CFL/T12 grow 1ST grow... =) +rep thx

Yup looked like classic over watering, just don't water her at all until she looks good again,Im sure she will get back to normal.

Hey i really need some help to figure out what is wrong with my plant. This is my first time grow, and i dont have alot of money. Could this be a watering problem ? to much light? not enough. too close to the plant.
Any feedback would be great

It looks like it could be to much heat what are your temps at. I keep mine around 75 to 85 and what kind of lights are u using cause it doesnt look to bright in you grow room.

P.S you should have posted in plant problems and cures area.

:eyesmoke::eyesmoke: ummm where to start. Okay the plants got lights turned on two hrs late last night cus my buddy accidently knocked the timer =( should be okay but damn it! lol nah its great hes letting me use his place for cultivating lmao! havent seen them. Tonight im gonna c them though yay!! more pics later tonight.

SIMPLYBAKED~nothing at all man just the move, they didnt like it and one of the pots got tipped over in the duffle bag. thats what i moved them in to not make it obvious.

KAT~ just optical illusion lmao i noticed that just now good catch lol no its actually 80 in there or at least when i called my bro last night it was and it wasnt hot at all when i first set it up. the place is freakin cold all the time but lights keep it at perfect temp =)

GROWER~ yea man thanks for the input umm im actually thinkin of transplanting the bigger one with some foxfarm soil if it doesnt get better cus it may be root rot cus the soil isnt containing water and goes straight to the bottom! =( then sits there with nutes and shit in it from the soil and the plant then drinks that water thats been through the soil once already.

JENNY~ WELCOME TO RIU!! =)
p.s. not to be rude but if you can please post these in the correct place =) i know your new and prob didnt know but if you go to the top and click on forum it will give you catagories then just select the one you would like to post in and start thread. =) cus this is my journal =) well happy grows! and good luck! =)

i will update tonight with pictures. ive already decided if shes not doing good ima just pull her and start fresh cus friday i should be getting t-5 tubes to hang across my stealth should help tremendously! =) and maybe some foxfarm or mg moisture control and not this hella nuted shit from mg i got. gotta check the check! =) to see how to budget it but anyways gotta wrk latas!! Smoke =One!

p.s sorry this post is all F'ed up if someone can quickly throw how to quote yalls posts?? that would be bomb thanks! still new to RIU!

Click the "multi" botton (between quote and quick) for each reply you would like to quote. when you have clicked all the multies you want to quote, click the quote botton on the last one you want.
Skip the moisture control. Get the Fox Farms, or get MG Organic. Lost of people have good results with MG organic and its not expensive. Which ever you get ADD PERLITE to it. If you can (there are combo deals on Ebay) add some vermiculite AND perlite to your soil mix. And if you REALLY want a slammin grow.....worm castings. Did I mention how awesome worm castings are?

umm T-5's really considering buying two and hanging them above like 4-6 plants in my stealth cab!!. and adding cfls for assist. still going hps for flower though.

im thinking bout homedepot they have like a cpl ft long ones that are like 17 bucks for the fixtures another 5-10 dollars on bulb which ever is highest in lumens most likely =), will this benefit me in anyway?? or will it only benefit with t5HO which brings me to my next question can you run a t5ho bulb in a reg t-5 fixture? really considering this so all advice is much appreciated!! =)

I use some T12's. T-5's are better than T12's. So the T-5's will benefit you yes. But at what cost? You'll have to do the math. Consider the cost of buying the lumens (cost of fixtures and bulbs) and the cost of running the lumens (the watts) and see whats up.
A 17$ fixture and 10$ bulb that puts out say 1000 lumens costs .027$ per/lumen
And say the same bulb uses 40 watts to produce those 1000 lumens. That's 25 lumens per/watt.
A regular CFL (5$) and a socket (5$) puts out 1600 lumens. Thats only .00625$ per lumen. And @ 24 watts, you are getting 66 lumens per watt.
So in this example the first bulb (which i completely made up) is no where near as good as the 2nd bulb (the CFL).
Does that make sense? Just plug the numbers in for the lights you are considering.
If you were only going to use them once I'd say get the regular T5. But considering that you can use them OVER and OVER again its a no brainer to get the T5HO's.
IDK if the HO's will work in a regular ballast??

THANKS MAN!! i will deff factor that in when im looking into purchasing them. so i guess i have a few more questions for ya =) i know that this doesnt say HO but you think itd be considered http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2754063&lmdn=Product+Style#prodTab1?? and fox farm i found somewhere locally that has foxfarm two places one has Ocean Forest® is a powerhouse blend of premium earthworm castings, bat guano, and Pacific Northwest sea-going fish and crab meal. Composted forest humus, sandy loam, and sphagnum peat moss give Ocean Forest® its light, aerated texture. and another has the original good start: earthworm castings, bat guano, Norwegian kelp meal, composted forest humus, sphagnum peat moss, and more. which is better if any or are they both amazing?? cus im kinda leanin towards ocean only cus its cheaper then original by liike 30 bucks lmao. well imput on this like always is much appreciated!! =) Smoke =One!!

How's the plant????If you transplant consider adding perlite (for aeration) and vermiculite (retains water) to your soil (50% soil,25% perlite,25% vermiculite)
Have you been checking ph???

Ocean Forest seems to be the most popular. LOTS of people use it. I would still add perlite and/or vermiculite to it though.
I'm not impressed with that bulb at all. ANY flouro light can be said to "promote plant growth" so dont go by that. The discription is inadequate as well. We want to know the lumen output and most importantly the spectrum. Ideally you want a 6500K (daylight) bulb. But the higher the kelvin# the better for vegging. you want at least a 4000k bulb. You dont need to look for ones that says its for growing. I paid like 4 bucks for my 40W 4100K T-12's.

HO fluorescent lighting is great for a grower that intends to use the light throughout the whole life cycle of the plants otherwise T12s will do just fine for veg.

the t5's i was lookin at today were regular and only produced 1000 lumens per 2ft bulb is that normal??

There's no 15K lol IDK what you saw. I've seen 6700K but generally 6500K is as high as it goes.
IDK what each FF soil formula is for but they'll tell you if you call and ask them. I know the Ocean Forest is pretty much specifically formulated for growing cannabis.

Those would be very good lights and the price is pretty good.
BUT....
Those HID lights will both put off a good amout of heat though. So if you can deal with the heat (this is not as simple as you might think) they would be a good choice. If not then you won't be able to put your plants close enought to those lights to make them worth it. The T5's and CFL's wont put off much heat at all and you'll be able to keep your plants really close to them. Most people would say its a no brainer...get the HID's. But temp is an important consideration.
When I 1st got my 400w HPS. It put off so much heat I could not get my plants within 2 feet of it. So it really wasn't any better than my CFL's which i could have RIGHT ON my plants. It wasn't untill i made my cool tube that I was able to fully take advantage of the HPS.

Hey my bad man, I just didnt know where else to go
Huh??

Anyways 250 doesnt put off that much heat,a 400 does but with good ventilation you'll be good and you will get better results.I wouldnt buy the 70 watter though. You can get 220 watt hps conversion bulb for flowering, and you can use the lighting you have in conjunction.

Ultra Ace HPS Conversion Lamps from EYE Lighting allows you to give your plants all the blooming spectrum they need from your metal halide system. In fact, Ultra Ace HPS Conversion Lamps emit an enhanced sodium spectrum that's fuller than the standard sodium lamp because of a fuller gas composition in the lamp.

sure didnt man i think ima go straight cfl's for this time around and 400w hps it up for flowering period, but will deff keep lookin on craigs for more equipment cus buying a house soon and gonna do something crazy like a garage grow room!! =) lol

well my FREAKIN friend is being a poon whipped little girl:finger: and cant stand up to her for some crazy reason!! lol but anyways cant get babies till tomorrow:sad: which was not part of the plan. When i do get them tomorrow it will be kinda a plug and play type of deal cus everything is already setup for them to return home!!! =)

so ive put some pics below hope you enjoy;-). this is just whats going on light wise!! =) 2 big bulbs are missing but they are currently being used for lighting them while they are away.

actual watts and lumens

6x150w, 42 actual watts, 2700lumens ea
3x150w, 29 actual watts, 2150lumens ea
6x100w, 23 actual watts, 1600lumens ea
TOTAL
actual watts = 477watts
lumen count = 32,250:lol:

there is three power strips involved 6bucks ea at walmart btw and two of the three have 3x the big 42 watt bulbs ea then the third is a mixture of the other 9 bulbs. there is two 23 watt bulbs on y splitters between ea 29 bulb on the strip all lights are secured by zip ties and hung with shoe laces all much secured no worries involved lmao!!

well with all the lights in there turned on gets to like 80-87 minus two mini fans and two big bulbs. Plants are going to have to deal with that for a cpl weeks untill i can get a btu 5000 a/c unit.

any comments,advice,critism,thoughts,concerns,
help, questions, and anything else you can think of are more then welcome so enjoy

cool, sweet, PEACE!!, SMOKE =ONE!! =):bigjoint:
