The BubbleHead Gang

Whats up bubbleheads? I joined up because after a few soil grows I wanted to try out a dwc grow. I am about a week along and everythings going pretty good. I will try and post a journal soon. I am trying to do this organically, so I may be in for a challenge. I am using bat guano, seaweed, superthrive, and waiting on some earth nectar/ambrosia. Oh yeah, I am using cfl's from start to finish as well. Currently I got like 150 watts on a few plants. I'm using smaller 2.5 gallon buckets for height reasons, my cabs not very big, this is a micro grow. Later herbsmen

hey guys quick question im fixing to build an 8 plant dwc micro grow style for me . and my only question is do you let the air pump run 24/7? and does the water need to cover the roots and how much if so? thx much and+rep to all you bubble heads and ill be joining yall soon.

I guess I uploaded the signature, but failed to save it or something. Here you go. Oh yeah I'm growing sensi seeds california indica . Ive also got some buddha blueberry in the mail, and some DNA genetics pure afghani coming. I cant wait to sprout them. Later

From what Ive read you always keep the pump on. As for the roots if its sprouted and going then you want to put it lower in the bucket so it gets wet. I hope my newbie info helps.

This root rot is starting to make me twich. Changed to a 5 gal. Water temp is steady at 68-70. ph is 6.8. Should I change water like every 3 days. The roots were turning white then yesterday I notice them looking real brownish again. Now today I see some little white shoots comming out of the muck again. Is it time to scrap it and start over? Can I save it? Is it worth it? Grrrrr lol

yes, you run the air pumps 24/7. Most are very low power draw and aren't even noticable on ComEd. My 3 big pumps are drawing 9 watts total. You also want most of the roots submerged in nutrient solution. I'll give a ball park of 80-95%. And the more air the better, especially if your tubs/buckets are shallow(less than 12").

Dont have to scrap. White fresh shoots mean it is getting better. As long as you dont have organics in the res, you can add around 1teaspoon of Hydrogen Peroxide(H2O2) per gallon of water. This usually clears most roots up. Also, depending how much air you have going in the tub, you might want to add more. I have found there is no such thing as overkill when it comes to roots. Reccomend having a heavy stream of bubbles filling out most of your res, not just a small stone in the middle. If you push air like I do, 2 dual diaphram GH air pumps in 5 gal flower tub and 1 of the same in 2.5 gal clone res, then res temp is almost irrelavant. Colder is better, but I have had healthy rapid plant and root growth in res temps above 80F.

These bad boys grew in a res temp average of 82F, but with 4 12" trangle airstones on 1 GH Dual Diaphram 2.5 Gal of Nutrients. The root in my sig are also these roots, but a couple of weeks before the top shot.

not sure what that would do since I have never tried it. If it's easy for you to do, give it a try, the plant will let you know within 72hrs. if they like it or not.

yes, the air pumps runs 24/7.
with a DWC, you need clones or baby sprouts that already have roots.
With a true Bubbleponics, with feeder tubes, you can start seed in it.

you pH it soo high, but I'd need to know more about what system you are using. Plain DWC? True Bubbleponics with water pump and feeder tubes?

hey guys will the led lights in cpu fan hurt the girls when in the dark time?
yes, if they are on during the dark cycle. Would go with the fans with no leds, because even if they're green, I wouldnt want them on throughout my entire dark cycle every night.
