Where's mygirls back up of his position with ANY kind of link, picture, paragraph, etc.? Fair is fair.

I have to agree that if roots grew better exposed to light then Mother Nature would have thought of it 1st and all planters and containers would be clear.

Go figure. I don't believe that it was good advice.

Mygirls has many nice grows and plants; some just amazing, but how many of his plants are in clear containers?
I know you have read in some places that clear cups are a "no-no" because supposively they could damage the roots. But read some more man that theory is gone, not just mygirls but other members and experienced growers have been putting there babies in clear plastic containers since 99 just to watch the roots (which 4 some reason is SO AMAZING?>!?!?!?!?@!11111). But yea...really doesnt matter. Stupid arguement.

Im following this grow. I Like the cardboard/box setup lol. Good luck with everything guy...you actually gave me an idea with that plastic covering + containters in box. Take care.

Just a warning on cardboard boxes.... News story last night was about a fire that started in a cardboard box that got too hot from the light bulbs inside used to keep the chick brood warm. The fire caused $7,500 of damage. Cardboard is not flame retardant.

If clear containers were better, they would be the clear choice of the majority of growers. Are they? I don't know. My guess is that most growers use opaque or mostly opaque containers.

the dark color containers could also get fried faster under lights or in the sun.......So it all leads back to square one....hands on experience:)as long as your plants grow, your happy:)thats all that matters.....regardless of technique:joint:

Yo how long did it take to sprout out of the ground? and did you germinate them?
if u want 2 germinate seeds for yourself it should only take you 2-5 days(based on what i been reading). i personally dont evan mess with that stuff, germinaing seeds are illeagal in my country so id rather not get involved

See are you just saying that or have you EVER tried it?

I have tried it and I agree with mygirls, the plants showed no difference between the ones in clear containers and the ones in dark containers.

If you are going to make an argument then at least try to back up your position with ANY kind of link, picture, paragraph, etc.

To just say, "I heard it from some guy" or "I saw it somewhere" does not help anyone.

Have you seen mygirls grows? I listen to that guy man, he has had some real nice plants!
anyone telling you its ok is wrong. UV lights kill roots. If roots were meant to be above ground exposed to light then they would be. direct UV light exposure to the roots will damage them.

I also noticed your plants leaves are kind of droopy, and some of your seedlings in the beginning were a bit stretched. To get a MUCH thicker plant with more leaves get the lights as close as possible with those CFL's. I used CFL's my first grow and I had them within 1 inch all the time. My plants got thick, both stem and with leaves and were a healthy dark green!

About the droopy leaves, make sure you dont overwater. thats what that looks like to me. Stick a finger in the soil up to your middle knuckle. feel for medium-dry soil before you water again. Or it could be underwatering. Hard to tell, but ill assume since your new you are overwatering. either way good luck and i hope any of this info helps!
