Thread dead?.... Welp, let's tally 'em up!

46.5% "believers"

to

53.5% "non-believers"

Ok... 40 more pages... 40 more votes... 1 infraction for mocking the guy who got banned... and now we have a new total.

46% BELIEVERs

54% NON BELIEVERS

Just about the same despite the more votes.

I'd be curious to know what percentage of those 46% are God believers but not religion believers.

Yes, well I posted earlier and this is no slight upon you IC but the question you started with is wide open to interpretation. Of course trying to pin the specifics down would make Sisyphus cringe.

Yes. I totally agree. I also knew (figured) if I put an option on there for the tons of other options that it would make the poll question too "easy" on some folks.

If people can sit on the fence they will. However, this forces them to choose A or B... or not choose at all. Which is what I really wanted to know at the beginning.. Cold and hard, believe or not. Know what I mean?

It's "harder" for most people to say "Shit, I have to say yes or no... well... fine. NO!" or "fine YES!". Basically if you believe 50.1% yes, then say yes.

But now, after all of that time I am actually curious of the nitty gritty. lol!

Atheists, when you say God, you are referring to that which you think does not exist. This is not the same God that believers refer to, how can it be?

Agnostics, when you speak of God, you are speaking of a subjective creation of your mind, that is expected to act according to your view of the world and cosmos.

When believers speak of God, it is from an objective point of view. That we are subject to a Creator, which smashes the ego with reality, and builds you up according to truth.

It is a human transgression that tortures his own children as if they were ants. God is love, and part of that parental love is giving a child freedom to make his/her own mistakes, after and sometimes before the child is necessarily ready... and always before the parent is ready. Parents know what I mean. God is not subject to our will, we are subject to God's will. Even if you do not believe God will let you live with your decision, but remember when you suddenly realise God exists, it is not your will that puts you at His side, and if you deny He has a will what can you expect to inherit.

When my child "makes a mistake"... such as not believing in something that hasn't had any logical proof to exist.... I wont cast them to a fiery pit for eternity.

what allows god to allow a man to make a "mistake" and kill my daughter? what about her freedom? her right to make her own decisions?

why does god not allow these same right for a murdered child? but he allows the murder's freedom to kill as they please, or as you like to put it make "mistakes" as they please.

if this is god then he is doing the devils work it seems to me

I would find it more plausable to find that the devil is really the god that rules and he is really the one who all powerful,

maybe god is a weak power trying to counter the devils great strength but cannot

but then he would not be a god. he would be something less

Atheists, when you say God, you are referring to that which you think does not exist. This is not the same God that believers refer to, how can it be?No it is the same god. Sure he/she/it may look different cuz it is an image created either personally or adopted from another interpretation. We are not talking about greek gods or something completely different, and again you are not special, no special powers of insight

Agnostics, when you speak of God, you are speaking of a subjective creation of your mind, that is expected to act according to your view of the world and cosmos. No again we are talking about the same "idea" You have the correct definition within context of "subjective", unfortunately since you believe, you are speaking subjectively. Actually since Agnostics don't really know (true fence sitters) they are actually being more "objective", as they really do not have an opinion one way or another (Objective [in this case] is defined as not influenced by personal feelings or prejudice, unbiased).

When believers speak of God, it is from an objective point of view. That we are subject to a Creator, which smashes the ego with reality, and builds you up according to truth. Which of the 22 definitions of "objective" are you using here? Not one of the first 5...

When Earthists speak of the earth it smashes the ego with reality. This is real. This is important. The Earth is that which provides, protects and holds us close. Sh!tting on her because you believe this to be temporary is the ultimate false prophecy, and the belief that some imaginary dude has given humans dominion over all that the Earth holds close is the ultimate display of "ego".

It is a human transgression that tortures his own children as if they were ants. God is love, and part of that parental love is giving a child freedom to make his/her own mistakes, after and sometimes before the child is necessarily ready... and always before the parent is ready. Even if you do not believe God will let you live with your decision, but remember when you suddenly realise God exists, it is not your will that puts you at His side, and if you deny He has a will what can you expect to inherit. Saying we are subject to god's will contradicts "it is a human [...] as if they were ants". And if humans are torturing god's children, and he/she/it does nothing (yea yea in this world blah blah) then he/she/it IS subject to the will of man.

All I can say is, you all speak as though you have no concept of free will. How are you going to even say that God made you do anything... that is your whole argument. Even the satanist says "I did it of my own FREE WILL." If your going to claim to be so fuckin' smart as to not need a "stupid" God in your life, and the next moment claim not to read and comprehend. What definition of definition do you mean to use? Come on, you weren't born yesterday, but you can be born again today! Atheists, NO if we were talking about the same God, God in your eyes would exist. Agnostics, if you seek God, sooner or later you will find Jesus, when you do believe what He says, and you will become gnostic 1. adj. possessing gnosis n. a divinely inspired knowledge. New Lexicon Webster's Dictionary of the English Language. Your arguments defeat themselves.
