Is Iraq worth it?

We as Americans were all sold the proposition of war in Iraq to dismantle the "WMD's" that were causing havoc in The region.... The Bush Administration pushed it, Congress voted on it and passed it....

Was it worth it to remove the WMD's from Iraq......

If one considers Saddam to be a Weapon of Mass Distruction, then yes, our causing havoc in the region was worth the effort. A couple of hundred thousand Kurds in the region would agree, I think.

I can't believe that otherwise intelligent people say that the administration "lied" about WMD. Not only did the Bush administration think there was WMD in Iraq, but so did the UN, our entire Senate and House, Bill Clinton, and practically everyone who voiced an opinion on the subject before the invasion... including Saddam himself, who threatened to use WMD if we invaded.

You could even make the case that plenty of WMD has indeed been pulled out of Iraq.

Don't get me wrong- I do not think that invading Iraq turned out to be a smart thing to do, at least in the manner in which it was executed. But the war was not the product of some evil marriage between corporations and the government; it was a strategic mistake made by a group of people who honestly believed it was the right approach at the time. I guess you'd have to have seen more of political life to be as cynical as me, I've seen plenty of lying, cheating and outright criminal behavior by our leaders. If they were to be tried in a world court, the present administration would all be in for the death penalty!

The problem with all of the above is that Saddam was selling wolf tickets.
Saddam was nothing more than a minor irritation, his country was on the verge of bankruptcy and once his army started to go hungry he would have suffered the same fate of Anwar Sadat did in 1981.

What do you guys think about Reinstating Saddam Hussein as Iraqi President?

I realize it might be too late but it appeared Saddam was the only person that could keep iraq under control through the use of occasional mass murders of his opponents and through the use of rape and torture rooms, The best part is since he isnt a Democrat or a Republican he would be able to escape criticisim from not only Democrats and Republicans but from our Media as well.
