many people do have problems starting their seeds in Miracle Gro or killing their seedlings in Miracle Gro....

truth is...its your fault...haha

but seriously...i noticed Miracle Gro has soil called "Miracle Gro seed starting pot mix"... so that may help you Miracle Gro challenged people...

but also...many people have also been able to start their seedlings in other types of Miracle Gro...

i also noticed the Organic Mix and Moisture Control is supposedly listed as Premium soil.....

this is just some info i would like to share

Ya I saw the potting soil. I would have to re pot shortly after they sprouted, and I didn't want to deal w/ that. I went w/ the "organic" stuff. I added 30% perlite, and 1 Tbsp of "Garden Lime". I hope they sprout, this was two days ago btw.

haha....i got a negative rep for this thread....haha....and they said "get some better soil son"...haha....i wish you would have left your name...coward...ha

but yeah, itzCesar... they should sprout... i had seedlings sprout in MG 3 month slow release and thats suppose to be the worst one for MJ out of all the MG soils...

mixing it with perlite i heard is the way to go, Diem keeps reminding me to get it, but he mixes 50/50 with the MG soil..and dolomite....so i believe you're going about it better than i did

haha...still can't believe i got a negative rep...haha...i love this site

yea i used mg for years , i do it all organic now but mg has its place... mothers do well in moisture control for me, i dnt have to water or even look at em as much...

mg works great as long as you use it right...

you should transplant into it like most soils( i have planted right in it b4 some strains handle it better than others)

dnt ever over water

when you do water use just enough water to wet the pot....
eccess water disolves the little nute balls

dnt ever add nutes until your into flowering ***** edit**** or when the plant tells you it needs it

keep ph in check

thats 5 simple steps that will rais your success level with mg

you can add nutes during veg, but you just have to wait 3-4 weeks... i wait until i see the signs though.... and you're right about transplanting into it... once i saw that they had a seed starting soil, thats when the lightbulb went off, many people don't know you're not suppose to start in the 3 month slow release... i do it...but my soil is 50/50 with tropical plant mix, so i guess that helped me out.. but yeah man... you're steps are official

moisture control and organic seems to be the way to go with many people on here.... i might try the organic and mix that with the tropic plant mix...wonder how that would do

i usually go with an organic topsoil and some composted horse poop and some perlite all equal parts and it works great for me ya just goot be sure to transplant pot sizes or it will be too wet if theres no roots to use the water it doesnt need to be there and transplanting makes a better rootmass so you should do it anyway

Interesting discovery: I planted 8 seeds total, 4 Ice, 4 Northern Lights. I used two different soil mixtures, one contained MG "organic", the other was made up of "Scotts" brand. Well, I planted 2 of each strain in each soil.... so 2 Ice in MG, 2 NL in MG, and vice versa. So far my northern lights have only sprouted in the "Scotts" brand, and the Ice in the MG. Interesting development. Maybe just coincidence lol

check out this thread >>> https://www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/154697-ahem-excuse-me-something-u.html it will tell you that you dont plant right into the soil but use a seed starting mix and transplant into that.... either way it has nothing to do with germination rate. thats whole differant subject

Ya, I'm reading this thread dude, lol. I was the second post. Anyways, ya I didn't want to bother w/ that potting soil. This is my first soil grow, and I'm most nervous about transplanting. So I just wanted to avoid that step for now.
I'm not sure if you read my previous post correctly. I'm just stating that my "Ice" are doing better in one soil than the other, and "Northern Lights" in the other. I didn't mention anything about germination. :bigjoint:

you have a farm? thats fucking outstanding..... damn...my family also have a farm but its nowhere near where i am (carribean....god, i wish i was able to grow out there, haha...and so many bats too)...i'm jealous dude...

hey itsCezar...it might be a coincidence....you should germinate in paper towels first...then put the seed the soil.... i mean, there are people thats successful with just putting the seed in the soil and water...but you know for a fact, the seed isn't a dud once you germinate them.... also, did you know Scotts owns MG....look at the back, you'll see their name...haha, funny world huh?

I did germinate, I thought that was a given. I also knew about Scotts, and MGs relationship. Thanks tho :-P

i won't lie....i start my seeds on the windowsill, nothing attracts them better than real sunlight... and truthfully, there are times i'll take them off the windowsill and put them in the box, and the seedling would react funny....so maybe you should leave it on the windowsill 2-3 days, let it come out the dirt a couple of inches... don't know if that would help, but it seems to help me out
