intake or exaust

Ok so i have a 6 inch inline duct fan that moves 160 cfm when used alone,

my grow closet is 6'4" by 5'7" by 7'10", so 243 cubic feet (i think).

i use a 600 watt hps and i have a large box fane to move air.

so before i put the fans in, the temp was over 100 f, after i put the box fan in it was around 99.

i live in an apt and cant really be drilling big ass holes in the closet door so what i did was take the door knob off to use the hole for ventilation, yesterday i installed the inline fan but i thought that since i can only have one hole for ventilation and since the fan can move 4800 cubic feet per half an hour that i would make it an intake so it could suck the air conditioned air from my bedroom into the closet. so i did, but unfortunetly it only brought the temp down to 93 f.

so what i'm asking is... should i make it an exaust? do you guys think that making it an exaust would drop the temp down enough? to like 85f? or do you think it should stay as an intake?

i have conciderd getting another door but it looks kinda scetchey coming home with a door... so any other solutions would be good.

ty for any input

ps... i have also considered puting a couple frozen gallons of water in front/behind the box fan... you think that would do any good?

usually you want to intake at the bottom and exhaust out the top.

I open my door most of the day except when addig co2.
I only close the door at night.

My intake and exhaust are hooked up to the timer on 12/12 with lights.

I also have an oscilating fan blowing towards the middle of the door when it is open.

Your temps should get down between 70-80 with lights on for optimal growing.

I am able to maintain 80 deg in a closet with lights on.

i am really looking for solutions that do not involve destroying the door, lol

if i have an intake then doesn't the air get pushed out by itself?

it does but not fast enough

You want to replace the air in the room every 5 minutes.
This would be good air circulation.

Fresh air is just as important as light or nutes.

well... shit... the fan i use puts enough air into the room to replace it almost 40 times an hour. is that not enough fresh air? i mean other than the temp problem.

The one-word answer: exhaust. The only way to ventilate a space is to remove some air, which will lower the air pressure in the space. Then higher air pressure outside the space will force in fresh air. It's simple physics, or didn't you read that chapter?

Along the same lines, blowing air into a room doesn't do very much, because of equal air pressure.

thanks dude, i will switch it tomorrow, i've been looking for a strait answer .

you think that will do enough?

you think some frozen waterjug will help with temp?

umm....how big is the hole where your doorknob used to be? this will be a big determining factor in how much air you can move. even if you have a 1600cfm fan, that doesn't help much when you've only got a 1 inch opening that it's sucking/blowing through.

the hole is 3 inches, i'm testing it as an exaust right now. and in a few minuts i'm gonna put in the frozen jug of water, after i take the temp of what it's at with just the exaust

Fac, turn the fan around and use it as an exhaust, rather than intake. Then drill several 1" holes at the bottom of the door and use these as passive intakes. Keep you room about 72 F. You will need to run some ducting from the exhaust to the outside or maybe just into your bedroom. If the closet is close to your bathroom and the bathroom has an extractor fan, vent in there. Odor will be an issue, as it always is. When you are ready to vacate the apt, get some wood putty and fill in the holes and repaint to match the rest of the door. Good luck
