Topping has doubled my yield

I just harvested my first topped plant , dried it cut and weighed it and my productivity has doubled. Just a few details , and I know I can improve but here are my details. CFL for veg and I normally veg for 4-6 weeks. Flower is a 75 watt HPS (I know it's low watt the closet get's hot and am still experimenting).I Also use 4- 43 watt soft white CFL's. Thus far my yield has been slightly over a quarter per plant, my last was a topped bc big bud and yieled slightly over a half. This is a testimonial to topping and an even bigger testimonial to RIU. I am happy with my personal experience and would like to thank all members past and present for gaining this knowledge. I also realize that this a low yield compared to most but I'm improving and happy. :bigjoint::bigjoint::bigjoint:

Hey it may be a small yield but at least you're improving, and improvement, no matter how small, is always good :-)

I know a quarter is way low but I have tried everything except for bigger lights, which I will do once I get better exhaust to handle the bigger heat. thanx though

This will be my first grow and already I have learned a lot. First off I was given bubble kush clones as a gift that had been planted in lil plastic pots. Not even a gallon so I'm gonna get smart pots next time but I used hps for veg and growth and the plants are stuck in three blade leafs and the biggest is probably 10 inches. I switched them to flower now and I'm gonna start using blossom booster any other tips for a newbie? I really wanna get it right next time and will appreciate any input. I'm also changin my soil to sunshine professional.

I'm actually speaking the truth I doubled my yield with topping. It wasn't that big but it doubled. I highly recomend topping

that depends a lot on the size of the plant
that's funny you would ask. I normally go from veg to flower at around 1foot tall. and yield roughly 1 quarter. This particular plant was the runt that i decided to experiment on and topped it at 5 inches just to test it . and it doubled every other plant I had.

I am growing and planned on topping myself. How exactly did you go about topping the plant? Just clip it any time it got over 5 in.?

Topping is the way to go in a confined space especially. I like to top at the 4th node for 8 bud shutes at about 3 wks and veg for another 3 wks. At that point you should have a nice bushy plant between 12-16". Flower stretch will take that to 20-40" and many buds.

how many plants are you growing under those lights? 7 grams is way too little even for that light. You could grow one big(ish) plant under that 75w hps and your cfls and I guarantee you'd get way more than 7 grams. It sounds like you're trying to get too many plants from too little light, causing low yeilds.

what's your lumen/square foot ratio?

congrats on improving, that is certainly a plus, but I think you're still underperforming, even with the meager lighting.
