h2o + PH discussion

I want to have a quick discussion on water PH and additives...

I use a PH test kit that uses a vial and drops and a chart... Cannot afford an electronic one yet and don't trust the cheap electronic ones...

I have very high PH water, its at 8.0 from the tap... I add super thrive to it (1/4tsp - 1/2tsp per gallon) and it brings it down to 6.2ph.... Is this normal, should super thrive bring my PH down that much? It brings it into proper range with no need for any adjusters....

Also do any of you think that the color of your nutrients and other things you mix in with your water could change the readings?

Some things will affect ph and some dont. Water temp and nutrients will change ph and some additives could also change ph

Rule of thumb is to mix in nutes and additives then ph your water unless otherwise specified in product instructions.

If your ph goes to where you like it after mixing nutes you should have nothing to worry about. 6.2 is safe number to start with.

even a cheap electronic meter is better than what you're using. don't be fooled by price. most meters are pretty good. also, i think you're overdoing the super-thrive. what does it say on the label, one drop per gallon?? never was a fan of s.t. myself...

It says one drop per gallon for regular feedings, and 1/2tsp. for feedings when you want to revitalize your plants, wich is what i was doing, i will cut it down for regular, but my plants were pretty sick before i realized my PH was way off!! So now that i have fixed that issue, the S.T. has helped them to really come back!!

They grew twice as much the first day after giving S.T. as they did the whole week before that!! It seems to do the trick for me!

Monster.... Yeah i was not clear enough, seems when im burnt its harder for me to describe my thoughts on here LOL what i meant is will they change the color readings of the PH, i know anything you add to water will change the PH, i was thinking more along the lines of if i added something that changes the color will that also throw off my PH reading with the test vial or not? :weed:

Thanks though guys, have the PH under control for now, and i think ill stick with the test tube until my next grow or when i start cloning and i can afford a meter, i just cant get one right now, times are too tight around here, sounds pathetic but im a broke muthafucka!! :bigjoint:
