Nice looking stealth setup...I love SOG...Is there a reason for not drilling drain holes in the 2-ltr bottles...I thought about using those for veg? I'll be following along....later

My only reasoning is I would have to have trays underneath them to catch the drainage. I just dont think that drainage holes are as important as people say so we shall see :eyesmoke:

Time for a quick weekly update.

Just a shot of whats happening in my flowering chamber.

Heres really the kind of results i wanted for my 12 plant perp. I only got 4 out of 12 to grow like i wanted. 4 died and the 4 other survivors tops essientailly died so they're branching upwards, kind of a mess. Extreme circumstances were the cause for the underwatering so I'm not too worried about it.

Heres Batch #2. I've kept up on watering with these girls and they'll be going into flowering next monday. Should be rooted by mid week.

Sounds good man! My 7 clones still havent rooted :(. I dont know what the deal is. I might have to let them go another week but I'm going to go ahead and clones 7 more on monday.

I also took care of my nightly humidity problem. Used to get 85% to 90% humidity at night. I just added an 8" fan for intake and now my humidity never climbs past 45%.

i figure the main set back will be clone rooting times. but honestly we cant expect to get everything right on the first attempt. gonna make edjustments to my grow space too make it more efficiant.

It's about that time for an update.

Heres a couple pics of the flower chamber. Batch #1 is in there, but i didnt take any pics of them cuz im kind of embarrased on how much i let them stretch. I also pruned them on saturday. Removing the bottom 1/3 of growth. Ill do this again at the end of the following week.

This is batch #3. I took them 2 days early on saturday cuz i was bored. So they'll have 2 extra days to root. Im expecting these girls to root faster than my last batch.

So both batch #2 and 3 are still in the veg chamber. Batch #2 is still not completely rooted so im either going to let them go til wednesday or friday, or monday even if need be.

Since theres not much going on heres one of my other girls still finishing up.

Nice grow man. I have seen this cloning method before but only in pics and havent had the chance to ask someone who actually does it. (and im lazy thats a lot of plant matter for it not to do what i want it to :p) Anyways......

I had a question about the way you take clones.

Does the top shoot & leaf material still progressively grow while it growing roots/feeding through the stem?

Do clones taken this way tend to stretch more? (I notice you have some very nice but rather large plants)

I always take extremely small clones (for very short sog grows) and they always take forever to root & then you have to re-acclimate them etc etc. But with the method you use i could literaly bury 4" of stem to just the top shoot correct? and also ditch the humidity dome.

Anyways its late/early nice grow man. im def watchin :)

I'll do my best to answer your questions but I too am still learning and am in no way an expert.

Yeah, basically I take clones that have at least 5" of stem. they have to have 2 fan leaves as well. Just cut, dip in rooting compound, insert in medium. That's all I do. Super simple. No need for a humidity dome cuz the clone is pulling moisture from its stem and the stem is long enough that it has enough of it. I've had someone tell me they would root faster if I had a dome over it, but I have never bothered to try. Maybe something for you to try!

You wont see any new growth until your cuttings root. I can tell that my clones have rooted when I see new growth. The new growth is lighter green. It takes my clones about 10-14 days usually (minus this last batch)

Heres just kind of a general progression of my clones. Left - Rooted clone ready for flowering. Middle - Clone thats almost rooted, new growth has started. Right - Clone is taking longer to root, hardly any new growth yet.

This is where I want my clones to be where they're going into flower. This is one clone that rooted faster than the others in my 2nd batch. She's going into fllower today. This technique doesnt make your plants stretch anymore. I let my first batch veg for an extra week, so i've already adjusted that with my schedule. I also didnt prop them up to the light at first cuz im lazy, so that resulted in stretching.

kk, ty for the info though. Still sounds better than the way I have taken them for soo long. I will have to try a batch with long stems & even toss some in a humid dome to see if they root faster. I definitely like the concept of not having to have a humidity dome though. :)

If all you want is the powder kind you can get that from wally world or MJers etc. Its called rootone or root tone or something like that. I know MJers carries it though, its all they have carried for like 10+ years :p

If you wan't Olivia's cloning gel or clonex you have to go to a hydro store or buy online.

Do you have any opinions against using powder over gel? Looks like the soil method he's using is awesome and would save me the cost of a dome
