soil help!

thanks man i appreciate the feedback... unfortunately none of the lowes by me sells it

look in the local yellow pages for a nursery or garden supply store. most towns large and small will have one or the other. look for a soil called black gold. its very common, inexpensive and very good soil that has continued to be bug free for me for the past few years that ive used it. if they dont have black gold grab whatever mid range soil they have. the problem that alot of people seem to run into buying the cheaper soils that lowes or home depot carries are the fungas gnats that always seem to come with their soil

I use Scott's Potting Soil from Home Depot, have had no problems with it thus far.
First where are you located. Next if you any of the soils from Home Depot you will be cheating yourself out of some weed later on. Last year was my first year back to growing and I did an experiment with Super Soil and Fox Farms Happy Frog. I planted the same seeds in the same peat pots one week apart. The Super soil seeds were planted first. The Happy Frog seeds passed up the Super soil seeds in 2 weeks and kept going. I tried to help the plants in the super soil recover by transplanting them into the Happy Frog but they never got close all the way to harvest when they were like half the size or less. The Fox Farms and Roots Organic soils have michoraizae (sp?) that attach to the roots when the plant first starts to grow and accelerates the plant through the rest of its life.
So if you can get the good stuff it is worth the search. If you are in Northern Ca it should be easy to find. Most of the stores that say Hydro in the name will have these good soils.

does home depot carry black gold? its great stuff been using it for awhile now, but i get it from a garden supply. im sure home depot would have a better price..

You can find retailers that carry fox farm products in your area by going to the foxfarms website. it's got a map. click on your state and go from there.

Have any Kroger markets in your area? I was blown away that they carry FFOF, the small bags!!
i use scotts gardening soil... it's working like a charm... has very light plant food, didn't burn the seedlings... AND ITS like 2.50 for 1.5 square feet....I use Scott's Potting Soil from Home Depot, have had no problems with it thus far.
look up hydroponic shop in you zip code in google maps...
the list that comes up, call them, e-mail, courier, telegraph, smoke signal them......
while it's technically a hydro shop, most 'hydro' shops are indoor gardening shops...at least where I live....
they'll guide you to a store that has it, if they don't, which i doubt.....
