I'm a complete noob to growing BUT my first "grow" consisted of 3 50 watt standard lights. Took about 4 months total from seed to flower and all I got was a 1/4 oz.

So, yeah you can do it but, no, it's definitely not reccomended.

Get some daylight (cool) cfl's for vegging and then switch to warm cfl's for vegging.

If you are not on a small budget do some research and get some real growing equipment. :peace:

Incandescent bulbs are extremely inefficient and don't create enough of the right spectrum of light in the right quantities to facilitate the growth of marijuana.

u mean switch to warm in flowering?? right?

dude cfl's for sure. i have six cfl's. they are big spiral ones. you can get them at home deopt for 15 bucks each. they say they use 80 watts or some shit, but put off the equivilent lumens of a 300 watt bulb. use those lights with emergency foil blankets around the plants for super cfl lighting. i got my seeds for 25 bucks, pure strains, spent about 120 bucks on the lights, 40 on the 2x4s for the growing station i built and like 3 bucks on the blankets and it works great. check my pics.
