I am just wondering if any one could help me out on a few things ... if you could would be great.

basically i am going to grow cuttings in doors under flourescent lighting before planting outside and was just wondering .

1. how to work out watts per square foot (if it is needed for cuttings) but also for the mother plant.

2. Can i keep my mother plant alive under flourscent lighting year round ... And do i need certain bulbs or will the standard bulbs do.

3. Can i countinue to grow my cuttings/clones after they have rooted .. under flourscent lights till they are big enough to be planted outside.

4. How tall roughly do the cutting/clone have to be before the can be planted outside in --Great britain--

5. When planting outside what is the best way to go about this.-including ..#

Any neutriants ..etc.

Thanks for that info it was useful both of you .... :D but i still need help with what flourscent bulbs to use just to grow my clones and to keep my mother plant in vegitation.

I have 2x ..2 ft fittings and both have 18 watt bulbs im guessing together its around 3060 lumens in a smallish space will this be enough to grow my cuttings and if i got 2-3 more could it keep my mother plant alive ... These are not compact fourcents btw .. so just wondering what other bulbs there are for eg .. daylight etc and which combos and voltage would be best for the above :) cheers fdor the help and again it will be useful

Dude, my 23W CFL's are 2700K (perfect fer flower, 6500K better fer veg). You dont have enough Lumens, fer sure, try more like 55K, is a good number!

yo tussel has got it down. Talk about low electric bills on the mother room! haha
I would say if you're trying to stay cheap but have space get a set of 4' shop light fluoro's for like $10 each! use the 6500k(blue spectrum for veg) or you can use a mixture of the warm and cool bulbs (2700/6500) if you want! If your space isn't 4' though, maybe check out some CFL's.

cheers sorry about questions but as i say im knew .. i have seperated the room into 3 spaces one for the mother one for just after the rooting progress and on for the rooting stages ..all will be kept vegative till they are planted outside ..so in a 2 and 1/2 ft x 3ft area (for rooting stage ) the flourescents aren't enough lumens? i have a philips 400w HID buld which i will use to keep the mother alive and a philips 180w warm white bulb which i will use to help them grow when they are moved from the rooting area....

Also if any one knows what seeds are best for planting outside in England (europe) which have a decent yeild and thc % would be great and helpful jsut as all your other info has been.. :D keep the help up its great of you

you confuse me what???? i would say 400w is a lot for mothers.. your not tryin to grow em huge i use a 26w cfl for 2 mothers and it puts out plenty of clones... i would use that hid for the vegging plants and you say floros are not enough to root with???? thats b/s, they have no roots they can not handle a lot of light... root growth is at its maximum in dark times veg growth in light,, you wanna avouid too much light while rooting
i use a 3 watt floro under cabinet light and they root in 7-10 days.. you dont want warm light for any stage you are working with... cool or daylight is what you want

400w mh vegging plants
180w warm bulb,,,,,,, get a cool bulb or daylight
use cfl's or floro tubes for mothers and clones

i kept 2 mothers under that 26w cfl for a lil more than a year and could have kept em in thair but its time for a new strain

Hey skunk, I once again agree. The 400w for mothers is overkill!! I am currently cloning and vegging under a 4 foot, 2 bulb, T-12 setup! No it's not the best but it definitely works perfectly fine! I would for sure use that 400w to veg the plants not clone or mother. Afterall, you're wanting them smaller inside and trees outside..not little bitty plants outside and a couple of super thick mothers! As for the strain for you to choose I can't help you out there, sorry.
Good luck!
