a perfect 75F with lights on at night

glass would refelct... a magnefine glass wounldnt
Your all wrong. A convex lense is what magnifies light. And a Concave glass lense would to the oppiset, Strait glass does not do the oppiset.

A strait sheet of glass that's flaw free will reflect a very very small amount of light, not enough to make any difference to the plants.

It filters out some light...reducing the overall light penetration. Right? Sorry i'm not a genius...but i always like to learn new things.

Perhaps, on a minute measurable level but not big enough to make a difference.

as long as it's nice clean, flawless (consistant density) glass it will have no negitive effects at all.
