Wow jesse, breaking stuff. I totally don't know exactly what happened but I agree with gypsy, it may be the amount of intake. I'm guessing you need more intake air flow, but yeah... I don't know wha'ts going on.

I'm no good tonight. Half of me thinks 4" should be fine, the other half thinks no way. If you don't want a giant hole, you can use multiple 2" black pvc tubing entries or something. With elbows of course to trap the light.

You wnt negative pressure in your op.. but it doesn;t have to be vaccum...

And the size of the intake is relevant to the cfm not the size of the exhaust hole...

There are different cfm 6" fans...

Just open it enough to release the pressure...

Get off the "book" and use a little more "real world" common sense...

Not trying to be mean Jesse.. just opening your eye...

as for the light trap... you can use just about any material... but here is a easy one to do with cardboard and tape... or even some plywood...

To be honest, I don't really worry about smell from my veg tent leaking out...

I just want it to stay 78f and not be sucked in like Michael Jackson's cheeks.

My 6" fan iss 340 CFM. I believe you, I am sure it is relevant to the CFM. Maybe my common sense is failing me, but I don't know the proper relationship. My solution was to buy a dimmer to slow the fan down. Which I am not please with if there is a better way.

Given my tent is 54 CF, and my 6" fan is 340 CFM, how much intake does YOUR common sense suggest?

I would make the holes bigger.. a little at a time... until you get the desired effect...

Just remember, you can always cut some more tomorrow, but it's a lot harder to put it back in...

But yeah just go in steps until your pressure is not breaking your shit...

I mean I will cut a bigger hole and use my 6" ducting and put a few bends in it for light proofing.

I still may build a new tent regardless and use a 4"

We shall see. I feel more at ease to experiment now. I thought there was a recipe and I screwed it up with the wrong ingredients (fan).

Time will tell...

I just read the last two pages and Im lost....... I understand it all but Im still lost..... I think I drank too much cofee and didn't smoke enough herb..... I will come back later and reread to make sense of it after I am heavily medicated

So I replaced the 4" intake with a 6" intake and am seeing less of an issue.

However, I still feel like there is TOO MUCH air moving through. Maybe I am wrong.

The clones do not look all that happy. They are suffering from some light nute burn, too little humidity, or from when I got them a bit wet under the lights with some Safer spray.

If it persists I will take some pics and post them. As soon as my phone decides to send my pics to my computer, I will post them

...I have got plenty of exhaust...

It would be hard to increase the size for a 6" fan anyway...

Safer during lights on was an accident, stupid, but an accident.

but you can always use a speed controller on your fan... and make sort of a damn to control the size of the intake...

But I would let her rip...

The only times I have used speed controllers are when using same size intake/exhaust fan.. in order to create the negative pressure...

But all you need is a little bit..

just enough to make sure no air is escaping...

all the leaks are IN and out through the filter...

There is no filter remember. I keep reminding you....this is a veg chamber only...

All the air is being filtered into a room with a 6" carbon filter. So no worries there...

I am not concerned about negative pressure, just maintaining good temp/rh levels.

I just don't have any experience with what "right" looks like, I think.

Maybe I will try and take a video with my phone while its all shut up and we can all judge the airflow.
