This is not a socialized health care system. It is one insurance plan that will cover the american citizens that are not covered right now. And when people are able to go to the doctor, that means earlier diagnosis and easier surgeries
yes, and the moon is made of cheese. tell me this han, if there already is a shortage of doc's and nurses in the US how is introducing a program that "squeezes" (obamas words not mine) the profits out of doc's and nurses gonna make more of them? make a doc go to school for 15 years, go into debt up to his ass, work 80 hours a week, and tell them they will only make 40k a year.....thats gonna make for increased better healthcare? yep, the pink elephants are here now to take me away....

if you think healthcare is expensive now, wait till its free. the only reason they are going after healthcare is because its the only business in the country that is still making money. its marxism 101. you guys bitch all you want but history doesnt lie......unless of course you dont know any. this is the same argument that has been around since....forever. do a little reading about it around the early 1930's. its the same arguments now.
LOL it always makes me laugh when ppl from the US talk about what our health care is like here. I guess none of you guys have seen Mike Moore's "Sicko"? all about US, Canada and Englands health care system and how it works?
Let me try and enlighten some of you.
A family of 3 will pay for the most expensive ins. coverage $90.00 which covers everything including meds. If I pay $325.00 for my whole family for meds all my other meds for the whole family will be covered no matter what they are.
If I am flat broke and can not afford this the Gov. steps in and I only have to come up with I think it's $5.00 a month and they will cover everything.
As far as Dental this is another story you can also get this covered as ours is covered under this plan but only 80% and not cosmetic.
If your broke you can go to the college and get help there.
As far as waiting yes you do have to wait but you will not die waiting as this is not how it happens. It's the worst gets served first. Even in the Hospitals here. We don't go broke trying to pay any doctors bill ever!!! Never even think about a bill!!!!! or what it might cost!!! That is how it should be . peace out Headband707

Look. . . Im all for ya'll having debate about the condition of our lives and the government and how it should be run. . . thats what happened with the forming of the constitution. . . guys yelling and fighting with eachother over a 19 day period to form the greatest document in our country's history. . . but ya'll need to knock off all this bullshit about calling people racist and stereotyping! If you wanna call someone an asshole or dumbass or whatever. . . thats between ya'll. . . but unless someone has posted something that specifically degrades a person or people based on their ethnicity or skin color, then there is no need to drop the "R" word!! So by all means keep up the debate if ya'll want to, its the only way opinions can be shared and compromises can be reached (even if it does take a long ass time) its our freedom to do so! Ya'll just try to keep the insults a fitting response to whats being posted! So, please. . . continue!

You are jumping around again. He did say squeeze, but you are putting in the doctor and nurses pay. The squeeze comes from waste in the adminstrational expenses. Waste in not knowing their drugs as well as they should, or not refering the medication part to the staff pharmacists who would make much better choices on what they should be on.

Also all the tests that are wasted to drive up the insurance bill (and yes this does happen), centralizing the database I heard a hospital administrator talk about would save his one hospital about $100k a year.

Then add in that you remove all the excess costs in the emergency room visits of the poor trying to get over a cold and you are talking serious savings.

Then people that can afford to have insurance now have to pay for it, or the 2.5% tax to not have it means that there is more money in the system.

Oh and not to mention bankruptcy costs savings from the people that get sick and lose everything.

There is lots of areas to 'squeeze' costs that have nothing to salaries. That is another injection that is not reality, just like the pink elephant.

Oh and there are plenty of Doctors to cover everyone. I posted this a while back and did the math with some nice charts and links to medical surveys to support it. The only reason there are not more general MD's now is that specialization it the shit. Instead of making $200,000 a year as a general practicioner, they pull in $400,000+ with a few more years tacked onto the end. And with everyone losing their insurance general MD's have a harder time keeping their clients.

The waste isn't in doctors and nurses salaries it's administrative and profit, rediculous redundancy and overhead.

Also other countries that provide universal healthcare also provide free higher education. They can become doctors for free and don't have to start their career off as indentured servants mistreated overworked and underpaid like every health care worker is here when they start residency.

Imagine how many more doctors and nurses we might have... You logic is backwards because you just don't know anything about what you're talking about.

Stop fighting it, you don't even understand what you are fighting against.

The statists continue making the claim that there are 47 million people in the U.S. who have no medical insurance. So what? I could care less who has insurance and who doesn't.

Out of the 47 million uninsured, 12 million are in the country illegally. I don't want to pay for them. Another 15 million are young people who are placing themselves at risk because they think they are bullet proof. I don't want to pay for their stupidity. There are millions more who could afford health insurance, but opt for a nicer car instead. I don't want to pay for their stupidity and their penchant for keeping up with the Joneses either.

Now then, that leaves a few million who are actually UNINSURABLE due to factors beyond their control. These are the people we should be concerned with, feel compassion for ... and do something about. There just is no point in abolishing a system that MOST Americans are happy with in order to placate the few who are actually in need. Let's try a free market approach instead.

The health care debate isn't about health care at all. Its about more government control over our lives, our liberty and our fortunes.

Nobody has said that you need to be mother theresa.

Those numbers are disputed, but thats fine lets roll with them, because it doesn't matter.

The program does not include Illegal immigrants, And if you have insurance you won't have to pay anything for their health insurance, the government is making them do it. This is a way to stop the stupidity that the people that think they are invincible force us to pay for.

See if they don't have insurance, and they wait until they are high risk, they are gambling with the system that we pay for. If they do get sick or in an accident, they are screwed and we pay the bill. Now this is making them man up and take care of themselves if they can.

And if they can't well then the system will help them out, because that is how it should be (and is already!).

Now then, that leave a few million who are actually UNINSURABLE due to factors beyond their control. These are the people we should be concerned with, feel compassion for ... and do something about. There just is no point in abolishing a system that MOST Americans are happy with in order to placate the few who are actually in need. Let's try a free market approach instead.

No that is what you are debating. The side that is for the insurance program is arguing that the system should be fixed so that people don't get tossed out.

I get what you are saying, but I think you just are ill informed on this issue. You agree that the system should be fixed, but you see this government program as some kind of injustice and power grab which it is not. It is just a huge ass gaping hole that the private industry doesn't want to fill up, be because without the healthy people coming in they don't want to cover the people that will cost them money.

Those healthy people that think they are indestructable would offset the unhealthy that get dumped, but the private industry won't fill the hole. So that is when the government has to figure out the best way to do it. And that is to make it like auto insurance and make it so that everyone needs to get it.

I agree with the Illegals, They need to go, and if anything was to happen to them working on uncle tom's farm for pennies the hell with em" Kinnda sucks that businesses promote illegals for cheap Labor though!
Working your way through college full time, working Pt, and to be able to live and eat and afford health care is unrealistic.
Could some one please tell me how much health insurance costs? I know at my work it was $180+ a week for a family plan,,There are 3 of us, That's $720 a month! That's not affordable insurance,,sorry. and that is on top of the company paying 60% of the premiums, employee 40%,,,try and get it on your own! It's just a matter of time when we all work for no benifits and have to shop around and why would it be any cheaper! it would not be. maybe for a lot of scam companay's to open there doors to get rich and shut them like the 3rd party car insurance plans. I don't live in a big city so 720 is a lot here.

I think your last sentence in the statement above is a great example of what is wrong with our country. You have to completely lack a social conscience to not give a shit about who receives and does not receive health care.

Out of the 47 million uninsured, 12 million are in the country illegally. I don't want to pay for them. Another 15 million are young people who are placing themselves at risk because they think they are bullet proof. I don't want to pay for their stupidity. I have bad news for you, you already do pay for illegal aliens health care, and that also includes dental. As to my response to the rest of this paragraph, see above response.
I take it that you never experienced adolescence or young adulthood?

You are correct in saying that it isnt about health care, but very wrong in thinking this is about individuals civil liberties. This about protecting current levels of economic regulation in the health and pharmaceutical industries so they can maintain their exuberant profit margins. Keep on fighting to protect big bussiness and assisting in further widening our economic gap.

Well then, how about attending school part time and working full time? Why should your fellow citizens subsidize your desire to attend college full time when you can't afford it?

Not dissing you ... just trying to get you to think.
