do you need a 400w hps?

Did you receive the bulbs yet? How were they? Retail packed?

i got 3 and they were fine and fired up as fast as the one i got from htg. they are pretty wide. it fit my reflector which i never thought it would. the packaging was 3 individual white boxes in bubble wrap inside a box with farmtek and a couple small pics of greenhouses. now i gotta find another ballast. thanx for the find

You'll need a power cord and a couple wire nuts if it doesn't come with wire nuts. (might)
Any 3 prong power cord will do... Extra computer power cord, extension cord, cut a cord off something dead in your house as long as it's 3 prong with ground.

And a bulb.

It's not that hard, just buy it and someone will lead you through hooking it up.
Just open a browser with ebay and type in the item number he gives in the first post in the ebay search box.

the item # changes every week just search for crescent light fixture and it comes up.
also its not a crescent light fixture. its made by genlyte and the power pack # is PP400LXJ-4

To change input voltage, and it is a multitap ballast. All you need to do is open the ballast compartment and look for the wires that you normally hook the power too. You should see a wire labeled "com" and possibly other wires labeled 120,208,240,277 and maybe 480. You want the "com" (neutral), and the 120 (hot). The rest should be pre-wired in that fixture.
To test a ballast you need to look at the sticker on it and find where it says "OCV" open circuit voltage, sometimes ov , cv or oc. Using a voltmeter put the leads on the bulb socket inner threaded ring and the tab that contacts the end of the bulb. You should get a voltage reading of the OCV +/- 5%.

those are used. but may be good.
these are brand new lights. after the one ends on thurday morning about 10 minutes later the next light comes up. buy it now for 20.
if you do a search for cresent light fixture you will find the next one listed.

You were right Smoke. I thought I was looking towards the beginning of next week to receive the light but it came yesterday! The wiring schematic is included on the magnet, that was very helpful. I remoted it and it works great. I was moving too quickly when trying to swap it in last night and I dropped and broke the socket. DAMN! I knew I had to screw up something. Looks like my beauties will have to wait another couple days now.

these same light fixtures are being sold on farmtek for $115-165. So i would agree and say its far from a scam,or "you get what you pay for" i dont think quality is compromised

These fixtures for applications like high bay shop lighting are being phased out by T5 HO flourescents. One- 4 tube T5 HO fixture more than replaces 1 400W MH fixture, and using only 216 watts while doing it. It's no mystery why companies are people are swapping em out for T5's.

these are not swap outs. brand new fixture. and anyway, the light on ebay is ended very soon this morning. when it ends you can purchase the next listed one for 20 bucks. search for crescent light fixture.
ill be posting today on making the ballast remote. have a look. link in my sig.
