Is Gay Marriage Really That Big Deal?

what you all are failing to see is that i am on the same side, i just have a different "goal" in mind.

i do NOT believe it is right that i HAVE to marry someone to gain rights.

does anyone here get it? it's 1 sentence.
Well, you didn't make it very clear initially. But, now that you've done so... I'm with you on that one.

I get it, and I couldn't agree more.

Now, admit that you hate gay people (or are secretly gay yourself), and we'll all be on our merry little ways.

i hate whining in your face gay people, but then again i hate all whiny in your face people equally so, ........

if yo're gay i don't care until you start telling me about how you're gay. kinda like the church people pushing religion. what you do in your own time is your own business, simply keep it that way.

so no, i do not hate ALL gay people. not until i can meet each and everyone one of them and decide individually.

but if it makes you feel as if you've won to label me, ...

Nope, not looking for a reason to hate. If you came out and said that you were against ALL marriage before the 20th page of this thread, I must've missed it.

i'm pretty sure this has been my stand all along. others just love to assume so they can hate. it's the animal in them.

i feel the same way about it.
in my life experience... when it comes to people i've met vs people i like it looks like gays>people from texas.

that is to say, iv'e met more gay people i like than people from texas that i like.

lets deny equal marraige rights to texans.

because i didn't you all assumed. it's on you. you could have simply asked before making any judgment.

You implied that gays ought to be satisfied just getting a 10 cent will at Office Depot rather than hoping for equal treatment. I responded to that. I'm not going to ask every person in the thread to explain their opinions in complete detail before I respond to a statement.

I admit it. You came into a debate about gay marriage. A bunch of people say that being gay is wrong, and gays don't deserve the right to marry, and you add comments about why gays shouldn't marry. Yep, I assumed you were with them. Imagine that. If you state your opinion in the first place, it wouldn't happen.

please show me where i said they shouldn't marry.

maybe you should stop assuming, take a little responsibility for being wrong. learn to ask before you judge, then i might vote for gay marriage.

I'm against marriage just because not everyone can get ''married''. It's the equality thing. If I can get married, I don't see why anyone else shouldn't be allowed to. Even if it had nothing to do with legal rights or civil rights, if it was simply the name ''marriage''. I'd never actively support or passively let some religious idiot try to claim superiority over someone else and feed the morons ego any further. That stuff is obsolete, it belongs in the past. By supporting that position, you're agreeing with his logic, you're saying he's right for thinking this way, he's right for wanting more than someone else simply because their sexual prefrence is different. What the hell kind of shit is that man, honestly? How is that any different than me saying something as stupid as "I don't think left handed people should be allowed to get married, I disagree with their lifestyle, I believe it's immoral and disgusting.." - forget about your opposition to the black/gay analogy, howbout that shit?

EVERYBODY can get married . You just can't marry a beagle, a chicken, a goat , or a person of the same sex..... Some of you are trying way too hard to make it sound like people's constitutional rights are being violated. NOBODY is being discriminated on .

What a ridiculous argument. Do you know of any people wanting to marry chickens? That has nothing to do with this discussion.
Gay people who can't be married ARE being discriminated against.

Aside from your silly chicken point, the usual arguments are:

  • I think it's disgusting. So fucking what. I'm not attracted to obese people. Should I try for legislation to stop them from marrying?
  • It's immoral. If your religion doesn't permit it, don't do it. Don't shove your crap down everyone elses throats. And, don't act like you don't selectively ignore tons of other stuff in your damn bible when you feel like it.
  • It's unnatural. We can sit here all day listing things that are unnatural that we ALL do - everyday. Wearing clothes, wearing glasses, driving cars... hell, is my using this laptop right now natural? Which animals in nature do that??

those are crappy arguments for gays imo..

Nobody cares about your liberal talking points on gay marriage. I don't care if somebody does something that I think is disgusting. It doesn't make it wrong. Why would you bring that up? What the hell does disgusting have to do with gay marriage? It is just as illegal for me to marry another man as it would be for a homo. so how is that discrimination?

seriously, if you don't get it, no amount of explaining is gonna help. don't ask questions you either don't want to know the answer to, or already have the answer to. imagine marraige was defined as a union between a left handed woman and a right handed man.
then say you are in love with a right handed woman while you yourself are right handed. can't get married. just as ridiculous as the status quo.
