CFLs for a 2x2x4 area

I'm building a box to handle all phases of growth. The box has three chambers. I plan to use a 400W HPS in the flower chamber but since it's an air-cooled tube, a pass through to the veg/clone chamber will be difficult. To get around this I've switched plans to use CFLs in the veg/clone chamber. I've determined that I need 20,000 lumens. I can make the fixture myself but I'm having trouble locating an arrangement for five mogul sockets onto one assembly. Any ideas? Is 20,000+ lumens sufficient for a 2x2 area?

If its for your veg room that seems liek more than enough to me. But it depends on how tall your plants are going to be. If you flowering room is only 4 feet i woudl say you need to flower before they reach 1.5 feet just to be safe. if u find the socket adapter and attach it to extension cord buy tons of y adapters. It would probably be better to make a bunch of cords with 2 cfls that way you can get them each very close to the foliage. cfl loose lumens at extreme rates the further they are away from your plants. walmart usually has all you need if not home depot

I've been out of the growing loop a little while but I came back to see HTG got a makeover and not only that but they have a 24"x24" PL-55 2 foot 4 lamp t-5 grow light with 20k lummens for like $130 I think. I'm not sure exactly how snug thats going to fit into our tents though. It seems theres enough slack on the side flaps so it should fit with no problem. Getting circirculation to flow to the top and out the top fan might pose a problem for me, I dont know I'll have to see if and when I buy it. I'll let you know how it works if I do.

If you use those dome clamp reflectors, just remember, you need the 10" ones to be able to fit two 43 watt CFLs with the "Y" adapter. Also that makes them really heavy and the clamp pretty much becomes useless since its too heavy to keep in place if you use the clamp other than on the ceiling. I just hang them instead. I followed that SeemoreBuds guy's book but modified my light. He used 3 2x4's and three dome reflectors without the clamps with 6-8 43 watt CFLs on three plants, over 8 ounces from that grow, no mylar, no added nutes, nothing special. Proper pH, decent light and good airflow, thats basically it. With this set up its a day to day maintenaince getting the lights in a good position though...

***Also, I know this is an old post but I, myself, had a tough time finding a lot of good info on 2x2 tent lighting and such. Just here to tell people searching to check out the 2foot 4lamp tek light from HTG and to check out Seemorebud's book.***
